I am looking for my first projector / screen setup. I have a dedicated bonus room with an available throw distance of about 17' and flexible seating distance, but looking at around 14'. The only window in the room is going to be behind the screen. I watch 75% movies, and would love to go cinemascope if possible with the Panny 4K. However, I'm in a conundrum about what I can do with covering this window.
I would like the screen to completely cover the window so I can fill the window with blackout material and have it not show. I feel it would be tacky to have a foot or so of window above or below the screen. I contemplated curtains or fabric along the entire wall, but the vaulted ceiling causes some complications. In order to fit a 2.35 screen (with 3" borders), the width would 151", which is WAY too big in my estimation and would require an AT screen for speakers.
Would you recommend going 1.78, then? Or try to cover the wall/window somehow to allow a shorter screen? I don't want to permanently close up the window... Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated!
