What i really want to know from panasonic is if they actually IPS-Alpha panel on the 42 inch TVs. In the European line up on their web site, they still list the 37 inch and below as Alpha panels. The LED tvs are listed as IPS only and not Alphas. I guess the rules here in the U.S. are so loose that they dont need to put it on the Spec sheet. I seems like if you want a IPS-Alpha panel in 42inch you gonna have to wait for that damn new factory to start working for next year models. They said the factory was gonna be operational by now. I guess not.

I bought the 37u22 model, did some testing which you can see over on the input lag thread. It ended up having around 40ms lag, which coupled with the lower than usual price means that it is probably not an ips-alpha panel.

Thats gonna be a good answer to find out on if these sets include the Alpha or just plain ips panels??? How is screen uniformity on this set??

I would love some info from someone who has purchased one of these sets. Enquiring minds want to know...

On a different note. What are your impressions for the incoming LED TVs that Panny is putting out? A more rhetorical question, but I'll ask anyways. You think a worthy upgrade from the TC-L37G1 (2009 line-up). Ever since seeing all the other LEDs on display I'm just awed buy them. But my TV is not even a year old. I'm a technology whore :P

I cannot find a definitive answer. Is the TC-L37U22 120Hz or 60Hz refresh rate? i see if supports 24p format - does that mean it is 120Hz or not?

I guess you infer that from this:

24p Playback(2:3) Yes

There is not mention of 60 hz refresh rate otherwise.

So I guess they are doing 2:3 pulldown.

I was kinda upset at first when I saw they no longer make a 37" with motion processing. However the 2010 TC-L42U25 42" they have that does use it is already lower in price than last yr's 37". It has Motion Pro 4 too.

I have to admit though, the low street price so soon has me skeptical about the panels used too, esp since it doesn't say Alpha IPS in the Panny site specs.

Gonna wait and see if it has a nice picture in store. I was thinking I need to go no bigger than 37" because it's for multi purpose and I can only sit about 5' from it even if I put it on a stand behind my desk, but after seeing Avatar in Blu-ray on the 46" DLP a friend just got, I'm tempted to go bigger.

getting a 42" guarantees you its not an IPS-Alpha because they only make 32" 1080p and 720p panels and a 1080p 37" panel. thats it

soooooo . . . anyone bought a 42" recently and dissected it to check the manufacturer yet? i saw on the IPS alpha site that the plant was up and running in April with panels supposed to ship out in May and (long story short) I think we should be seeing those panels enter the channels before the 2011 models

bump! in the market for a 32" or 37" and i've got my eyes all over panasonic. can anyone confirm whether or not they're IPS panels?
