Harmony 890 Question

I got the 890 and liking it so far. I have my room lights connected to the remote so I can turn them on and off. When Im watching TV or a movie I would like to have 2 buttons on the remote be able to control on and off for the lights. I can't figure out how to do this. Right now my lighting is one of the devices on watch tv activity and turns on when I start the activity and turns off when I end the activity but thats not what I want. I want to be able to turn on the lights on or off manually using the remote instead of it automatically turning on and off when starting/stopping a activity. Is this possible with this remote? Im guessing it is Im just doing something wrong. Someone help

Not sure about the remote if full issue, neve had that happen before and I have a lot of stuff on my 880. Max number of devices and about 16 activities. As far as the light 2 options, go thru that devices settings and select power options. Either tell the software that the device does not have power buttons or that you leave that device on all the time. With those options no on/off commands will be sent during entry exit of activities.

If you are using Z-wave lights with your 890 then you can't create a button within an activity to control them. All you can do is add a scene to the beginning and end of an activity. I got annoyed with the scenes linked to activities so I removed them within a day or so after setting it up. That leaves you with clicking Activities and RF Tools to control your lights manually. After changing your lights you can double click on Activities or Devices and it will return you to your prior Activity screen.

For you non-updating issue you should try to go to Downloads and Firmware. Force a firmware update and see if that helps.

Then add your dimmers as a device needed by your activity. Then you can map your lights to the remote.

Example of devices used in Activities:
Watch TV: TV, DVR, Receiver, Lights
Watch DVD: TV, DVD, Receiver, Lights

Now your Light commands are mappable to your activity's buttons.

I use the Maestro in my bedroom and living room, it seems you have the Maestro in your activities already so just do as I suggest and go into the lighting device in the software and set to always on.

I'm not sure if it still works this way or not, as I haven't used it like this for a while and logitech changed it at one point but then changed it back. When I exit my activity and I forgot to turn off the light first, if I hit help the first thing it did was to send lights off command. Saves a few extra button presses of going to devices, finding device, finding command.
