This is very interesting.....
If you do get a chance, please measure the DRs. Eyeballing them it looks like they may not be constant directivity all the way to the piezo crossover point...but I could be wrong. I have never measured one.
For bang for buck dB sensitivity, can't to go wrong with BFM designs....
I am going with the melded piezo. One DR per channel and if they sound great I will go with 5 of them for my 5.0. I will measure them. First thing first, they have to sound great with low distortion, no compression, and all the detail at reference levels without any harshness. If there is harshness it is a no go. I may also try different drivers if need be. If it does the requirements then it needs to have a big soundtage and huge dynamics. I will sacrifice some soundtage for more live or clearer sound. I will be curious about the midbass as well.
With all the speakers I have owned there are some attributes I would like to get all in one(if possible). I want the big dynamic sound of the JBL's with the feeling of the M&K S-5000's. I would sacrifice some of that big sound for that feeling but not too much. I am curious where these will fall in my own subjective ranking order. No speaker has done everything the best but my big JBL's are the best so far and lack just a little feeling compared to the M&K's but kill the M&K's in everything else. As you have guessed the M&K's had the best feeling of any speaker I have owned. I don't know why it just did, and I miss it.
