My one 554 has been unplugged and disconnected from the internet for 3 days and when I plugged it in to see if the apps dissappeared on it they were gone. It's unplugged again, I will try it in a while and see.

Been noticing all my widgets have been disappearing as well. Seems to happen about once a week. It's happened three times now and it's REALLY annoying since the widget app categories are terrible and it takes forever to find what ones I had.

I wish they'd fix the Netflix app up a bit. I'd like to queue episodes to watch in a row, and I'd like to be able to remove the progress bar when a show is paused.

Looks like HBO wants HBO GO on connected TVs now. Hopefully Vizio gets this out asap. When I think connected TVs, I think Vizios.

this is really yahoo's call as well though, right? yahoo provides the apps via their interface, but vizio has to greenlight it to appear...as they didnt with yahoo's youtube app.

I just got a XVT553SV, connected WiFi. I added and registered the tunein app. How do I listen to it? When I open it, choose a station, etc the TV audio remains on but the app's audio produces nothing. Obviously, I am in the "learning" mode. Any help is appreciated.

Are you using the TV speakers or a receiver? if you are using the receiver, you need to use the optical out (or another output) and redirect it to the receiver. I suspect that since you mention that you hear the TV audio and when you launch the app, it should not have any TV channel showing up. I have the same TV and did use the TuneIn radio when I first bought the TV. I just tend to use my android phone for TuneIn these days. I will give it another try when I get home.

Using a receiver. I will take your advice regarding the optical out. Right, no TV channel showing up when Tunein is launched, just the channel's audio. Thanks much.

I posted this on the 554 thread but want to post it here too since this has to do with apps.

I wonder what Vizio is doing. This weekend I had 34 new widgets on the 553, giving it a total of 20 pages of widgets to choose from including Blockbuster, Hulu Plus, Showtime, etc.

On the 554 there are 9 pages of widgets. They are NOT updating anything on this set.

Are you sure that you're not looking at the "latest" section of widgets on the 554? I have a 552 and have about 20 pages of widgets (99% worthless!) but the "latest" section has 9 pages.

I have my 552 for about a month,purchased from Dell ,not knowing it's an older model ! I have only 8 pages of widgets, never updated, have called vizio, they claim they are sending a usb key to force an update, which will also update widgets ? No tune-in,hulu plus, blockbuster etc.. Don't know if this is actually happening or even true, what I was told on the phone, they had me do a factory reset twice, which did nothing !

Yes, I did make sure, just checked it again, other people with the 554 report the same. It seems like the 554 has been abandoned. We are still on the initial FW the set came out with. I love my 553 but I like the Glossy Screen of the 554 better otherwise I would not have bought it.

Well for the most part I have stopped using the VIA apps except for tune-in radio and Pandora. On Netflix, since they combined all seasons of shows into one listing several episodes will not show up. For example, I opened Star Trek: The Next Generation and saw several episodes missing from the 3rd season. I just happened to be on my PS3 and opened Netflix there and all episodes are listed. I tried the Konami style code to reset netflix and it was still the same. I also have Hulu plus and it is painfully slow to navigate with the 552. A lot of times it will catch up and overshoot what I am trying to get to. When compared to the app on the PS3 it made me really hate the app on the TV. I've sent these complaints to to Vizio, Netflix and Hulu but was told they had no timeline if any of these items would be fixed.

I received a usb key for the firmware update, and then I received 2 more , so I now have 3 but, updated all and now have 20 pages of apps, but am wondering if anyone knows what the media app is suppose to do ? all it says is that , no media is found ? Is it to finally use one of the usb connections ?

Yes you can use that "app" to view pictures or listen to mp3s but no movies.

And S-T-I-L-L no YouTube app!!!

I finally rec'd my update yesterday morning but didn't get a chance to fiddle with it 'til today. (sigh). Again.......99% worthless but then I remembered........."Oh ya, we've been waiting all these months for the YouTube app so it should be there by now, right? WRONG!!"

You can take all of the other apps away. Gone! Don't need 'em. There's YouTube, then there's everything else. They've been promising since CES.....LAST YEAR!!!

On a positive note, I now have a cool new Transformers logo on the bootup screen. OOooooooh....Aaaaaaaah!!

So I've got a 552, purchased it right when it came out and haven't had any problems until the other day when I got a new Wi-Fi router (I picked up a Vizio XWR100 to replace a D-Link DIR-655 that had become very unreliable - it's working great). While I was putting the settings into the TV I noticed that my widgets had disappeared much like people on here have noted. I don't really use them as I cancelled Netflix and we typically get movies from Redbox but I thought it was odd.

It sounds like I need to contact Vizio and obtain one of these firmware USB keys - is that accurate? Or will one just "show up" magically at some point?

I've got a E322VL and last night I noticed that I'd lost all my widgets. I unplugged the tv this morning and plugged it back in this evening but no change.
I can't get into profile, I can't find the widget gallery.
I sent an email to Vizio Service but am open to any and all suggestions. I really like the Netflix and Pandora app's.

This has happened to me and they came back in a day or so. Don't know what causes it. But they should come back.

Here is the email I just received from Vizio. I will give this a try tonight when I get home.

"I apologize to hear you are having difficulties with your VIZIO TV.
Here at VIZIO we offer best in class technical support.
I would recommend performing a power cycle on your TV. Please follow the steps in this order:

1- Power off TV
2- Unplug TV from outlet
3- Press and hold in the power button on the TV for 30 seconds (while it is unplugged from the wall)
4- Release the power button
5- Plug in the TV into a different outlet
6- Power the TV back on

There is also a factory reset option in your menu under the SETUP or HELP section.
It will say either "reset all settings" or "system reset". If your TV is internet enabled, you will see Clear Memory. Please select this.
You will need a parental code override. "0000" or "1234" are the default codes.
By doing this, you will need to complete the initial set-up of your product.

Has anyone found the iPhone app for the Vizio Remote? I saw the January 2010 demo of it online, but cannot find the Vizio IPhone Remote App anywhere...

Also, has anyone found a way to watch MPEG via the apps?

There is a Vizio Remote app on iTunes, but it requires additional hardware to work. http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/iwavi...420660167?mt=8

It may be easier to control your TV thru the set top box. For instance, I have FIOS TV and can use the FIOS Remote app on my iphone. Works great!

I am Vizio VIA noob ..

How does one skip to the next web video? The only thing I was able to do is press STOP and return to the main layout and select the next video. There does not appear to be way to skip to the next video.

marknga - I have that model and I lost all my widgets last month, too. However, I could access the widget gallery. Since I primarily just use netlflix on that TV, I added back that app manually. Still haven't gone back through and added back all the widgets I liked. What a PITA.
