I bet Samsung gets a fee to show these apps as Recommended.

Change the output resolution from Auto to something else (like 1080p). BD Wise will automatically change to Off.

You can adjust Picture (Contrast), Sharpness, and Noise Reduction by pressing the Tools button while playing a video. The default is Picture = Normal (medium contrast), Sharpness Off, Noise Reduction Off.

Anyone else having problems with the audio not syncing when 24p is turned on?

Also, I'm using the 5.1 analog outs from TruHD tracks, but the bass is much weaker than using the optical out. Any way to fix this?

to get out of the locked screen.
Then the machine has to completely reboot and most of the time will
then play the dvd properly.

Anyone?

I have a friend with this Blu-Ray player. I have a bunch of videos in MKV format that I'd like to play on it. They have MPEG4 video and ASS subtitles. Will they work if I extract the subtitles?

Also, which file systems does it support on USB drives? Is there a size limit? Thanks!

I have recently purchased and hd tv and blue ray player. The tv u
Is an lg 46lh90 and the player is a samsung bd6500. I have several hdmi cables and connect both my tv box and computer to the tv via hdmi. When u connect tv blu ray player it appears that the signal keeps cutting out the screen will flash every now and then. I know the cables are good and have tried different ports but it still keeps happening. I connect the player to another tv and it works fine. I'm at a loss because this doesn't happens when the computer or cable is connected with the same port and cable. Any ideas?
This is happening to mine as well. I thought the problem was with the TV being the blu ray player seemed to work fine on another TV. It happens numerous times while watching a DVD. It looks like the picture is trying to switch aspect ratios and sometimes the TV will power down and then right back up again. The problem seems to only happen while watching a DVD and seems fine while watching Netflix. The bluray player is hooked up to an old pioneer rear projection. I don't know if I have a bad one or if all the bd6500s would act this way with my TV.
The blu ray player flickers because it boots up in 480p then flickers to whatever hd resolution you are using on your tv, it will then flicker again to go into 24 fps mode if using the 24fps option..."and you should use 24fps if your tv supports 24fps"
My biggest thing with the new firmware, is it takes a lot longer to load up the blu rays. most of the playback issues are fixed, but it takes a lot longer to start watching a movie. I know many say disable bd live, but it seems to have made it load up slower, or its the firmware. Mmm

Do you have a Samsung TV? Maybe the BD Wise setting interacts with a Samsung TV in some special way (mine is hooked up to a Panasonic).

No,, I have a Toshiba TV. And when I disconnect the HDMI and use a compositive video cable, I still can't turn off BD-Wise.

First off, 41 pages off issues with this player???!!!! Unbelievable. Mine won't connect with Wifi either. So now it's hooked up running ethernet. That part works okay now. But, here's my issue: Audio cuts out at random every few seconds. I have this going by HDMI to a Samsung A/V receiver. Have the 6500 set up to bitstream (audiophile). If I change this setting, the problem still occurs. I've had this player for about 4 weeks now. Worked fine for about 3 days. Even wirelessly. Now, nothing but problems. Anyone else have this audio issue. Happens no matter what is playing (blu-ray, CD, Netflix, etc). It even happens when NOTHING is playing. You can see the display on the A/V receiver go blank, then come back on. Any suggestions? (I change HDMI cable to a new 1.4 cable and then NOTHING worked. Picture was flashing from green to snow to menu screen, and at the same time the audio was also going out and back on).

Any help would be much appreciated.

Sounds like your unit is defective. Return it for another one. 41 pages is short for avsforum :-)

This sounds like an HDMI handshaking problem--and even if I'm right, I don't have a clue what can be done about it, or whether the problem lies in the Samsung player or in some other part of your system that doesn't coexist with it for some reason. I agree with the idea of returning it, but this might not solve the problem if the fault lies with a component other than the 6500 player.

I was thinking the same thing. I suspect component would not do it. I know I had similar issues with a cable box and TV combination that was never correct. Worked great on component. /Dan

I just bought the BD-C6500 and have had only one issue. I also have been having problems with the audio sync on Inception, where the audio is either behind or ahead of the video. I have the most current firmware and am using HDMI of course.

Has anyone found any settings yet that will fix this? Other than this issue I don't have any other qualms with this player and am generally happy.

I second that. Plus, this has been my first player and it does have its quirks, but in general it has worked great (about the only thing I could ask for is more robust error handling in MKV, embedded subtitle support, and Hulu for crying out loud!)

I, too, like my C-6500 but I often wonder why they have a clock to set when it doesn't serve any purpose.

My SWAG would be that the clock comes into play if you have Dynamic Range Control set to auto, DRC would then be allied in late night hours.
Possibly some apps use the clock, like the Rovi TV schedule app.

I have been having some problems when using my BD-6500. The picture keeps cutting out and sometimes the TV will power off then back up again. I don't know if the problem is the TV or the 6500. I have included a video to give a few examples. I tried changing aspect ratios hoping it was in some conflict with the TV but have the same problem even when switching down to 480I. I also turned off anynet and changed cables from component to composite. The TV does not have HDMI. Any comments will be appreciated.

No it doesn't. Apparently Samsung has introduced a Hulu Plus app for the latest TVs, but it's not available for their Blu-Ray players for unknown reasons.

Why not, that's so stupid, didn't they for a technical reason say they can't explain, say that it can only be on certain models? Dosnt hulu run off flash and aren't other streaming apps run with that? Couldn't that just be fixed with a firmware upgrade anyway? Why dosnt any body know the reasoning behind this?
Apparently not since they have done the same thing with Amazon on Demand--available on select TVs but not on Blu Ray--doesn't make any sense to me either.
The only Samsung blu-ray players supporting Hulu Plus are the C6900, C7900 and C8000. Maybe they'll add it to some others, we'll have to wait and see.

I had the same issue with sound using HDMI so I went back to a composite cable connection and it went away. As I was using a $6 React HDMI cable, I am hoping that a better HDMI cable might work.
