EDID Overrides to solve bitstreaming issues for ATI 5xxx's - Page 51

Hi
I'm having hard time trying to bitstream hd audio through ati 5770 to my avr. Can You please help me ? My Tv is philips pfl425604h and my avr is onkyo ht-r538. Oh and btw I have my gpu connected to avr and then avr to tv is it good? I read in the tv manual that I should always connect sound to avr through the tv.

Thanks Tulli. HDMI is already set to no TV audio passthrough. I've read a thread somewhere on this forum where someone needed to use an override although he had cat 10.6 installed. Maybe it is so in my case as well? In mpc hc I get no sound even though ffdshow indicates that it's bitstreaming, and in tmt3 I only get pcm no matter what. In powerdvd 10 I only get Dolby Digital instead of true hd and dts instead of dts hd. Well, I have no idea what to do now.

I can't get moninfo to create 256-byte edid so I created this log in softMCCS

Thanks a lot Tulli but unfortunately it didn't help. Still bitstream doesn't work for me. I used up all the options now.

I returned the ATI HD 5670, used my nvidia 9400. Nvidia driver let me choose an hd resolution in the the display properties. Got the Xonar slim, Total Media Theater was able to bitstream to the Onkyo. Thank you Tulli for you help.

Hello Please pardon the newbie in me. I have a hd65 and and Harmon Kardon avr254 receiver. Along with an ati 5400. I cannot get it to display anything but multi channel pcm. I have the hdmi cable out of pc going directly into the avr 254 and get a picture on the screen . If I plug the projector into the back of the pc it will not ever find a signal.. All I am looking for is the proper audio display. Thanks for any thing you can provide me.

Need some help. I have an ATI 5570 and Onkyo 606 AVR and am running Catalyst 10.7 64 bit on a Win 7 x64. HDTV is a Samsung LNT4671F. Even with an HDMI Detective Plus device, after my AVR and TV have been off for an extended period of time, when I power them back on, there's no video and AVR reads NO SIGNAL. I have no issues bitstreaming dts-HD or TrueHD at all... just maintaining a video signal. I've since placed an HD tuner in this machine... it runs fine, only I am constantly having to reboot it to restore the video the the AVR->TV. Have placed the HDMI detective between the PC and AVR as well as removed it from the equation. Not sure what to do and I'd hate to swap out my ATI card and lose HD audio for an nVidia card... am trying to exhaust all efforts before going that route. Only now that this same PC is serving as my DVR w/ TV tuner, I want to be able to switch over to the PC and have active video with no waiting. Anyone have any tricks? Seriously makes me never want to buy ATI again.

I know, I was excited when I read that several months ago. I have TrueHD and HDDTS listed in the audio control panel, but I can't get PowerDVD or TMT (TMC or what ever it is) to regiznize the option for HD audio. I'll try AnyDVDHD I guess?

anydvd didn't help. still no HDAudio option.

have the ati HDMI driver you listed. and put on CCC 10.7 Still only get AC3 sound, but no HD :-(

I have the proper format now (I think) and even included the powerDVD info

could you check it and see what I'm missing?

Yes I have PDVD9 (updated) and tring to get the 3rd audio option.

Quick question. I am re-setting up my HTPC (ATi HD5670) and it is connected to my Denon AVR-789 (which is essentially an AVR-1909). Installed latest catalyst drivers today and installed PDVD9 build 2320.

First title I tried was a DTS-HD MA title, and the high definition option appeared in PDVD immediately. Select it, and the receiver shows DTS-HD MA. Beautiful.

Now when switching to a TrueHD title. The high definition audio option in PDVD is there, but when selected, the receiver still shows "Dolby Digital". Is this a known problem?

I was under the impression that since Catalyst 10.4 I wouldnt need the EDID override? Is this correct?

got the receiver to work, but the projector will only do 128. I tried monino and getEDID (that was the one that at least gave me 256 or onkyo). ran both as admin

Is there another tool? my projector shows as DVI, is that the problem?

It's a bummer I can't get this this to work :-(

Sorry maybe you misunderstood my post. I am starting from scratch with fresh install of windows. EDID is not currently installed. All that has been installed is ATi driver and I'm not getting any TrueHD

thanx... that puts me in the right direction. I have the PC set to 720p because that's the only way to get sound from the card and the projector adjusts to that format. The projector supports HD 720P and 1080i, but is not native HD. It's 1024x768 native, and that is what is messing things up. That really helps a ton, and know I know what the problem is and what to do about it. This whole time I though it was software.

Well it seems I can't get live TV to work in WMC without the Realtek HDMI drivers installed, and these Realtek drivers seem to undo the good work of the ATI drivers in the handshake department. What a vicious circle! Haha.

So looks like I will need an override. If you can bang one up for me that would be great. Components are Denon AVR-789 and Panasonic TH-42PZ800A
