I haven't been checking this thread regularly, so I've only just noticed that you've found the root cause of the issue.

One thing that still confuses me - if the AVR EDID causes the issue, does that mean that a standalone Blu-Ray player will have the same problems bitstreaming TrueHD?

No, standalones are fine AFAIK. My guess is that they simply ignore these EDID specs. Otherwise DENON and SONY would have already addressed the issue (ONKYO has in fact). It's definitely surprising to see that latest DENON models still exhibit the problem.

I saw earlier in this thread that the EDID was OK on the 3007 someone sent in, so I doubt this is my problem, but thought I'd see if anyone has some thoughts.

I just purchased a Gigabyte ATI 5450 card and installed in my HTPC.

My PC sees the HDMI, as I can set it as default, and TMT sees it too. As well, the drivers sees the Onkyo because the display in the Catalyst drivers page says: 1. ATI Radeon HD 5450 (TX-NR3007 + DDC Display]

But on the Onkyo, when I try to select HDMI for the Audio in setup, it does not show, so I cannot select it.

I will be posting this in teh Onkyo thread, as well as the 5xxxx thread. Hopefully someone will have some ideas.

Thanks for any advice you can offer

The Integra40.1 EDID is fine. DTS-HD & TrueHD descriptors have no flaws.

Hi Tulli,

I've just done some re-testing, and my Onkyo TX-SR607 works perfectly without an EDID override. So feel free to add that to the list of working receivers.

The 607 firmware is also shared by the 507 and 577, so I assume these will work fine too.

You previously created an EDID override for me (thanks!) but my audio problems must have been related to ffdshow configuration, rather than EDID. Do you want to remove the Onkyo 607 EDID from your database to avoid any confusion?

Hi!

I have problems for bit-streaming hd audios...and in the arc soft forums they told me to come here....I' ve tried one edid from the 1st page(the one for onkyo+panasonic)...but it says that is not compatible with the OS...my av recevier is an Onkyo 507 and the tv is a Panasonic p42s10...As is said...the windows 7 32 bits, says that the .inf is not compatible with the system...

I don't know if it's a problem of the edid or what...I'm trying those thing with the tmt 3.0.170...

if it helps..i cannot bitstream any Hd audio..it crashes when change to those audios...

Could someone help me?

Sorry but Onkyo 507 does not require an EDID override to bitstream.

Do you have the Realtek driver installed? It doesn't work with TMT3.170.

no...I'm using the ATi Hd audio driver...in the program (tmt3) i can select to bitstream the audio trough hdmi and so...but then...when i choose the hd audio the program crashes down...

if it helps..i have:

-the latest ati drivers (10.2)
-tmt 3.0.170
-ffdshow latest one
-haali media splitter 1.9.355.21
-AC3 filter from augist 2009
....

the thing is that i remeber using the power dvd, with an original bluray and it works..but power dvd doesn't work with bluray folders...that why i try tmt...so it's a config problem...isn't it?

Maybe trying windvd 2010....

Not sure about TMT3 .170 but yes, PDVD9 bitstreams only with mounted ISO images, if you want to play from hard drive.

Maybe you should ask in both TMT3 and Windvd2010 about bitstreaming support for disk folders.

Have you already tried the Panasonic TH-42PZ700U - DENON AVR3808 mod on the list? Should work for you. But of course, if you have video issues let me know and I'll do the mod.

Without the override you should get DTS HD bitstreaming with no issues. If you can't then problem is with your setup, so that an EDID override won't make any difference.

What is your player and configuration (OS, audio driver)?

I use the MPC-HCE 1.3.1752.0 with Ati Catalyst 10.2 audio driver on Win7 32bit with the ffdshow_rev3299_20100303_xxl. And I only get a stereo bitstream, no HD bitstream. I do not know what is wrong if not the EDID.

Follow dbone1026 MPC-HC setup guide linked in his signature (it's been already posted one or two pages back in this thread). Also, try using Albain's ffdshow builds as they work best for most cases.

On top of that there's the obvious: make sure that the ATI HDMI audio driver is set to 5.1 or 7.1. And make sure that the DENON HDMI is set to "AMP".

