Watched this movie too. Went into it not knowing a thing about it, and it ended up being very funny.

Huh. I have the Instant-only plan and haven't been asked to agree. Maybe it's disc-rental specific.

There was a class-action suit against them once concerning "disc throttling", which ended in them paying for legal fees, giving the class members some sort of coupons and clearly stating the throttling policy in their customer agreement (not changing it at all). More recently there was a suit over their giving access to some anonymized customer data to contestants in their million-dollars-for-a-significantly-improved-customer-recommendation-algorithm contest which sadly forced them to shut down the competition.

Weeds...

If you've never seen The Wonder Years it's very, very good. Also thirtysomething, though the later seasons have a lot of episodes missing due to music rights etc.

Just finished watching "united states of Tara", pretty good.

Also "How the universe works" was a great documentary series, well worth it.

And, "Stander" that was a good one

Yes, Martin Clunes is ace. He did a long stint in "Men behaving badly" humour's probably a little dated now but it had its moments.

Netflix finally has History Channels 'Dogfights'. A series documenting dogfights with killer (pun intended) graphics narration.

Been waiting a long time for this. Enjoying the heck out of it.

Just wish they could get "junkyard wars" licensed.

I've been watching the British TV show "Peep Show". Pretty funny, but not for young kids.

I'm going to check out the other shows that he's done, thanks for the tip. I already put the series that "keenan" suggested into my que.

I second the recommendation for "We Are the Night." This film brings something extra to the vampire genre, if you can overlook the English dubbing.

Any good ghost movies ? I already seen insidious

I second that opinion. I particularly enjoyed the first two. Sequels of extremely low budget independent films like the first Paranormal Activity tend to get worse as the filmmakers are given huge budgets to repeat the box office heat (witness El Mariachi, though the third movie in the series was pretty good). It's estimated that the first Paranormal Activity was made for $15,000; he got $3,000,000 to make the second one and $5,000,000 for the third.

Yeah, I mean for what they are. The less is more approach which Hollywood forgot for many years. Nothing you can show me on screen can ever equal what my imagination can conjure up which (at least for me) is why they work. That and they were an antidote to the whole torture porn/final destination over the top gorefests which weren't scary at all, just nauseating.

A good ghosty on Netflix is The Orphanage IMHO.

Some of My faves are The Changeling. The shining. The Innocents. The haunting (original). The Uninvited. Ghost Story. The Devil's Backbone. Below. The Eye (original)

Ghost movies, IMHO, are done best by Asian filmmakers. Though not one of the better Asian supernatural movies I did watch this one, Bestseller the other night.

A classic Asian ghost story is Ugetsu Monogatari (aka Ugetsu), usually translated as Tales of Mist and Moonlight. Netflix has this on DVD but not via instant.

It's considered one of the absolute masterpieces of Japanese cinema.

Okay, if you are interested in one very fun, incredibly strange Christmas film, then by all means check out Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale. Watched it last night and when it was over at 3am bought the blu-ray even though I'm still trying to figure it all out. Lot of fun.

Not a Gem but if one is curious Alien Armageddon is now WI. This is one of these homages to early Roger Corman films with cheap special effects and more dependent on dialog than action for cheap shooting. Pretty much a one star effort though I gave it two. But if you are a fan of junk movies as some of us are and they can work if they have some arc and keep you wondering where this thing is going.
