I just put my whole "review" up in the 3D Content forum but in summary and to quote that kid from The Incredibles...."That was totally wicked!"

I thought I read it is reporting $200,300 as of this morning according to box office mojo. Sorry Harry.

What a movie The Avengers must be! I can hardly wait to see it. As if the accolades heaped on it here, weren't enough, 66,000 IMDB voters have given it an average vote of 8.8, placing it at #31 on the IMDb's Top 250 list. Moreover, 94 percent of the critics who's reviews were collected by Rotten Tomatoes liked it, too. Finally, I am an unabashed Joss Whedon fan. My expectations are so high, I'm almost afraid to see it. Nah, just kidding.

+1. It was good to see him take on a high profile project like this and shine. Saw it yesterday afternoon and audience was applauding after it was over. Be sure to stick around through the end credits. I want this on Blu!

I was never a big fan of the hulk (only saw te bana version, not the norton) but he was awesome in this movie. He was like a supersize Tasmanian devil .

In line to see it for the second time. We arrived an hour early and there's at least 100 people in front of us. At least!

I read that too. And an interesting note, the article also said 40% were women. And when I think about it the theater was about 50/50 when I went yesterday. I know it wasn't that hig

I am a huge Joss Whedon fan and really happy that this is happening to him. The Avengers might have been a big movie even if Michael Bay had done it but I don't think it would be this big nor do I think that people would be crowing about it this much. Hopefully, this will give Whedon a springboard to make his stuff in the more mainstream universe like Apatow was able to do. It certainly is the Whedonesque touches that make this movie rise above the typical superhero movie. On the other hand, it wasn't anything as redefining as Nolan's take on Batman.

Should cross $700 million by the end of its first week and have long legs (considering terrific word of mouth).

I'll bet Disney is grinning this will help off-set John Carter and the upcoming dumb$hit of an idea for a movie: The Lone Ranger.

We loved it. Saw it in a (thank God) proper 2D setup: Bright screen, vivid colors, awesome looking. The dark scenes were not muddy and I cannot imagine how much I would have been hating seeing those sequences in 3D. Ugh.

What a BLAST! It was like I was 14 and the comic books I was reading had come to life on screen. Even my wife was completely into it, not just lusting after Hemsworth, but genuinely engaged in the story.

Smiles non-stop, ear to ear and yeah, the Hulk stole the show and created the two biggest laughs, one that almost caused me to pee out my bursting bladder.

My one complaint... The rude family behind us that had kids, all under 6, who wouldn't shut up or stop crying. The parents were beyond rude and it was really annoying.

By the way, we were at the 11:30 AM show and it was 90% full. On the way out I looked into the 3D showing and it was full as well. That never happens around here. Never. Ever.

This movie is gargantuan and Dark Knight Rises is going to have to be plenty incredible to be the #1 foilm of the year.

Oh yes, I left when the trailers started and came back in whey finished.

And I am going to see this one again, for sure, one day this week when the kids are in school.

I'm going to see it in Kanata after the Ottawa Comic Con this Saturday. Can't wait!

That never happens for big budget flicks like this one at my theater. Plus, I only leave when a trailer begins for a movie I want to see. If that trailer is one of the last ones, I adjust accordingly.

$200.3 Million...

hahaha

Amazing!

I won't be able to see it until next weekend with the kids but...

One thing I find heartening about a movie being this popular is simply that it has so many people going to the movies. (Rather than couch-potatoing in their own home-bubble watching stuff on their TV). For me movie going as a communal experience, the way they have been seen for most of movie history, is the ultimate goal for how movies are to be experienced.

This was a great movie going experience. I can't remember the last time I experienced that level of audience involvement. It's a crowd-pleasing movie. And it brings the comics to life like no other. I'm particularly thinking of a scene where Thor whacks the Hulk with his hammer. That was the perfect embodiment of the kind of comic book panel where someone lands a super-powered haymaker on someone.

I can't speak for others but the IMAX 3D presentation in my area (St. Louis) I thought was pretty spectacular.
I'm just glad I had the choice. I prefer NOT to have 3D rammed down my throat, thank you.
So the post prod. IMAX 3d is not that bad??I'm going tot he WC Moore Warren (take that gwsat!)Tuesday morning so I hope the 3D rocks!!
I can certainly appreciate wanting to have your options for viewing. I plan to see it again and will likely do the 2D just to have the other experience.

I thought the 3D presentation was very good; however, again, I'm not sure where the value of my frame of reference lies. I've only seen a handful of 3D presentations and none of them in IMAX. But what I experienced was a definite enhancement. It wasn't a distracting pop out fest but it was a lot more than just depth and I also felt it made for a stronger comic feel but not cartoonish.

Just saw it at the Burbank ETX. Was a pretty damn good film! great action and comedy all in one. Only gripe was the subs at the theater seemed to shake everything in the theater in a bad way.
