I have it set to "Auto" and it sends all audio out as PCM instead of sending it to my receiver and letting it handle the audio. Kind of like how the original PS3 handles it. You probably know this already, but the majority of receivers change the dsd to pcm before decoding, for example all of the onkyos do this, even if the player is sending dsd, so I don't know if there is any real difference.
