And you voided your warranty. Well that is if it was even still under warranty lol. I did that to my old Xbox a number of years back. It worked out pretty cool although I ended up going back to the original case because I got tired of it. I didn't like the sticker approach either but it was fun.

Interesting. The Wii is the most unsightly part of my setup. It stands out like a sore thumb. I might have to think about a case swap myself...

Yeah, I figured it would voided it but it sure does look better than the white for my setup. Now, only if I could get a black Fios cable box.

S-dogg, thank you very much. As a side note if you decided to make the case swap, you will have to get a special screw driver. I think it is a "Y" screw driver. Not sure if you have a Microcenter near you but that is where I picked mine up...and you can get the online. Let me know if you do and would like to see it.

Regrets? Not at all. I really like the SuperCube II...a lot. I had a Polk Audio PSW...forget the number but it was a 12". It did nothing but boom and was really buddy. This was also before I really new about subs. Just thought having a 12" sub would do the trick.

Hearing the SC II was like a whole new world. The tight, fast, clean, and clear base that comes out of that small box is remarkable...it also goes boom but in a more friendly way.

What I would really like to hear is an SVS sub. Hear nothing but good things about them but don't have an opportunity to hear one.

i would be interested in how being so close to the back wall (unless that's an illusion caused by the camera angle) affects the BP7002's sound. As I recall they're bipolar, and would need a bit of space, no? But, Def Techs are good-sounding generally, and bipolars are less room-dependent than other speaker types, so maybe they sound good anyway.

I like the bipolar concept. I own Mirage M3-sis, and if I had to replace them it would probably be Def Techs, namely the BPs. Are you using the built-in powered sub at all, or driving them passively since you have the Super Cube?

I've always believed that bi-polar towers like that belong about 15-18 inches from the wall at a minimum unless it's just not possible. It all really depends on room acoustics though so closer to the wall might not be a bad thing in his setup.

As for the sub the best option would be to cross the towers over internally to about 80hz and let the Supercube do the rest (assuming you stick to THX. Otherwise 120hz might be acceptable). That's what I would do anyway. I've heard the bigger brothers to the 7002s and it's pretty unbelievable what those towers are capable of, bass wise. Fed a proper signal with good room accoustics those subs can literally deafen you at high spls. DefTech definitely has a grip on powered subs in towers. I wish they'd just make the whole speaker powered.

Yeah, I don't have room to move them out any further. They are 6" from the back wall. Def Tech manual states at least 5" from the back wall. I think they sound really good but I have not heard them further from the wall in my house.

I have the 7002s running large and letting the SC handle all the lower end base. I listen to music in 2 channel they produce the right amount of base for me without the sub.

Yes, from what I understand they need to be further from the wall. Bought these for when (not if) I move to a bigger house and have a dedicated room.

I let the 7002s run large and let the SC do the heavy lifting. I get great balance this way. I did hook the 7002s up with the LFE along with the sub and it is just too much base for the space I am working with.

Since the BPs have a built-in powered sub, that means they need to plug in somewhere. About how much power do they pull when running? I'm not in the market for speakers right now, but the info could be helpful at some point.

And as for placement, I've always read and heard that it's best if the speakers are in front of the TV (for imaging purposes, probably). But again, bipolar designs are more independent of room acoustics than conventional speakers, so perhaps it wouldn't matter in this case. You could always experiment when you have more room to work with.

Wow, this post pretty much seals the deal for me. I was thinking about getting that Ikea Tobo TV stand and was wondering if my pioneer Elite and Verizon FIOS Box would fit neatly in the cabinets and now, I see that it does! Great, I'm ordering it as soon as I get rid of the existing dresser. Awesome setup, by the way.

Thanks for checking out my setup. I have been looking the last couple of weeks to find a replacement cabinet and to be honest I could not find one that met my needs. I looked at BDi, StudioTech, and StandoutDesigns and only one I could see in person was the BDi. The Ikea cabinet is awesome! I would suggest before you put the back cover on, cut out the two sides where your components will go and leave the back covering the two draws. This is much easier than cutting holes after the cover is on

Yes, I do have the towers plugged into an outlet. I don't know how much power they pull when running at a "loud volume".

I hear both sides that it is hard and easy to place bipolar speakers. For me it is not an issue. I would like to have them further from the wall but don't have the luxury at this point.

I meant that the TV (or screen) is behind the plane of the speakers, rather than directly in between them. That is how they appear to be in your photos, so no worries there. It's also easy to achieve when the TV's on the wall!

UPDATE: I had my system calibrated by De Vance AV Design (hope I am allowed to place their link on here). Ask for Justin if interested - very professional. I thought it sounded good before and now it rocks the cazbah. Some of the best money I have spent on my setup so far!!!

I just ordered Horizon N702 Plus from Standout Designs in Espresso Maple. Should be here next week. Once I have the new TV stand in I will take pictures along with the new ProMonitor 1000s for the rear surrounds and the Apple TV. I also moved my sub and will add pictures by mid next week...I hope.

Oh, I picked up a pair of Audioquest loudspeaker wires to see if they were worth the price. I could not hear a difference but they sure did look nice even though they were never going to be seen so I took them back.

With speaker cable, I use Kimber 8TC. It's a good price and made a difference in my system. As it was heaver gauge than what it replaced, there was an improvement in information retrieval.

Thanks for the Kimber recommendation. I think those are the wires I will get in the future.

I received their free catalog last week. I was looking at the 8TC cables also. Their wires/cables are beautiful looking. If I ever get an amp I would definitely order their braided interconnects, the Tonik ones. Did you see the price for a foot of the 8AG loudspeaker wires/cables? Holy cow!!!

Ok, Ok, Ok!! I know I said I was going post pictures this week but I am gong to have to wait. Why? Because I just ordered an SVS PB12-Plus. Not sure how long it takes to ship. Also to that order add a Auralex Great Gramma and , ChaAuralex MOPAD Monitor Isolation for the center channel. I might get a set of Auralex SubDude for the L/R towers. Once all is in I will take pictures. I know you won't believe me until I have proof but it is all coming soon!!!

I have updated my first post with new pictures with all my new gear. Here are the pictures of my new sub. SVS PB12-Plus. I am running it as stock, all ports open and all nobs off except the gain/volume at 1/4 and calibrated...thing is amazing!!!!

Why the little table on the right, between the new TV stand (a nice-looking one, by the way) and the right speaker? Would it work if you switched their positions, or is there some logistical reason for the arrangement? The speakers have an asymmetrical setup, and the TV isn't centered between them.

Of course, if the sound's not being affected, no real problem. But it looks a bit strange to me.

That is a great question. I use to have my SuperCube II under the little table. But now that you bring it up not sure why I couldn't take it out. It holds my wife's mag's right now with the little basket on top. The other only reason I would think of is because it hides the wall socket. I will move it tonight and see what I get. Thanks for the suggestion...a good one at that.

Sure, you're welcome. I assume that's your wife to the left in the first photo. The other thing is whether there's somewhere else viable to place the table and whether it's convenient for her when she wants a magazine, if that matters.

Maybe the speaker will block the socket somewhat. If not, you'll need to decide how much seeing the socket bothers you (or her). It may not be a distraction at all; no harm in trying things out.
