Thanks user4avsforum, that fixed my problem...I got the Widget Gallery icon back.
I noticed my widgets selection app updated itself today and asked me to turn my TV off and back on before it would show me the list of apps.

I didn't see that on my 552. Any new apps of interest?
It just updated the app but I am pretty sure the list was the same before and after. There may have been two new games but nothing important.

They added a "Fruit Splat" game on Friday. Kinda fun, but has no sound.

just curious, but the 3xvt series vizios are supposed to start releasing on july 1st (at least according to amazon, who has them up for pre-order already), and i was wondering if anyone has seen them yet in costco? haven't been to one in a while, and i know they sometimes get stock in early.
I really wish some decent apps would be released, what's on there now just feels so worthless.

I have the mediabox app on my "Vizio VF552XVT" but, wanted to know where to go to create account...i try to use my Picasa login, passwd...does not work...

Is the Hulu or Hulu Plus app coming to this?

It appears to be available on every major device at this point.

I wouldn't count on it. They haven't even been able to fix the single channel audio problem for the Netflix App. Again, I think it's a case of Vizio having their eye on the next product to come out (although apparently not the 72"). I still love my 552 however after having it for 5 months, but would appreciate more support for the current model lines.

Looks like some future Vizio models may someday have Hulu... though not free:

Isn't is amazing that when they roll out a pay service we suddenly get an app. That is probably when we will finally get a youtube app!

What device have you seen that has Hulu Plus? This service hasn't even launched yet (except via invite only, direct from Hulu).

Vizio has already announced that VIA TV's will get the Hulu Plus app (see link above). I may be reading it wrong, but it seems that current models will get the app when it is released.

Hulu announced long ago that this year they would start charging for their services.

As stated many times VIZIO does not make the apps for the TVs. Can't blame them for something they do not control.

For those of you who have the Vizio soundbar/sub (from the VIP program), have you noticed any sound issues with the Netflix app? I recently noticed that there is a lot of sound stuttering - basically, the sound goes in and out with sound crackling - when streaming anything from Netflix. The soundbar becomes unusable and I actually have to turn it off and use the TV's speakers.

Thanks in advance.

Nope. I've used the soundbar/subwoofer with the Netflix app and haven't had any audio problems.

I'm using the digital output. How about you?

Me too. I'm also using the digital output with no sound problems.

I have the Vizio 552 and soundbar from the VIP program. I have been using analog audio cables with Netflix for about a month, no problems. I just switched to the optical cable, and am experiencing the same issue you describe. I will keep you posted if I find a solution.

For what it's worth,

Yesterday I picked up a Sv472xvt.

The firmware updated within 2 hours of the tv being connected to the net.

What's expected from the 3xvt that's better than these?

Thanks! I really appreciate it. I'm trying to avoid using the analog cables, but may have to because turning them off every time i stream something is not ideal.

I saw the Vizio 'Razor' 47" LED 'M Series' today for $1,100. Looks great! So tempting...

Evey major device? You mean Sony and Samsung stuff, right?

ipad, phone, 360, ps3, misc tvs. I happen to own most of these, so maybe it's just me that I saw it on everything but the TV itself.

I do see on their site it says Fall 2010 for Vizio, so it looks like it'll come around soon enough.

Is anyone besides me really pissed off about the USB not being activated on our 552's yet?

I've called them every 2 weeks and registered a complaint but one CS told me that they don't have a person in company to take complaints like that to.

I really feel betrayed by this lack of support and outright misleading statements made to me to make a sale during VIP program sign up. I specifically asked when USB would be activated and was told 6 weeks at the most. I should have put 2 and 2 together since that was the length of time I had to send set back.

From what I've read it's about to happen to the 553 buyers too.

I don't exactly feel betrayed. I purchased the set knowing they were not being used, and expecting that they may never be. Honestly, of all the devices already connected to my set, 4 out of 6 are USB compatible and read most any file I would want them too. On top of that, a few devices will stream any media or documents I need through the network which means even my thumbdrives are becoming obsolete.

The remote still not connecting (as far as I can tell- maybe I'm wrong) with a PS3 bothers me more, but it's not like I lose sleep over that either.

Anyway, there's a new widget available from Vizio called the Wiki TV Encyclopedia. It uses dynamic search term suggestions (WikiWax?) with Wikipedia.org to access anything from that site. Images are also available to view in preview or full screen modes.

Looks like the QWERTY will be seeing some daily action from me now!
This may turn out to be my favorite widget yet!

I'm glad you have usb devices to connect to the set.
I don't and shouldn't have to pay for any.
Anyone know if the 553 series (looking for the XVT553SV myself) may get upgraded hardware (faster processor, more RAM, etc) to run the Vizio Internet Apps?

And didn't someone hypothesize that inadequate hardware resources may have prevented the USB ports from being activated?

Yeah, but aisde from the PS3 HuLu on those devices is useless since they have not given out 'invites' yet. Unless you are content with 8 random episodes of random TV shows.

Well I should find out in the next day or so if Vizio approves repair on my 552. The ghosting issue I've had is driving me nuts now. Mostly because we are watching the TV more than we were before. Since the issue temporarily goes away with a power cycle I assume it will require the main board to be replaced.

I've included a video of the issue here (youtube keeps blocking it due to the video used).
