Samsung BD-C6500 Bluray Player------ - Page 54

Has this issue ever been fixed? My player freezes at the FBI warning screen too and I have to use "Disc Menu" or "Menu" or whatever combination to get it working. I was wondering if any firmware version took care of this issue.

Thank you!

What were you watching at the time? I have had occasional discs that didn't ever get to the start menu, but I have another BD player (Pioneer)--typically, if a disc won't play in one of these players, it will play in the other (unless it's actually damaged).

Samsungs responce to my question:

We appreciate you contacting Samsung Electronics and being a valued customer. We understand that you are interested to use web browser on your blu-ray player model BD-C5500.
We would like to say that the web browser feature included for 2011 and 2012 model Blu-ray players. As your Blu-ray player is 2010 model the feature is not introduced for TVs and Blu-ray players at that time. If you require additional assistance, you can email us by clicking on the URL below:

So they can't make a addon to give me this fuction and i made a mistake mine is the C6500. I watch hockey on the net and would be great if i could watch it on the player and not need my computer.

Even if you could get the current model's web browser, it wouldn't stream video. No player's browser can do that.

I think it is possible to get a web browser on to the Samsung C-series Blu-Ray players, but not without a lot of work. See http://www.samygo.tv/

But as mdavej said, why bother? Most video sites use proprietary plugins like Flash and SIlverlight to protect their content which would not be supported, and even if it were possible the performance would be poor. There are much better and easier alternatives.

Hello Everyone - I have a questions for all you experts.

I have samsung bd 6500 connected to my Denon receiver and the ouput thru a Panasonic PT-AX100 projector.

All my blu ray movies are playing fine. But when i try to connect to any of the apps, I am losing the HDMI signal on the projector and the screen keeps blinking on and off showing the apps.

Do you know what's causing this? Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Has anyone used Vudu with this player? If so, will it display in 1080p and with 5.1 sound (in movies that have these features)?

I believe it does if you have the bandwidth to handle it.

Decided to watch an MLB game tonight. The last time I used it I was pleasantly surprised. Tonight it made me download an update first. Now it selects tomorrow's games when you launch and won't let you watch any of them. If you use the calendar you can bring up today's games, but now I have a giant box taking up about 20% of my screen telling me its automatically adjusting viewing quality. Gee thanks guys this is so much better!

Sigh.

Why do I even bother...

constant interruptions (handshake?) issues with Samsung BD C6500

I just bought a new Denon 2112 AVR receiver.

I have hooked up my Samsung Blu Ray player via HDMI into the receiver.

I am having a number of issues since doing this.

1. During blu ray playback there are constant interruptions where the audio and video suddenly pause for about a second, before playback resumes.
2. Sometimes, after a number of these, the auio gets totally out of synch with the video track.
3. Sometimes at the beginning of playing a DVD, things just kind of freeze and the playback goes nowehere. I need to turn the blu ray player off (which it responds to from the remote) and then resume to get the DVD to play or pull up the DVD menu.

Any troubleshooting ideas?

Thanks.

Try a different HDMI cable

Gave it a try. So far so good. Thanks for the advice.

Strange as the other HDMI was straight out of the box.

apps

Hi
Can anyone tell me how to get access to more accps on my blu ray player c6500. When I look in tyhe apps store ther are only a few - I am particularly trying to get itvplayer

Thanks
There are very few apps available, as you see, and Samsung hasn't added very many since the player came out.
I guess it depends what you're comparing it to. By comparison to the Apple or Android app stores, no there aren't a lot of apps for Samsung TVs/Blu-Ray players. But there are several dozen, and they have released new ones every few months. Most of them are of little interest except for the video services, and unfortunately the availability of those apps is geographically limited by country. You only get the services available in your country. For example in Canada we get Netflix and CinemaNow (added last year), but not Vudu (U.S. only) or BBC iPlayer (UK only). The apps for those services are provided by the operators, not by Samsung, because they want to keep tight control of their proprietary access code. Most of them offer support for PC web browsers, but they don't necessarily have the resources to create and support an app for every proprietary video device out there, even popular ones like Samsung TVs.

