I'm super pissed as this is so suspect. Some blame faulty blu-ray lenses and others are blaming the 3.XX updates mess with hardware functionality on the blu-ray media playback. My second PS3, a 40GB, was not effected by the clock glitch as the 60GB was and it still plays my blu-ray media.
What the hell is going on? I mean this seems like a suspect scam on Sony's end. $150 for a swap for a refurbed Slim is not cool.
Seriously, on the official Sony PS3 boards there is a petition with over 700 users claiming the same issue/experience and Sony is basically playing the innocent I don't know what it could be role and its pissing me off.
Reminds me of how they denied PS1 spinning disk and heat errors and or the PS2 issues reported of which in that case I have little to no experience in but I feel for those users.
I'm getting of the Sony support wagon. I'm really annoyed and insulted by this experience. My two systems are like new in appearance as I babied/baby both and barely use them really. I mean I owned in total 4 PS3 games and hardly played games. I only really watch blu-ray movies on them.
Anyhow whatever... Anyone know anything new or a fix?
I had my original 60gb backwards compatible PS3 for 3 years? and it finally went out November of last year. I tried a new hard drive, as the one in it sounded like it was skipping on start up, then the PS3 would shut down. There is no way that it over-heated, because I had it on for 10 minutes, and had just pulled up Cod4 to play a quick game. I decided to send it into Sony for repair, then went and bought a new 120gb slim. I gave my refurbished 60gb to my brother in law for Christmas. So far, my slim has been running great. I've taken it up to its max fan speed twice, but it cooled down after 3 minutes or so of being there. I thought that the new consoles weren't backwards compatible at all? Or did they just not play PS2 games? I played a PS1 game quite a bit a few days ago, but it strangely locked up twice while playing. Game locked up, not system.
