EDID Overrides to solve bitstreaming issues for ATI 5xxx's - Page 91

Nope doesn't work I have the feeling that my pc keep using the integrated audio module for decoding and bitstreaming even though I'm using HDMI connection from the GPU. As disabling the motherboard integrated sound would make PowerDVD mess up totally when I try to configure Audio settings.

I am trying to go from my AMD 6850 to a denon 791 3d amp to the lg d2342p monitor. When using this setup with my Samsung 40" lcd (non 3d) I get my bios load screen, windows load screen, and then finally the desktop. Switching to the LG monitor, I do not get anything but a back lit black screen. It seems that I am going into the wrong resolution.

The options for the denon do come on screen when connected to the LG and it shows the correct information passed from the computer to the monitor. It should be in a resolution the monitor can handle. I would think I would at least get my bios load screen if it were a driver issue.

Using the same setup from an xbox360 or a ps3 I do not have any issues from load to game play to 3d game play. If I boot using the dvi and then turn the amp off switch to the hdmi on the screen, I sometimes get a desktop. 1 out of 20 or so times.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Check cables or connections on the DENON (try switching connection to different ports). Your monitor is 1920x1080 so there should be no resolution issues going through the Denon.
Well it works but the issues is weird. Connected directly from video card to monitor all resolutions etc work. When connected to the amp the monitor is confused about the 3D so you have to go to the menu on the monitor, 3d settings, and change any one setting, even if it is wrong, it brings back the pictures. Every resolution change does this.

I think it is a Monitor firmware issue.

Hi, I'm having a hard time getting my htpc to recognize all of the supported sound formats for my preamp. I seem to be missing the following settings according to the EDID information I pull:

LPCM 2-channel, 16/20/24 bit depths at 32/44/48/88/96/176/192 kHz
LPCM 6-channel, 16/20/24 bit depths at 32/44/48/88/96/176/192 kHz
LPCM 8-channel, 16/20/24 bit depths at 32/44/48/88/96/176/192 kHz

Could you please add these setting to my inf file? It's for an Anthem AVM 50 preamp. Thanks in advance.

EDID audio specs (and according to the user manual from what I can see) are for 5.1 only. You can use this same capture EDID for an override. You should get 2-LPCM and 6-LPCM with no issues:

Thanks for your response. You are correct, I am getting 2 and 6 channel lpcm up to 96khz with no issues. However, this preamp should be able to do 8 channel up to 192 khz. For some reason those settings are not being detected or not being sent out correctly. When I force 8 channel @ 192 on my PS3 the preamp correctly identifies it and shows it in the info screen. I believe that this is whats keeping me from being able to send DTS-MA or TrueHD converted to lpcm out to the preamp. I would like to try an EDID override to see if this fixes my problem, but haven't been able to find one that works.

Ok, try the attached EDID override. I've added 8-LPCM & 8 Speakers capabilities.

Thank you for this. Unfortunately it didn't work and I get no sound at all when I install this. I'm asking for help in this preamps official thread and will report back here if the issue is EDID related.

Check the Supported Formats tab on the HDMI audio device control panel. It should show 8 channels + DD & DTS. Do you get Windows test tones?

The Supported Formats always showed the correct formats from the inf files I installed. No windows test tones.

I got a response from someone in the preamp thread. Apparently, the setting that changes to 8 channel when I force the ps3 is meaningless and it doesn't use 8 channel audio. Just detects it somehow...

Thank you for your help.

Hi this is my first ever post on here! The reason why I even joined is because recently I have installed a sapphire 5670 ATI card and it's hooked to my Denon avr 1910 receiver, in the control panel for my audio device(vista home premium SP2) I have not been able to see the DTS MA HD or TRUEHD options come up, I have also experiment with MPC-HC with FFDshow and at best have been able to get the TRUEHD audio from a clip sent by LPCM. I have also played a BD on PowerDVD 11 and although I get the option of sending the HD audio to be decoded by my receiver no sound gets played back, I have spent 3 or 4 days now installing/uninstalling this that and the other! I have tried a EDID mod by replacing the generic pnp monitor on windows with an INF created by moninfo based on my reciever but still no joy, finally I have ensured the two HDMI cables I am using have 1.3 compatibilty. One thing I have noticed is that if i directly attach the graphics card to my tv the scaling is different to what it is if i have a connection to my receiver, could this be a clue? I am using catalyst 11.9 with the hdmi driver from the install package, I am submitting my TV and receiver INFs in case they need modding, this is driving me crazy now and I really need help please!

Is the Denon HDMI set to "AMP" (no passthrough of the TV audio)?

hi I have Sony vaio notebook ati 5650 => Denon AVR 1611 => TV SONY KDL-40HX700. I can not get HD audio from the TMT 5 but MPC-HC everything works except DD +. I do not know what could be a problem

To get DD+ use LAV audio decoder (together with LAV splitter).

Can't tell what the problem with TMT5 really is, but:

1. Use AMD native HDMI audio driver (an older version preferably, e.g. 11.4).
2. Try a "stable" TMT5 version (e.g. version .87).

Thanks for providing the mod, I am working a night shift here in the uk and will install it as soon as i can, thanks again for your help so far

Tulli in TMT 5 in the options "Sound Card" and I set the ATI HDMI "OUTPUT MODE" I have SPDIF. And instead of DTS-HD MA receives regular DTS. I installed everything as you wrote. Remembering that in MPC-HC and obtained SPLASHpro sound DTS-HD MA and DD True HD. only those programs I have otwarzać individual files and it is annoying

No, set Output Mode to "HDMI" and Mixing Mode to "Original primary audio only".

Tulli, I applied the driver and my reciever is now lighting up with the TrueHD and DTS-HD texts, thank you so much! Do you have a paypal account?

Not an EDID issue, but it looks like an AVR limitation. Are you sure that the VSX-521 can really output 192/24 on all channels? Being a low-end receiver ($200 on Amazon, I see) it seems unlikely to me (even if on specs).

You should be able to get 96/24 though, which is plenty, even more than necessary for AFAIK there are very few 96/24 multichannel PCM BDs out there (even if you could really hear the difference against 48/24 or 48/16). And then there's mostly the option of bitstreaming TrueHD or DTS HD. So not really an issue to be concerned about.

Thanks tulli.

you are right it seems like an AVR limitation.

the limit is till 96 hz 24 bit.
