I love every second of this movie and it's of my opinion that it is the best superhero movie to date. Whedon's script and direction is damn near flawless. I'm going to see it again and look forward to reviewing it on blu ray.

I know it sounds like I'm gushing, but I can't help it. It's just a fantastic film, not just a fantastic superhero film.

Hope that helps.

That's awesome, D-dub! I can't wait for this to open here.

We watched Iron Man this afternoon as part of our Marvel movie marathon. I had forgotten how great the AQ is. The LFE is simply superb. I know The Hulk (next on our list) has some sheetrock cracking bass too.

If I had to rank them by my favorite it would be:

Iron Man
Captain America
Thor
The Incredible Hulk
Iron Man 2

I actually didn't stay until the very end of the credits, because after the cast credits there was a scene and I assumed there wouldn't be an additional one at the very end. Now I wonder if I made a mistake...

Where are you located?

I don't understand how the rest of the world seems to be getting the movie before North America. Why aren't we all getting it at the same time? This is really annoying, especially as a critic being told I can't publish a review until the release date and there are already a ton of reviews online.

I heard rumors an actor very familiar to Buffy-Angel fans shows up in the after credit scene. The one married to a certain red headed witch in real life. Can you confirm?

I agree i found that a bit strange.

I'm wondering if it was a sly marketing move. Whedon has always had impact on the net and his fan sites are buzzing with glowing reviews from overseas members. I realize most of those members would be going to the film anyways, but having actual "normal" people as opposed to critics gushing about the film just stirs it up a little more. Adds to the hoopla and ensures his fan base will be there opening weekend. Maybe thats too simplistic. I know for me The Avengers went from "got to see this sometime" to "must see this now" based on what I've read here.

Yes I did. I actually didn't know what it meant, so I had to ask a fellow critic and he explained it to me. Made me very excited!

How long will it take to get TA2? They've got to do IM3, Thor 2, and Cap 2 before they do TA2. It could be a while.

I didn't realise they were making Thor 2 and cap 2. I thought they were doing another iron man and then back onto Avengers.

I hope that's the case. This will probably break the billion dollar mark around the world.

I'm here in North America wondering why you and Franin are going to see this twice before it even opens here.

I don't know why they're releasing it this way. Maybe it's all part of Loki's evil master plan? That is pretty lame they won't let you publish a review.

Viewed this in Hong Kong over the weekend in 3D and was impressed for the most part. The first part of the film drags a little IMO but once it gets going its a great popcorn flick even the fake 3D looks good (but not great).
Best part of the movie for me? Hulk without a doubt and i went in not liking this marvel character at all!

That's insanity! Funny how many countries that don't care about movie piracy have a chance to see and pirate the movie before it hits theatres in the largest movie market in the world.

It is kind of amusing the only way to see this in the U.S. right now is to torrent one of the many copies of this that are already floating around the internet.

Watching a fuzzy, shaky, low-rez image somebody shot of a movie screen with a hidden camcorder - that's sure not the way I'd want to see it.

The Avengers has already made $178.4 million overseas setting several records in the process. Still has plenty of places to open as well.

A potentially overcompressed dupe of a screener DVD wouldn't be much better, either...that is if studios still issue such things these days. I recall back in 2002, watching a leaked & unfinished cut of Sam Raimi's 1st Spider Man film (some unfinsihed FX & ADR + several shots with the boom mic visible in frame). I might have been a bit more impressed with the final product had I not watched the bootleg first (for the record, I was never a fan of the Raimi-helmed Spidey flicks, although #2 was OK).

I can wait for opening weekend & see The Avengers as it was intended to be seen.
