32in Plasma/LCD suggestions

Hi, I'm in the demand for a TV for my small room. The TV must be 32inches and my viewing distance will be 10-11ft. It must be able to be mounted on the wall. I'll be using it for cable TV and most likely build a HTPC to use on it for movies and HD content. Also maybe some ps3 gaming. My price range is around $400-500, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Also would 32in be too small for this viewing distance. Should I upgrade to 37in? I decided on 32 because I feel like I dont want to spend too much for this small room.

In our home we sit 11-12' from the TV and we are very pleased by our recent upgrade from a 46 720p HDTV to 55" 1080p HDTV we certainlhy do not want to go back to the smaller size.
The smallest Plasma models available are 720p(1366x768) 40 or 42" models.

If you look around, you can find some 42" 720p Panasonic plasmas for around $500-600. With that viewing distance, 720p will be just fine, especially in a display around 42". IMO, 32" is simply too small from that viewing distance. You may think it's big enough, but time after time people come on this forum saying they made a mistake, thinking 32", 42", even 50" would be big enough, but after some time the itch to go bigger gets very strong. I understand your budget, but if this is a display that will be critically watched (not just on as background noise that you might look at from time to time), you would really be doing yourself a favor by waiting until you can afford at least a decent 42". It's always better to spend money once instead of twice.

FWIW, I sit about 9' from a 60" Pioneer Kuro 151, and in my dedicated theater my first row is about 9' from a 136" 2.35:1 screen (which is about 110" in 16:9, the same ratio as a flat panel display), and no one that sits in the front row ever complains that it's too big. The 60" plasma is the primary TV and gets a lot of use, but I consider it too small to even watch many movies on.

Thanks for the replies. I actually have a 50" panny in my living room which is about 12' viewing distance. The reason I chose 32" is because my room is really small and im being cheap lol. My bed to the wall vertically is about 10.5', and the other side horizontally is about 6', so as u can see its really small. I would consider a 42" but it might be too big on the wall as theres a door near by.

I can consider putting the 32" on a closer wall and use a tilting wall mount to view it. However, I am also kind of considering a 37" because it would fit perfectly on the wall 10' away. Would a 37" be fine?

I'm sorry...I didn't realize the room you were getting the TV for was a bedroom. Not really a critical environment (for most people, anyway), so I would say a 32" to 37" would be fine.

I've got a Pioneer 5010 in my storage closet awaiting a space in the basement right now, and even though I think that's a perfect size for our bedroom, my wife is putting her foot down on that one. Considering her patience with the two systems I've put together, I'm not going to push my luck on getting the 50" in there.

I'm currently looking at the Panasonic l32s1 or the l37s1. Anymore suggestions that fit my needs would be greatly appreciated.

It appears that 2009 model product lines may be the last to have 37" models.
After the Plasma manufacturers dropped 37" models it looks like the LCD manufacturers have also since both 32" and 50" models have proven to be more popular and there is not any financial benefit to them to have another model size between the two.

42" (1024x768). Probably a bit out of his price range.

And most people sit too far away from a tv too small. (:

Personally i'd rather lay in bed looking at a 50" plasma or even bigger.