I already had everything as you suggested but one thing:
There is another setting in the DENON receiver, I had to set besides HDMI to "AMP", and that is the "2.3.4 Auto Surround Mode" which must be set to "OFF". Only then it works completly.

But now it is working fine with the Panasonic TH-42PZ700U - DENON AVR3808 mod, thank you very very much!

Never got an answer here, but I did in the Onkyo thread. For anyone interested, HDMI does not show as an option in the Audio setup on the 3007. I had to select ----,and now it plays throught the HDMI.

BUT, I do not get TrueHD Bitstreaming
So, maybe it is not true that the EDID is OK for the 3007.

What I have done in the setups so far:
  • I have set HDMI as default audio device
  • I have tried various settings in the Realtek setup, and currently have it set to 7.1
  • I have TMT set to play HDMI, and use Original Stream

But all I can get on the AVR is DTS, Dolby, or Muti Channel. No TrueHD.

FYI...I do get TrueHD from my Samsung Blue-Ray player.

Any thoughts is appreciated.

I've downloaded the Moninfo tool and have been reading your instructions at the first page of this thread. I really hate to bother you with this question, but I'm not sure I understand. The first instruction of:

Connect the graphic card HDMI-in to your display device HDMI-out.

implies to me that the graphic card will have an HDMI-in port, which would imply to me that it has 2 HDMI ports: 1 in and 1 out. I have the Gigabyte 5450, and it has 1 HDMI port, OUT.

Then same applies to my display, which by the way, is a SIM2 Link 300 projector. there is 1 HDMI port in it, and it is an HDMI-IN, not out.

So I am confused on how I should hook up to get the readings.

I presume youd do need me to try to get it from the Projector and the Onkyo.

Sorry to bother with what should be basic. I guess my brain just isn't in high gear this morning.

Sorry about the confusion ... I will eliminate the "in" and "out" as they are really irrelevant. Connections should be:

1. ATI <=> Projector (to capture the projector EDID)

2. ATI <=> AVR (to capture the 3007 EDID)

And connection must be digital, o course, i.e. DVI/HDMI.

But you would capture only the 3007 EDID, as current hypothesis is that it really doesn't require to be EDID-overriden to bitstream. If proved to be otherwise after checking then the projector EDID would be required too.

I am using ATI 5450 and HK AVR 2600. MonInfo shows HK supporing 192Khz however, whenever, I play a blu ray movie with DTS HD audio the sound format is down-sampled to regular DTS. I have been reading three different threads and after reading 70% of those, I still cannot find an answer. In powerdvd, I get only two options, pcm decoded by powerdvd or non-decoded pcm. Please review the bin file.

Secondly, I would like to split my hdmi out to both tv and avr. Monoprice splitter is doing exactly that, however, windows sound panel configures speakers to only two channels when signal is split and I get regular dts/DD only. BTW, the first problem has nothing to do with splitter, there, the signal is going directly to avr. I wonder if there is a way to disable jack monitoring so windows sound will always remain as 5.1.

Just checked and the HK 2600 EDID is fine, so no need to mod it to bitstream.

As for the HDMI splitter it is transmitting the TV EDID and thus the 2 channel problem in Windows. You may try an EDID override with the HK 2600 EDID as-is and see if it works.

Tulli, thanks a lot for your reply. After a lot of install/uninstall, I now see that while playing a blu ray, power dvd has a third option that deals with sending uncompressed audio to AVR.

When you say EDID override, you mean creating a .inf file using moninfo and using it as my display driver, right? I have tried that and as soon as pc sees the splitter the windows speaker config changes to stero and no HD audio after that. According to this old thread http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/archi...t-1181876.html there is a service by ATI that can be disabled to fix this issue, however, I am not seeing it anywhere. I am going to start disabling all audio related services to see if I can figure it out, unless someone has a better idea.

I'm going to be nitpicky and I apologize up front for it, but, it's sending COMPRESSED audio to the AVR. The reason that I press this distinction is because it's confusing. LPCM = uncompressed, TrueHD/DTS-HD MA = compressed (aka bitstreaming). I know I'm annoying with this and again I do apologize.
