Newbie needing help---again

i originally was going to just go 5.1 but have decided to go ahead and get 2 more speakers to complete a 7.1 i currently have boston cs226 towers for fronts,cs10 sub,cs225 center channel, and cs26 rears i was thinking of either adding 2 more 226 towers for rears and move the cs26 for surrounds or put 2 more cs26 for surrounds which would be the better sounding setup? thanks in advance, travis

CS226 towers are overkill for surrounds (as rears or sides), just not enough audio information in the typical movie surround tracks to justify towers in those positions. Use the CS26 bookshelf speakers for the "sides" and either get two more for rears, or save a few bucks and use CS23's for the rears.

I'm sure someone will correct me if this is wrong, but most current movie soundtracks are mastered in DD5.1 and the 7.1 soundfield is matrixed by the receiver to create the "rear" channels. (some DVD's are mastered 7.1, but they are still in the minority). Thus my opinion that you do not need to spend big bucks on the rear two speakers for 7.1

+1 those cs26s are a steal right now at $75 apiece!

at 75 bucks each that is the way i was leaning for the rears just was not sure if that would be ok with having them for my surrounds as well also i am using a denon avr1910 thanks for the advice

your Denon will handle the setup just fine.
