Beautiful Sadness - The Cranes
(Please only listen if you are European; and try to ignore the pictures)

Leaves of Summer - The Cranes

I wish I could post Mannikin's "Hunting for Soap", et al, but Mannikin tracks are so rare.

Rhymes of an Hour - Mazzy Star
(One of the few things that makes me cry)

The Mekons' "Sheffield Park" and "One Horse Town" are amazing.

As are Wire's "A Series of Snakes" and "Feed Me".

Ah, we made so many advancements 30 years ago, before Republicans took over... {snigger}

Thanks, QS -- I'm suddenly in love with Cranes. I've always loved Mazzy, tho http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fF0lRYhhiwI . What a sweetheart. It's too bad she's a stone-cold liberal dyke.

P.S., if you like any of that stuff that i posted in OP, then you should download it now because the copyright police are all up in my ass like monster Godzilla hemorrhoids. I use the download helper extension for FF.

Awesome!

Walk The Dog - Laurie Anderson

I love this video and it has 6.8 million views:

Let's Groove - Earth Wind and Fire

Also, if you haven't listened to "Dub Side of the Moon" then you really need to. Here's a track:

Speak to Me Breathe - Easy Star All-Stars

And, of course, Mr. Jourgensen:

I Am Not Gay - Revolting Cocks

I'm having a hard time getting into the Pixies. Maybe I need to find some shrooms .

I do love me some dub, though. Here's a "Dub Side of the Moon" playlist: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttzwW...x=0&playnext=1

You just have to be basically weird to like the Pixies. Or Mannikin, or Celldweller, or Rorschach Test (etc). OK it's true, I walk alone...

Dub Side is some pretty good easy music.

As I get older, I love the more mellow stuff: Dub Side is a favorite, and I found Bluetech and Jet Jaguar through Groove Salad.

I still can't get away from the old-school industrial stuff, though. I love it so much. For example, this one:

And, of course, Skinny Puppy:

HAHA -- that crazy Leroy Johnston! :P

Oh dear, this is disturbing: Within 2 hours of my watching the video, I got another email from MoveOn with a link to the same video that had been altered to have my personal name throughout!

You know how I am about privacy...

This wouldn't happen to anyone else watching the video though, as your email and info is not registered with them.

A well-intentioned attempt, but deeply disturbing not just for the idea of Beck attacking me, but more that MoveOn would think it a good idea to let me know they are tracking me. Right-wing nuts I can handle, but those on the Left should know better.

I love having an off-topic thread here.

I just pulled the trigger on an electric smoker (you can find that model plenty of places besides Walmart), and I can't wait for it to get here -- I've wanted one forever.

I'm so excited about it that I don't even know what I want to cook in it first. I'll probably do a prime rib using Applewood chips, but I'm looking hard at rib recipes (dry rubs and sauces).

If you already have a smoker, or if you're interested in the possibilities then here's a couple of good resources: http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/ and http://www.smoker-cooking.com/

I'm also getting a dual-probe thermometer so I can monitor the cooking temperature as well as the temperature of the meat at the same time (some reviewers have said that the digital thermometer on this unit reads a little low).

I hope that my Texan friends won't hate me for using an electric smoker instead of taking the time to master a proper smoke pit.

Well Ah'm a native Texan (San Antonio, Dallas, 52 years), and I can tell you my brother loves BBQing & smoking cuts. I can also tell you that he's ballooned to twice his former weight. Loves that steak, baked potato, and butter.

I guess it's worth it to be miserable...

He thinks I'm thin because of genetics, LOL. No buford, it's discipline. Eat less, savor more.

haha -- I'm thin, too, weighing in at 145-150. I guess I have a fast metabolism to thank for that because I grew up in Georgia where everything is fried. If I can fry something in bacon grease or put real butter on it, then try and stop me. I'll probably die of a heart-attack due to the insane amount of cholesterol that I intake or emphysema because I smoke, but either way I'll die a happy man. I know that I only have one shot at being alive, and I'm going to enjoy it even if it kills me.

Use calculus on what I'm saying (take the 2nd derivative), and I am really asking, "So you never want to have sex (with a woman) again?"

If so, oh well, two less conservatives to deal with...
... more Leftists is great with me....

... although now that I've said this you'll maybe try to mate despite me... out of spite...
This is how it usually goes.

I wouldn't take it personally -- I've seen some sticky threads truncated, but not lately. Actually, I haven't seen any posts removed lately, so I'm not sure what you're talking about.

You must mean the short posts that you made, questioning why those threads were stickied.

Why is this pinned?

Those posts were very short and (maybe) poorly worded. I had to scratch my head, and think for a moment, before I got what you meant. Still, they didn't seem to warrant being deleted.

I guess that the mods here are following the Mark Shuttleworth philosophy that "This is not a democracy" (at the bottom of page).

To be fair, that is exactly how we do things over at LinuxForums.org. The mods have dictatorship over the forum, and I wouldn't want it any other way.

This is just way too geeky to not have on this thread.
