Dedicated movie room in a rented appartment : it's possible! - Page 2

That is amazing!

Have any other residents in the building complained about noise?

Haha! No complains! As I stated in my first post, there is a store downstairs and my appartment upstairs, no one else in the building. When the store is closed, it's basically like any single household house.

very nice, has your landlord seen the end result yet?

i'm assuming you have to repaint once you are gone?

Hi! I may have to repaint white if building owner ask for it when I leave, but I live in this place for the last 14 years and have no immediate plans to quit so it's not an immediate issue!

In my neck of the wood, we have laws that are giving renters a great amount of rights. Basically, the appartment occupant cannot "destroy" the appartment nor change its intended use, for example, you cannot setup a store in your appartment. You have to keep a level of salubrity and keep the occupants count reasonable.

Owner cannot forbid pets or smokers, they cannot forbid painting, wall mounting frames, installing blinds or curtains, etc. I bet most wouldn't mind if you were to purchase and have new carpeting installed, if you pay for it.

All my modifications/installations are removeable and the place can be reverted back to original.

Regards,

Awesome setup - very creative use of the room and the equipment!

I'm in Canada also and not happy about the huge price difference in the Panny 4000 in Canada/US considering that the Cdn. dollar is at parity. Can you tell me the name of the dealer in NY you bought the project from and for how much? You can PM me the info if you prefer. Thanks!

Hello lpw! I ordered my Panny from Projector people. I had it shipped to a freight forwarding outfit that is located just a mile south of the border and I went there to fetch it. That cost 3$ plus gas and a couple of hours of my time! Our dear governments collected both taxes when I declared the thing at the Canadian border.

This Panasonic Canadian pricing policy must change!

PS I'm following your thread, my, that's some serious basement overhaul! Good luck!

Hello! First row must be 10-11 feet from the screen.

How are you projecting at 2.40:1. Do you have a special lens on your projector or something? Thanks!

My trusty Paradigm Titans surround speakers started to audibly distord and after nearly 15 years of service, I decided it was time to replace them. I selected the HSU Research HB-1 Mk II as replacements because I wanted to increase the output as well as trying something different. Those have higher sensitivity and higher power handling. I reconfigured my power amps and I curently have a pair of Bryston 2B-LP driving them (200 watts per speaker). They take this much power without any hint of stress and I intend to double the available power with some upcoming new amp. These speakers comes with grill but I wasn't going to conceal the great aggressive look of the raw drivers! They just screams "play some AC/DC, LOUD, please" !!

While I was ordering those, I decided on a new center channel speaker to go along and naturally chose the HSU Research HC-1 Mk II, that are perfect matches. I cannot even begin to describe the enhancement that brought to my system. The lowly Paradigm CC-100 with it's 3/4 soft dome is no match for a horn loaded 1 inche aluminum dome.

This internet-only buisiness offer great products at great prices, compared to the traditionnal brands. I suggest waiting for their sales, for even more savings.

After a suggestion by my Superbowl attending friends to increase seating capacity, I got those nice bar stools, for a great price! They match the decor nicely. I'm still trying do come up with a plan for some shallow bar/high table to go along the stools.

I bought another curtain piece the same style as my other curtains and installed it in the doorway to the laundry/storage room. This cuts out light and sound from the outside, increase the sound absorption even more and do its primary role of concealing the room while allowing the cats to go.
