I am going to give it to my in-laws. They are building a new home and my father in law wanted to do surround in the living room. 3D is the big one, 2 sub outs, and the looks so far.

No, they have black pieces you can order and change out with the silver. They have a sale going on right now as well.

Thank you. I actully got a refurb and saved a few hundred. Just call Standout Designs and they might have one.

Well man, is it hot enough for ya? lol with my tv and system on the AC sometimes kicks into overdrive to cool the place down. Not to mention I live on the 3rd floor too but eh, it's Texas, we're used to it by now right? lol

Anyway man I love the new Sammy in your living room. I was thinking I might get the 59" version (D6500) pretty soon.

Dude it is sooo hot!!!! It just seems to feel hotter and hotter every day. You will love the D6500. The picture on this years Sammy's are breath taking to me.

I looked at the new (to me) photos on the first page. That's looking really nice. Of course with most Def Techs, you don't really need a sub in my opinion since they go very deep in the bass. Does you sub help much, or have you set up the crossover at a higher point to take advantage of the sub?

Hey Prepress! Hope you have been well. Yes, I tried the Def Tech's without the subs for about a week and they sounded good. I don't think anyone would have any issue with the performance that is not on this forum smile.gif. BUT smile.gif the SVS well out preforms the Def Techs alone. I tried the SVS in all positions (it would fit in) and the rear corner was by far the best location. The only issue with the SVS was that I could tell the bass was coming from behind me, no matter the phase or crossover. So I added the Def Tech 2000 to help and it is doing it's job better than I thought it would (tried all locations with this sub as well). Once I added the SMS-1, took me about a week to get right, I have a pretty flat line and there is no localization for the bass at all in the room now.

Side note: I have the Def Tech mains bass knob(?) set to a little over a quarter of the way up(not hooked up through the LFE). The SMS-1 helped with this adjustment so I could set the crossover to 80 for the SVS and 2000. It's just like "very expensive" magic smile.gif

I have read elsewhere that two subs is an ideal arrangement. Wish I could remember where I saw it, but I remember thinking that made sense. Directional bass is not a good thing.

VTI makes the rack. It looks cool but is a pain in the ass to move or get behind. It's one of those "set it and hope you never ever have to move it" racks smile.gif.

Bought some new toys. Picked up the new Sony 3D Sync transmitter for my projector. With this new transmitter I can set it up on top of the projector and not infront of the room. Makes for a much cleaner look and a much better sync.

I did a little cleaning up on the wires around the room. Nothing major but just cleaner.

I also started out with an SVS NSD-12 for about a week. Great sub but was thinking it would be better to have two of the same subs. So the NSD went back and picked up another PB 12 Plus. Two of these are ridiculous. I can't imagine hearing rooms that have more than two or even duel PB 13 Ultra's.

I hope to have new pictures soon, though it really doesn't look any different.

Oh, if you don't already know about this link for the Blu Ray Demo Disc, I would highly recommend it.

I downloaded some manuals and even e-mailed Def Tech. You can drive them with just speaker wire and your own amps, which is a good thing. If I ever went this way it'd be the Mythos ST or the BP8080. The 7000sc series is too heavy (162 lbs. shipping weight) and I don't need 11Hz in here. Room's not big enough.
