I think a lot of us VIA owners are waiting for the Hulu app. On a previous posting it was mentioned that the app will be for the paid version of Hulu though.

Hulu+ is the subscribed version

Wondering.....did the cable cos get the memo? I really hope they'll opt for the ala carte programing model vs. fighting it with bandwidth caps or "network management". Just like the music industry...they appear to be blind to the gobs of revenue (not to mention their survival) right in front of them.

Has anyone else experimented with Flingo?

Went to flingo.org - website flung video showed up in Web Video app but played sound only + black screen. Trying to exit app crashed TV required unplug+replug to recover.

Downloading Flingo windows pc app and attempting to fling a video from my laptop. Not sure anything I have is properly encoded...will see. Will make separate post with video requirements from Flingo.org forums post.

Edit: Same result as above, possibly due to firmware identifying tv as 422 not 552 as it should..calling CS to correct now.

UPDATE: CS helped me fix the issue with Model number and I tried to play "Big Buck Bunny" video that flingo has up as a test, same result.
Sound only. Black Screen with a "play" arrow in the far right corner and no control of set - requires unplugging/replugging before I can even turn the set back on.

Update 2: Fling video from the website still plays sound only and no video - then locks up TV requiring reboot. After this behavior happens then no videos on Web Video will play.
I deleted the widget and re-added it and was able to play the video's already there, but trying to fling the Big Buck Bunny video from the flingo.org website seems to add the video multiple times (like 5+) in the queue. If I try to play it...same deal, lock up. So no progress.
Either our firmware update or some glitch on the flingo.org website/player seems to be the culprit.

Yes, I have used it. I found that if you try flinging anything from your desktop (PC) and it isn't on your C: volume it won't play. Rather than moving all of the files I want to sling I used the mklink command to create a junction point. The one video I flung from the web worked fine.

Thanks for sharing!

Talked to Vizio again on the mini-blinds effect of my 552. I asked several times if the issue was prone to this model since this was the 2nd set that has it and was assured no it wasn't. They are now sending me another new TV though to correct the problem.

Now that the BBC has announced the rollout of iPlayer outside of the UK (first only to the ipad), I nominate development of a BBC iPlayer app. Anyone want to second this?

Is there anyway to pause a web video, switch to a different input to check something, then go back to the web video widget and resume playing that web video?
Depends which type of video you're watching- Netflix lets you stop a movie then resume it later, even on a different computer or device.

I'm inquiring about the web video widget and not Netflix. I think the ability to pause those videos for later viewing would be a nice feature.

I am guessing that there's no way to program a universal remote to navigate the VIA apps (like bring up TuneIn and dial in my favorite local station)? There is no way to know where the VIA "app bar" is dialed at any time, or discrete codes to invoke a particular VIA app.

I have an updated XVT553SV with the Twitter VIA app. It will not log me in to my account. I know the credentials are right and have uninstalled/reinstalled the Twitter app. Is this just a crappy app or am I missing something? I want to watch Twitter during NFL games and it's driving me nuts.

Sorry if this is a repeat, but I looked through most of the pages here and didn't see any mention of it.

Is there any way to make the app windows larger than just the default size? Owner's manual says the blue function button resizes windows but it doesn't seem to do anything.

If you can't make the windows bigger, can you at least open more than one at once? At first, I thought they were sized that way so you could open another window on the same screen, but I don't see any way to do that.

>>I am playing with Flingo right now.<<

I know there is a desktop app to download but is there supposed to also be a widget on VIA too? I could not see any Flingo widgets when browsing the latest widgets.

Flingo is part of that "Web Videos" app. I haven't had time to play around with that, have just watched stuff that's already on there.

Hey all, I just setup a Visio BluRay with Netflix App and encountered the green lines and jumpy video I read about on here. I tried messing with the settings, reconnecting to the Network, turning the player off/on, checking connections, etc. I finally unplugged it in desparation and after plugging it back in & trying Netflix the green lines and blocky images (that seemed to resemble a poor connection) all went away... for now. Thought I'd share for anyone else still having this issue.

Looks like VIZIO succeeded where Google TV failed. In an official press release, the availability of Hulu Plus subscription and Blockbuster on demand have been announced for the VIZIO Internet Apps (VIA) platform. This means that consumers can download watch their favorite shows off Hulu Plus and movies from Blockbuster on their VIZIO TV sets. VIZIO looks like they’re set to dominate the TV scene, especially with a lot of big name apps coming out for the VIA platform. With the massive collection of TV shows from Hulu and all the latest and classic movies from Blockbuster, you pretty much never need to purchase cable or a DVD player again. With apps like Skype and Vimeo coming to the platform, and staples such as Facebook, Twitter, Wiki TV and Netflix, it eliminates the need for you to have a computer as well. It sure looks like the computer is slowly getting replaced – first by smartphones and tablets, and now TVs.

How does the video quality of Netflix, Blockbuster, etc.. compare to watching an actual blue-ray disk?

There's not really a comparison. Netflix HD streams are OK if you have good bandwidth (6mb or more downstream), but it's no comparison to disc.

Vudu HDX is so close to blu-ray that I have a tough time seeing a difference. But the movies cost $6 to rent.

Hulu Plus is a nice addition. I would like to see MLB, NHL, youtube and more web content like you get on the Roku.

I think Vizio will be really huge in a couple of years. The quality of their products have improved in such a short time, and yet their prices are quite low.

Vudu HDX won't work with my internet service- it plays a few seconds then keeps stopping to buffer. HD usually works, the picture seems more detailed than a standard DVD but there are more visible compression artifacts. I usually watch the daily 99-cent movie if it's one I don't already have. Regular prices are a bit high, and I prefer to buy discs and keep them anyways. I'm still mad at Wal-Mart taking away the naughty stuff they used to have, but at least they haven't dumped any of the NC-17 movies, so that still makes them better than Blockbuster.

I just got Hulu Plus and Blockbuster with the new firmware on my Vizio XVT423SV TV. I was also stoked to see the TWit app in the widget gallery.
