Archer on FX

Surprised no one has mentioned this as of yet. Funny stuff. Played straight, it's one of the funniest animated shows on TV right now. The first few weren't that good but they're getting much better. I highly recommend people give it a try if they like dry, witty satire.

No one has talked about it because it sucks. The promos looked like it would great. I watched the first two episodes and then deleted the season pass.

I find it hilarious, but I guess that's just me. Btw, I love seeing animated shows in HD. They look so good.

I thought the pilot episode was hilarious and the rest have been pretty solid too. I was a fan of Sealab 2021 but thought that was kind of hit-or-miss.

Watched two episodes so far and like it! I know some shows take time to like, I didn't like the Venture bros series the first time I watched it. It took me several episodes to relate to it's pacing.

I've been DVRing it... but haven't had a chance to watch any yet.

I'm enjoying it for what it is: mindless entertainment. And I find it amusing. Didn't think I would, but I did.

As I said in my OP, the first few weren't that good but now they're really on a roll. Give it a shot.

I would watch a show where H. Jon Benjamin reads the phone book. He has the best voice.

Archer gets picked up for 13 more episodes (Season 2):

So is this show taking place during the "Cold War" '60s or during the modern era? It's so hard to be sure.

I love it. The blimp episode was great.

"Rigid airship" damn it...

I'm really enjoying this show so far.

Then again, I liked most of Sealab 2021 and I think Venture Bros is one of the best shows of the last decade. I wouldn't have tuned in if Fox didn't run a promo on their Sunday night lineup a week ago.

Mo matter what you call it, it's still just a big tinder keg waiting to ignite.

Malory: “If there is a bomb, where would it do the most damage?”
Archer: “This new place called ‘Anywhere?’”

I absolutely love this show. Can't give it enough praise. So quick and dark. Can't wait for Thursday nights and so happy it got picked up for another season. Agree totally with the favorable comments about HD animation, Sealab 2021, and The Venture Bros. Great show.

Why? Is diabetes busy?

Tonight has me confused, and keep in mind I haven't yet watched any of these... just DVRing them for when I have the time to catch up.

Tonight said "new" and "episode 8"... but the title and description were the exact same as for episode 1 that I DVRed weeks ago.

I recorded tonight anyway... but does anyone know if this was a repeat or a new show?
They did a "four play" marathon last night, all repeats*, to set up the climax (season finale), so to speak.

* Diversity Hire, Honeypot, Mole Hunt and Training Day
post #23 of 134
I thought so... It just seemed weird that my Dish EPG said it had a different episode # and was new.

So... right now I have two copies of the same episode, which I'm going to have to remind myself before I start watching.

Also been meaning to ask... since I've seen snippets of this advertised... the animation style and some of the show sensibilities reminds me of Frisky Dingo or SeaLab from Adult Swim... Is it the same creative team behind Archer?
Yep. Adam Reed is the creator.
Cool... I thought it almost had to be... which is one reason why I was happy to DVR episodes until I get time to watch them. Sometimes Sealab & Frisky Dingo were hit/miss, but the good stuff always was so good that the bad stuff was easy to take.
I think the show is a riot. I have to check out sealab now.
What's this sealab show about? Another spoof?
SeaLab 2021 was a spoof of the original Hanna Barbera Sealab 2020 show, with a bunch of people having underwater adventures in a sea-lab under the sea.

Originally it began by re-cutting old footage that Cartoon Network had the rights to... and dubbing new dialog... but eventually they ran through their old footage and began generating new footage in the later seasons.

Frisky Dingo ran 2 seasons (haven't heard if it is coming back or not) and was entirely new much like Archer is... though Frisky Dingo was a spoof of the heroes/villains super-hero genre.

There was also a 2-episode "X-Tacles" spinoff from Frisky Dingo, but I haven't heard more about that either.

I think there are three more episodes remaining(10 total for season #1). The renewal is for 13 episodes next year. Correct?

I saw the renewal for 13 next year... so I think you're right there.

IF there are 10 this year, then there should be 3 left... but I'm confused since Episode 1 & Episode 8 were the same. IF that was an EPG glitch, then we still haven't really seen episode 8.. but I remain confused on that point.

Only thing I know at least is I haven't missed DVRing an episode yet.. and have actually DVRed one of them twice!