New firmware update as of today. I really hope it helps with my WiFi issues (long story - last update caused my player to have to be completely reset up after each time being turned off and on regardless of encryption mode, auto or manual DNS config, WPS, etc settings). I just decided to work on this task today since it has been driving me nuts and coincidentally the update came out today.

Thanks for the heads up.

This firmware update has also been released for the BD-C5500 with the exact same description (including the inapplicable "Improve WiFi" part).

Unfortunately as usual it's a little difficult to figure out what, if anything, it actually updates - aside from the usual "Improve specific disc''s playback capability". The description appears to incorporate all the changes made in previous firmware releases up to 1025.1. It's not clear if any changes are new to this version.

Hi. Im trying to stream video from my PC (NFL Sunday Ticket on the Internet) to the samsung.

My Samsung is on my wireless network and sees my PC (I see it on the screen when i check "devices") but I cant figure out what to do from there.

Any help? Thank you!

Does anyone know if this is achievable:

I have my Blu Ray set up so that it can access a playlist from Windows Media Player on my PC and then stream it. It works very nicely.

But what if I want to control the playing FROM the PC - in other words, have the PC playing the actual playlist so I can control it on the PC or from my android remote software - and have the output streaming to my receiver via the Samsung Blu Ray.

Can this be done?

Thanks.

I think the firmware update clearly went afoul. I haven't seen any other reports like yours (and my firmware update went without a hitch, too). Even though your palyer is likely out of warranty, I think you have a legitimate gripe to take up with Samsung (assuming you followed the update instructions).

If you are shooting hd video, you will probably want to use the H.264 codec with whatever file format you choose. I usually convert my camera HD video to mp4 with H.264 video and AAC audio, and serve that to the Samsung player using either Serviio from Windows or the Twonky DLNA server on my NAS.

Earlier this week I put in a QNAP TS-869L NAS box and tried to use the DLNA Twonky media server. I too get the error on the player that the format is incompatible. QNAP had me update the Twonky server (it was way out-of-date) and that didn't help. They also said to try Plex. I installed it, but I am unable to configure it, because when I tries to store a config value, it complains that it can't do it. Obviously a file permission issue.

So, I installed mediatomb on the Fedora Linux box and got the same result on the player. Did notice that the Plex server is seen by the player, even though I never got done configuring it.

Because two DLNA servers both fail with the player, I came here.

All of my files are H.264 wrapped in the MKV container. It would be really dumb if the player can play those file when read from a USB stick, but not from a DLNA server. The last thing I want to do is convert all of the files to the MP4 container.

I'll have to test one of the MKV files and convert it and report back. Can't do it at the moment as the PeeCee that does that stuff for me is busy with other work.

EDIT: Forgot that I had some MP4 music videos, so I copied one over to the NAS box and the player played it just fine. I'm going to have to the Samsung web site and bitch about the player not playing MKV wrapped files via the DLNA server.

Suggesting that users use H.264 might not work either. I'm going to have to read Samsung the riot act for not being able to play files via DLNA that it can via a USB connection (thumb drive in this case).

I've discovered that MKV files that I've plled from the net and convertec to MP4 will stream, while MKV files that I encoded with x264 and cnverted to MP4, did not.

The only major difference I can find is that the net version are high@L4.0, while mine are high@L4.1. A different encoder appears to be used at well, but I have no idea what.

As far as I am concerned, Samsung's DLNA support on the player sucks.

EDIT: Samsung support e-mail sent.

Found it.

It seems that the DLNA spec (which I wasn't able to find) deals with H.264 video using a level of high@L4.0. Even though the Blu-ray player can play files via USB that are high@L4.1, via DLNA, it will not.

The video must be within a MP4 wrapper as well. MKV wrappers will not work.

Sigh!

I supposedly got a response from Samsung, but it wasn't in my mail box, so I had to do it again and ask that they resend the response.
