Looking at upgrading from Denon AVR-3805 to ????

Want to be able to decode new audio formats and use HDMI otherwise I am happy with my AVR-3805.

Would like some good suggestions for a replacement; I think Denon is just fine but which model? Would consider other makes if they make better sense.

Thanks

I was looking at staying under 2k and use a external video processor. 4810 looks good but.....

Are you looking to buy another Denon or change brands if you are going for a denon again have a look at the 4310.

The 4310 is 2k and has 130w at 8ohms this should be a nice upgrade, and yes it has all the latest HD audio, and all video processing, you will fine a lot of receiver have video processing now days. Are you looking to buy another Denon or change brands

I second the vote for the Denon 4XXX series (I know there's a 4 model below the 4810 which has seven channels vs. 9, assuming you don't need the extra two). I have a 2809 on our primary system and a 1610 on our secondary system and couldn't be happier - especially after running Audyssey.

I have had 2 Denons and have been pretty happy with them so unless there is some good reason to change I want to stay with them.

As I said my main reason is to get the new audio formats and I like the the Audyssey.

I was looking at the 4310 spec sheets and I didn't see any video processing or scaling options checked.Wonder if thats a typo?

I just sold my Denon AVR 3803 which I used as a pre-pro with a Rotel 5ch power amp (RMB 1075). I also sold the Rotel and replaced everything with a Pioneer Elite SC25 (at the great BB price last week). So far I hear a significant improvement in low level listening and clarity compared to my prior setup. I haven't had a chance to really crank it up yet but I think I made a good choice. I think you should listen to the Denon and Pioneer Elites and compare. In the Pioneer line, please note that when you go from the VSX23 to the SC25 you go from AB amps to the Class D ICE amps. You may also want to review the latest issue of Home Theater Mag as they reviewed both the Denon 4810 and the Pioneer Elite SC27 along with the test results.
