Netflix Watch Instantly: Gems and Finds - Page 59
AVS Top Picks
Your television is reporting that it's receiving 24p from PS3 Netflix? Only a few known Netflix players will output 24p--if the PS3 has joined their ranks that's pretty big news.
Yes it is. I was watching the first season of Lost when I noticed it. See if it works for you
My interest in intellectual--my television can't process a 24p signal. I assume that msgohan tried it before reporting that his was still outputting 60p, so it's not doing it for everyone.
I didn't know that Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange was there (in HD with CCs)! One of my all-time favorite films of one of my all-time favorite novels. Absolutely classic. Maybe a little dated after 41 years, but still looks great.
I see that it was added 5 years ago and was mentioned a year ago in this thread. Strange that I've missed it.
"Neo Ned" really impresses. The characters are real and shine.
Having read "The Naked and the Dead" i kept anticipating and sure
enough Ned fit into the demographic.
The stereotypes are quickly shattered though, very unconventional in
a good way. The lead actress has a bod, oh boy what a bod!!!
Another love story, very emotional and dramatic, yet the characters are strong
enough not to inspire pity or make you want to cry a lot. The main character is
caught in the thick net of devotion, shame, and guilt, and is only allowed a brief
breather that lingers forever and is then rekindled only by pure chance. The
Mercedes was really cool too.

2. Bad Boys 1983 Sean Penn is a maniac in this film but so is his cellmate. A good example of group dynamics at work.
3. The Ghost and Mrs Muir 1947 Good story and acting. Good one to watch with the lady folks. I loved it.
You should read the book, I felt anger reading it growing up in a real Commie country, I am glad the system eventually collapsed.
The real Commie futurama is this one though, the movie just cannot replicate Orwell's description of intimate horror of the ratcage-over-face scene like the book:
Hannibal, 2001 sequel to the 1991 film The Silence of the Lambs (which, curiously, Netflix does not have for streaming, nor Red Dragon or the not-so-great Hannibal Rising). Harris' novel ends the story of Hannibal Lecter, but they copped out and left the door open for a new chapter. A surprisingly good portrayal of Clarice Starling by Julianne Moore and lots of over-the-top fun from Anthony Hopkins and Gary Oldman. I always liked this film, though the critics did not. Worth the price of admission for the gorgeously filmed interlude in Florence (and Hans Zimmer's score) alone.
The film is presented with available HD video, 5.1 sound and English captions.
EDIT: I just watched it again for the first time in some years and enjoyed it.

You beat me to the punch...
We watched this last night and enjoyed it very much. Recommended.
Great minds ..
Yesterday, we got a by mail disk that was cracked .. so, I fired up the Q on the PS3 and knew I had added this a few days ago .. it had a strong star rating for me ..
So, we watched it last night as well .. great movie .. excellent acting .. a real jewel ..
Interesting approach to this movie. As Roger Ebert puts it this film is more of an experience than about any one character. What I carried away from this movie was that we all have hard decisions to make and then we have to live with them. A part 2 might be in order for this one.
