Official LG BD550/BD560/BD570/BD590 Owners Thread - Page 53

AilingRichMan, Yes....Initialize, then select 'Factory Set'. I just grabbed another update and have not had any further problems. My issues stopped once I updated and then did that. I then had to reconfigure all my audio/video/netflix settings...but all has been great since then. Are you running the 590 or the 570?

Well.. before I take my BD590 back to BB today.. I checked one last time for updates and one was available (sorry I didn't write down the number). After the update, I went ahead and did another factory reset and then tried my standard def movie file I had on the internal hard drive.. now there is a ton of audio static when playing the file after the update and the movie is still very choppy (the water scenes in the beginning of Shutter Island show the issues immediately still...).. so off to BB this morning I go.

I plan to try a replacement unit before I give up and start looking at the WD HD Plus unit or the POPBOX.

New version is BD.8.31.283.C. Just installed it - too early to tell what it does/fixed but Pandora seems to be better (no audio drops so far on my BD590). Didn't see any new Netcast apps.

I just don't get why lg does not post what a firmware is fixing.

I got the BD550 and I'm happy with it so far. I always seem to miss episodes of Persons Unknown and the 550's ability to read mkv files on flash drives is a godsend.

I could not get the mkv file to play off my flash drive. The player sees photos but when I try to play a movie it just gives me the red "can't do that" symbol in the corner of the screen.

Am I not holding my mouth right or is there a secret handshake?

I think I read somewhere that the 550 does not play video files from usb.

Hi,
I am trying to play Blu-ray rips (.m2ts files) from my external HDD connected via USB to my BD-570. I select any m2ts file it says "audio format not supported". I could not able to play any of the files.
It successfully played other m2ts files from a different BR rip. Appreciate any ideas why I am getting this error on first BR rip. thanks.

I have had the BD590 for a while and have had no problems. I am starting to get into ripping my blurays onto my hard drive and streaming them. I have ripped them to MKV but it appears that you cannot stream these to player. Get unsupported video format. What is the best way to stream these files to the BD 590. What are some good programs to convert them. I have tried converting them to divix but even that has given me a problem. Any help or guidance is appreciated

Anyone watch Cop Out on the 590? At the 4 minute marked it skipped ahead 2 minutes. I replicated the issue three times. Curious if it's just a bad disc or a problem with the player.

Not that one but had problems with Brooklyn's Finest in blu ray.

I had issues with Brooklyn's Finest also. Could not get the first one to even load. Sent it back to Netflix and got another one. I didn't think the second one was going to load but after it did it played through to the end.

Has anyone tried Napster on this player yet?

I've tried it on the 590 and Napster works great! Better than Pandora in that you can select the songs you want to hear.

You should be able to stream MKVs with no problem.
What software are you using to rip the Blurays?

Thanks for the feedback, I'll trial it soon. Pandora's ok, audio dropouts are quite common (don't think due to my internet connection since it's wired 10 Mb/s download speed).

My 590 just skipped ahead 3 or so minutes at about the hour mark of The Wolfman. Back to Best Buy it goes; it's too damned expensive to put up with this crap.

Are you sure it's not a problem with the disk itself? Did you contact LG about it?

My Sony S570 handled it fine, as did my LG BD390. Honestly, this was a purchase I had been second guessing since I made it, so this makes it a little easier. I'll probably follow up with LG after returning it. But, again, it cost me $350 dollars - I shouldn't have to worry whether this type of thing is going to continue happening, especially after reading the similar incidents in this thread; I shouldn't have to get LG involved.

New poster here. I just got my 570 today and set it up. Playing netflix and standard DVD just fine.

Tomorrow I'll get Avatar on Blu Ray (netflix) and report in on how it goes. A whole lot of complaints here which scares me. I did not update the firmware. Sin City DVD looked (and SOUNDED!!!) fantastic.

I set the player to output 192 kHz but does that only work on Blu Ray? My Denon 591 accepts it as an input. Sin City sounded great, whatever was going on.

Looking to get a 570 as a bedroom player. Amazon has it for $178 (no tax, free ship) currently, is that a good deal? Is it worth it to hold out for a better price?

Also, is it a better deal to get a 550 for $135 + a wireless AP for $30? I see the 550 doesnt have homelink or DivX though. How solid is the integrated wifi in the 570?

I was ready to purchase the 570 until I read some of the recently posted negative reviews for it on Amazon. Stuff about disc skipping, random shutdown, audio cutouts and speedups, etc. So I came here to read up on it and though there seemed to be less complaints ratio-wise, there are still similar complaints period. So now I'm a bit hesitant. At the same time, I dont really know of another BD player with Netlfix, Pandora, Home network streaming, and DivX for under $199.

A little guidance, help, suggestion, comfort, etc would be most appreciated.

I've had it for a week and have used it every day. Used netflix, dvd-r and bluray with no skipping. I bought it for 185, so yeh, go for it now before it goes back up. Remember, if you have any issues with it, you can always return it.

I bought a 570 recently and it hasn't given me any real problems. However, I'm a fairly light user (playing disks once a week, Netflix instant watching once a week) and I have it connected to ethernet by wire. Homelink plays nicely with my Windows Home Server. Worst problem I had was a Netflix disk that skipped, but after looking at the surface of it, I could readily see why. I would say that the price you quoted was a good one.

Did I choose the best A/V settings for the 570?

192 kHz, 16:9 original, the HDMI pass through options, No sound compression

I want my Denon 591 to do all the work.

That is the way I have mine configured. Don't know if it is perfect or not.

Also have a 591

Do you have yours on 1080p 24hz or 60 hz? I have a 1080p TV but don't know which setting I should use, and which source they're supposed to be used on.

This is from another post in this thread.

Sweet, thanks!

picked up a BD570 and did the software update. When I pause a blu ray movie for more than a minute or so it will not resume play when I push play. The only way to get the movie to play again is to go pack to the previous scene. Have not tried a standard DVD yet, only blu ray.

anyone with similar issues?
