I did not test an adapter when I created the program. It is possible that it is not passing an EDID at all with the adapter (as evidenced with the missing supported modes in your screenshot).

I have an adapter but I'm not sure when I will be able to test it.

Yes, that's correct. Check that AC3 and DTS are listed as supported formats for the HDMI audio device.and make sure to reboot after installing the override.
rebooted but all i see is dts and dolby.. i might not have my hdmis in the right spots.. my manual doesnt tell me which one is used as input and which ones arc.. assuming i can even use arc with this tv :/confused.gif
post #3308 of 3895
ok so now have sound coming out of 5.1 via computer -> hdmi -> hdtv -> optical -> surround. But is it at all possible to get dts master or true hd? still no ac3 in the encoded formats and when i go to configure the speakers its just giving me stereo to choose from..

No, with S/PDIF bandwidth you can only get 2LPCM or compressed multichannel (e.g. AC3 or DTS). Is your connection HTPC - TV - ht d5300? Or rather HTPC - ht d5300 - TV?
hdtv - tv - ht d5300.. and that sucks. i will keep trying different connections with the hdmi cords till i get any sound.. in the mean time am i supposed to see "ac3" in supported formats under the hdmi audio device? becuase its not there... if i understand tho it will only show up if the computer reads the connection from the ht d5300 through the tv.. correct? thanks for helping me out with this.
my htpc has an hdmi out.. and my tv has 4 diffrent hdmi inputs so i was only assuming it could passthrough audio with the right combo.. then my ht d5300 has an hdmi out..( i know hdmi out doesnt make sense. but ive talked to another person with the same model (ht d5300) who has sound coming through 2 speakers all by hdmi connections... diifferent tv tho..)

Check the installation procedure on first post. If the EDID overrride is correctly applied AC3 and DTS would show up as supported formats.

Any ideas on using the digital mini display port?

Would I be able to use the edid from the VGA connection to override the EDID on the mini displayport/hdmi connection?

Or will I see no difference in image sound/quality?

What is moninfo reporting as a the real-time EDID? If no real-time EDID is detected then there is definitely a connection problem that couldn't be fixed in anyway with an EDID override. If no connection can be established there's only the choice of trying another cable/adapter/connection of course.

Hi guys

I know it is ati5xxxx thread but I have issue with my Ati 6850 - Onkyo HT-R390 - Samsung plasma PS50C7700, I don't get any DTS-HD but only up to DTS- and 3D is working great. Sorry. Forgot all about this. I'm digging out my Display Port adaptor now to test.
Hm... that's not going to work. I have a regular Display Port -> HDMI but my 6970 has a mini DP connection. I'm still going to look at the GetEDID code though and see if I can figure out why it's not getting the EDID.
@Tulli

Thanks 3D is ok but I don't have DTS-HD again. Can you maby combine PS50C7700 and ONKYO TX-NR906, if that is even possible !

Not needed. DTS-HD descriptor is present in your mod:

Check that all audio formats are listed under "Supported Formats" for the HDMI audio device. Is that a dual monitor setup? Is the plasma set as primary monitor?
After lodes of looking around I think I finally arrived in the correct corner of the internet to solve my issue.

i have an AMD centered HTPC (A6-3500 apu) that is giving me troubles.
The setup:
HTPC ==(hdmi)==>Yamaha rx-v667==(hdmi==>Epson EMP TW9000 projector
+
from the yamaha I connect to a 7.1 surround setup (Boston A)

This all works good (including bitstreaming truehd with XBMC AE build) except for 3 things:
- Windows is supposed to detect my AVR as a monitor, but doesn't
- I cannot run windows 7 in higher mode than 1080p 30hz interlaced. If I go higher I get glitches when opening control panel etc. 720p 60hz does work
- When I do not turn on the projector, but connect via rcmd and just start music, the AMD audio HDMI connection goes to not plugged in after 5ish minutes

Do you think an EDID override could solve one or more issues?
Also, if I read the guides it says to roll back to defautt pnp monitor, but do i also need to uninstall the latest ccc drivers?

Try fist cleaning up all monitor driver leftovers in the registry (1st. post, section 4), reboot and see if redetection fixes the problem with the video timings. If OTH the AVR has a glitch replicating the projector EDID an override would fix it.. Finally the AMD audio being "not plugged" is a driver issue.

If in the end an EDID override is needed post the native real-time EDID of the TW9000.

Hello Guys,

I was surfing the web desperately for months to find a solution for not getting HD audion on my Onkyo HT-R380 (TV: Samsung LE40C530; VGA: Shappire Ultimate HD6670 [catalyst 12.8]) - Finally got to this thread.
Does a quick solution exist, or do I have to play around manually?

Yes, look at the table on 1st. post for closest mod to your setup. Or search through the thread for similar mods for a 5.1 AVR.

Sorry, I missed that list at the end of the post
I used the advised general Samsung-Onkyo combination... and it works!

Thanks
I installed it and now my rx-v667 shows up as a monitor but none of my other issues are fixed.
Maybe it would be better to open up a new topic for this, so tell me if this has nothing to do with EDID.
When I boot up my pc in 1080p@60hz, all is fine
The TW9000 reports to be working at 1080p@59.9997
Then when I open certain things (control panel, gmail, tweakers.net, context menu in explorer,...) the resolution somehow changes, the screen glitches and my projector will go (very briefly) into the not supported mode. It goes too fast to read but it says something like
- Not supported resolution: H:60,1777 V:161,875
The the screen goes blank until I ALT+F4 the running app.
It does not do this in 720p@60, 1080i@30 and 1080p@24
It also does this when bypassing the AVR
It does not do this when the applications are not full screen (I think)
It does not do this with XBMC (real fullscreen or windowed fullscreen)

My HDMI audio issue got worse btw. Now it will not send anymore sound to my speakers when the projector is off. Before it did this for 5ish minutes, then the 'not pluggin in thing happened' I based myself on this post to have this fix the issue

You should not need an override for an RX-V receiver with an Epson projector unless you want to default it to a specific resolution.

Here are some Yamaha receiver settings I posted for someone else. It was an RX-V863 but it should point you in the right direction with the 667:

I also have an option in the advanced setup to skip a monitor check that may or may not be useful for you.

Turn off AVR.
Hold "Tone" and press "Power" on AVR.
Use the "Program" dial to go to "Monitor Check..."
Press "Tone" to toggle the setting (options are "Yes" or "Skip").
Press "Power" to save setting.

Try those settings before applying an override.

Using this, Favelle got it working with his HTR-6xxx and and Epson 8100. And I have no issues with either of my Yammys and my Epson 8350.
