I have a Samsung BD-C6500 Blu-Ray Player (Firmware version 1010.4) connected to an LG 42LH90 (November 2009 build). I've got the Blu-Ray player connected via HDMI on Input 1.
I've had the pair for a few days now and I've started noticing that the Blu-Ray player occasionally displays black and white static over the image and plays brief bursts of static audio. Upon experimenting, I've found that this only occurs when I have the Blu-Ray player in 1080p mode; in 1080i mode it doesn't happen.
I also have an Xbox 360 connected to HDMI Input 2 running at 1080p with no visible video problems.
Things I've tried:
- Re-seating the HDMI cable in both the TV and the Blu-Ray player
- Swapping the HDMI cable input from HDMI1 into HDMI3
- Trying another cable of the same brand.
Since the Xbox 360 works at 1080p using the same cable, I suspect the problem is with the Samsung Blu-Ray player. I've ordered an Amazon brand HDMI cable as a backup and will try it on the off chance that it's the cable.
Attached are some photos - one without the problem, and two demonstrating the problem.
Has anyone had similar issues with this combination?
