Maybe the speaker will block the socket somewhat. If not, you'll need to decide how much seeing the socket bothers you (or her). It may not be a distraction at all; no harm in trying things out.

There is a toy chest on the other side of the red chair in which my little boy is out growing most of the toys in it. Ideally I want to move the chest and then the little table in its place. We are in the market for a new home as we are out growing our townhome so fingers crossed we can either sale or lease soon.

Thanks again.

I was curious what you thought of the SCII now compared to the SVS. I understand the SVS is going to be a huge difference but how huge? I don't have the room for one that big but I was thinking of the SCII but more so the Rythmik D15SE. Just curious what your thoughts were. I have the 7004's and CLR1000b up front.

Badgerpilot, the SCII is really an amazing sub. I have no complaints for the SCII sound/performance wise. The only thing (which is not a deal killer) is the SCII only has an auto on/off.

Sound and performance for that little sub is really incredible. Tight, fast, clean bass is all that comes out. It will go boom if you want it to.

The SVS is crazy and is hard to describe bc it can be heard at really low volumes but keeps its sounds. Not sure if that makes sense. It will also rock nothing I have ever heard...really! I still have my SCII, if you are interested, just PM me.

I've been going back and forth about the SCII. It is the right size, but everyone seems to agree that you can get more bang for the buck with some of the Internet Direct companies. I am interested in the small SVS subs such as the SB12+ but that has been discontinued and the new one isn't available yet. I have been seriously considering the Rythmik D15SE in piano black. It also works well size wise for me and it has the bigger 15" Driver. The tough part is not being able to hear it first. What made you decide that you wanted more? That is kind of what I am afraid of with SCII - that I'll want more. I may just wait until I see some reviews for the new small, SVS subs and see how they compare to the Rythmik.

I love my SCII. Of course I dont have much else to compare it to as I am new the the game. My sub hits hard and is very crisp and tight. I wouldnt want any more thump out of it. Here is my def tech set up for reference.

edit- Bigham, I forgot to add, I bet your system sounds awesome. I think my little Def Tech inwalls sound superb, cant imagine what your floor standing models sound like.

Ah you got the SVS! Sorry I didn't get a chance to respond earlier but awesome man, I bet it sounds amazing compared to even the old Supercube which itself was a pretty awesome sub. Nice man!

It's fun to get new stuff huh? lol

Badgerpilot, so far I have nothing but good things to say for Internet Direct companies. I also took the leap and ordered from Standout Designs and what I figured out is if you ask about refurbished ones, you can get even better deals and might even be able to get free shipping. That is what I did with the TV stand and received a HUGE price brake on the TV stand and it looks like a brand new one . I got bit by the upgrade bug really bad. The more I was on this site the more I kept hearing how great SVS subs are and how many people have them. The PB12 Plus is on sale and figured why not...glade I did. If SVS's smaller subs sound performer like the big ones then you would be in for a real treat.

Hey pcweber111! It is almost like going from a pony to a horse. I will miss the good times we had but look forward to the new adventures with the grown up version...if that even makes sense...I tried. No doubt about getting new stuff, its fun seeing the FedEx, UPS, or a big freight truck pull up to the house and setting everything up...then the bill

It would go very nicely with the Def Techs! I like the down firing aspect as well and the size is reasonable. Need to save a little for it though. I've spent way too much in the last few months on audio/video. I still want to see what SVS comes up with as well, but the Rythmik is definitely my first choice.

Bigred7078 has the Rythmik 12" if you wanted some feedback on it from him. He seems really happy with it. It is sharp looking. I think it would make the rest of my house look bad.

Hey guys I have a questions and need your help. There is a chance that I might be moving into a new home with a dedicated media room. Here is the question.

Is it better to have equipment up front (under the TV/Screen) for shorter runs to the main speakers or is it better to leave everything in the closet in the back of the room?

Thanks again!
Well if you want my opinion *coughseemythreadcough* you can move it all to the adjacent closet. lol

To be honest what I end up prefering is to move the preamp and the source devices to the closet and leave the amps where the speakers are. Shorter speaker runs and all. I couldn't do that but if I could I would. In reality though I doubt you'd notice much of a difference and the added "coolness" of having media closet is definitely enticing. I do like seeing the stuff I own but it's also a bit of a bachelor-esque approach. Women really love the sleek style of having everything hidden. Less clutter and all. Plus having a little kiddo definitely makes it more of an annoyance with him or her constantly trying to touch everything.

Thanks pcweber. That is what I thought, moving it to the closet.

You're welcome! Hey, what kind of fish is that above the kitchen? Also, how are you liking the Emotive's? I've been kicking around the idea of getting the XPA-3 for the front stage and letting my Onkyo 1007 run the rears only.

The new setup looks much cleaner. Good job.

Thanks PC. I ended up running out for wine and it is nasty out there. One big sheet of ice over the whole town. Stay warm

Well seeing as how my sons daycare is closed at least until Friday this will be a mini vacation for me. Not exactly what I planned on using some vacation days for but eh it's either use them or lose them by March so I guess it's gonna be a long Superbowl Weekend. I'm just annoyed during the week leading up this happens. It's definitely put a damper on what was supposed to be some pretty cool festivities. I wanted to drive over to Ft. Worth to go see ESPN but forget that lol. Gotta love mother nature!

Yeah, I was going to do that as well but just trying to go to the grocery store is an adventure around here. I really thought about going down to see ESPN tonight but after watching the news I thought better of it. I'm supposed to go to work tomorrow so maybe I'll get down there on Saturday.

I am right there with you guys. Went to the office for a few hours and was hell getting there but a little better coming home. Taking my two sons to NFL Experience on Friday...I hope.

Very cool setup. Curious about the SVS. You said you had it on 1/4th gain, if you go higher does it start to sound bad or is it just too much power? Also very cool reading through your thread to find other people in the DFW area and read their builds. I'm new to Texas and didn't realize it got ice and snow down here.

Thank you very much. I live in a town home and without a doubt, I am pretty sure the other three houses can hear and feel this thing. It hits hard at that gain and calibrated. That's why I am in awh when people have a few of theses things.

As for the ice, I have not seen it this bad in 20 something years. It's crazy and more is on the way, so they say!!

Oh, welcome to Texas!!!!

One thing I notice is that there's quite a bit of light coming into the room. Is that a problem when watching TV? Any screen reflections, for example?
