SVS Sealed Subs... - Page 23

the ULS looks like a solid choice, but the only thing is that it hasn't been reviewed and measured yet (i haven't seen any outdoor or semi-anechoic measurements from any source).

At least with the SB13 Audioholics will get their hands on it soon as part of their contest and we will know exactly how it stands compared to the big boys.

I may have missed it, but is Josh Ricci (also) testing the SB-13 Ultra?

TIA

TIA

When the SB13 is being reviewed by the selected contest entrants, Audioholics will also get one for review
Quote:
The members auditioning it and chronicling their experiences will be receiving it at the same time as our professional reviewers and before it’s even unveiled to the public
They didn't say explicitly but I will assume it will be measured as well

Since the selected reviewers will be measuring it as part of their review, it will be interesting to compare their in room measurements to the Audioholics measurements

I wonder after this review happens, those owners of SB13's (which includes myself), that love their sub will hate it afterwards if doesn't what some around here would consider a favorable review.

Who cares what someone else things. If you like your sub and you feel it was a good purchase, then what does it matter if someone else doesn't care for it? Why would you hate your sub if someone you never met doesn't give it a favorable review?
I doubt the SB13 will get an unfavorable review considering how well the SB12nsd performed. Anyone purchasing an SVS sub knows what to expect from it as accurate measurements can be had strait from the company. I'm quite sure it will perform just as expected.

exactly. The CEA max output numbers of the SB13 have been known for some time and they almost exactly correlate to the numbers Ricci generates. And we have seen the frequyency response plots correlate well too.

So I doubt anybody who actually did their research on the SB13 will be surprised at all by what Audioholics finds out.

Are you kidding me, people in the subwoofer forum care greatly what others think.

LOL not exactly what I was saying. I just can't see how someone can own a product and can be very happy with it but then read a negative opinion on a forum and then suddenly dislike there sub they loved so much confused.gif

That's how it goes sometimes. Just wait and see.

You should post in the PB13 Ultra thread since this is a SVS sealed sub thread.

The SB12 got a favorable review taking in consideration its price.

In what way does the HSU ULS-15 represent a better value?
What is the price of the SB13? I have no doubt that it will be a great sub with SVS top notch warranty, customer service and support. That said, there is a lot of competition in the $2K range for sealed subs.

Well you can see I posed that as a question, not a statement but if I had to share what I see on paper:

1. Bigger woofer
2. Wireless capability
3. Lower extension (EQ'd to get it however)
4. "better" finishes (subjective)

That doesn't mean I don't think the SB13 might be worth it, just looking for justification for what will likely be a significantly higher price than the ULS-15.

Why do you think that SB13 Ultra will be significantly higher than the ULS-15? Considering the fact that its a SB13-plus with a new finish.
The SB13+ was $1650, right?. I suspect this Ultra model will cost more. $1750-1850?

The SB13 Plus was $1200.
The SB13 started at $1600 (or so) and the price was dropped to $1200 around June last year. Ed stated the new model will be slightly more expensive than the outgoing model due to the more expensive cabinet.
I also received word that the preorders will be $100 off....so maybe the same price?
::anxiously waits for preorder button on SVS website::

There are reviews out there already of the SB13 already which all say it's a amazing sub. So i don't get why are you waiting for a new verdict. The new SB13 ultra is the same model.

The SB13 has 2 PEQ's.

Extension to 15 and 10hz? Thats souds great! As i mentioned my current sub goes to only 28hz but my room is small so it still sounds pretty good. Im eagerly awaiting the performance boos im going to get with the SB13.
How much extension do you get with your SB13 in your room?

You would be off getting two SB12-NSD's than one SB13.

Depends, the SB13 has better in room FR than the SB12 (or a pair of them). The SB12 pair would have smoother FR. Take your pick.

There aren't any reviews out there on the level of Audioholics reviews.

What pick, smoother frequency response means better bass.
