I know its personal preferance, but I like the idea of an active crossover for the experimenter. Freqs and slopes adjustable on the fly, attenuation control, adjustable time alignment, non-power absorbing, ect. Of course it is for the experimenter and costs more. dbx driverack series is a step up from the dcx, includes an RTA as well as 2x3 crossover (like getting a DCX, DEQ, BFD and BASSPRO unit all in one unit) http://www.dbxpro.com/PA+/index.php
I think this is the route I'm going to go eventually, swapping in and out various components until I'm pleased. Since you already have the passive crossover coming you might as well go with that for now and see how it works out. You can always change things.
