I love the hell outta my 570 on the .323FW and don't see a need to update.

Have you tried youtube? Many complained of the loss in quality.

VUDU? any lipsync or audio issues?

MLB.TV? Does it work?

Netflix? Any added features like direct search?

SDVD playback? Still a degraded picture compared to .323FW playback?

Dropouts using wi-fi? How long has .355FW been used? Previous FW lost connection not long after installation.

Any added apps like maybe Amazon VOD (wishful thinking here)?

If you don't see a need to update why worry about it? Anyway this is my experience so far on .355 FW:

1. DVD playback (both standard DVD and bluray DVD) - video quality is excellent, no audio dropouts, no lip synch, no freezes, etc..it's perfect!

2. Netflix - also works great, no lip synch issues.

3. MLB - works great.

4. CinemaNow (had a credit, watched Source Code on it last night night) - works great.

5. VUDU - don't use it except for watching trailers and 2 minute previews (everything works great). Haven't watched any paid content.

6. Wireless - can't say since I don't use. I have a wired Ethernet connection to a Linksys powerline adapter which works great.

The player will see the disc and (upper left screen corner) report it as Blueray, refuse to play it and eject it with a disc error. The manual claims that it will support and play AVCHD discs (page 11). I have also returned the player twice to LG with a sample disc. Technicians claim that they also cannot play the disc. They claim that it is either my NLE or my burning engine. They also claim that they cannot read the discs using windows explorer. I find this amazing since my windows7 setup reads the folders just fine and my other blueray players will play the authored discs without incident. Is anyone out there able to author and burn AVCHD discs and have the play back without incident of there LG players. If so, I am asking for your work flow. What is your NLE, your movie creation controls when burning your menu driven movie to folders and what are you using for your burning engine. Also, which media brands are you using. I have tried two different burning engines and four different brands of media discs. All will play on my other non LG players but none will play on the bd 570. LG said that they have a AVCHD disc that they are going to ship with my return players next week. I'm wondering if it is just and edited m2ts file or data disc? The issue is not whether the LG player will play raw or edited AVCHD files or m2ts, it will. I have not had problem playing my edited m2ts files from my thumb drive. I just can't get the player to play a fully authored (menu driven) AVCHD disc. The technicians also said that they would follow-up with a conversation with the LG engineers who are in Korea. They were concerned that it would take time as the language barrier is sometimes difficult to negotiate. It doesn't look good for my issue. Any help or direction would most appreciated from this users forum.

I have sereral AVCHD discs burned on a DVD+R which are ejected from my BD590. They play fine on a PS3 and an older LG player.

The BD590 will recognise AVCHD discs burned on a DVD+R D/L, DVD+RW, BD-RE, and BD-R.

If anyone is able to play an authored AVCHD disc on a DVD+R, I would like to know.

When I updated to .355c firware a week ago, I didn't update the servo firmware to H80602.

After the H80602 update it recognises DVD+R.

Life is good again!

Works great NOW, but never know when I will need to update just to play a BD. But this is good info, as you answered most of my questions. Thanks!

Bah! I was hoping it would resolve the issue (freezes after the previews) with The Evil Dead as it seemed identical to that of the King's Speech. No such luck. Anyone else have problems with The Evil Dead? I've tried two different copies with the same result.

Is easy to check, in one movie or in one .mp3 music press the "MUSIC ID" button in remote control, in the last two upgrades the BD570 "freeze" and power off! You can check pressing "INFO/DISPLAY" button > movie information.

Oh, I see. I didn't check that. I'm primarily concerned with simply getting Evil Dead to play.

Updated my 550 to .355 a week ago and DVD/Bluray work well.

Tried watching Weeds on Netflix Instant play and experienced the lip sync issue previously reported on earlier updates. I switched to Netflix through my LE5400 tv and Weeds played clean. I guess that I should not have updated. I haven't tried any other Instant play on the 550.

Thankyou! These are the updates we need to make informed decisions! I ALMOST updated last night but thought it best to hear from a few others first.

May I ask you tho, why would you use the 550 instead of the TV in the first place?
Well, the Gracenote issue was fixed. I apparently cannot find any issue with this new BD.8.31.356C .

I can't decide yet if I'm going to update. So I keep pressing Cancel when the notification comes up. Question, if I press Hide, will the only way to update then be to download from website? Or can you Un-Hide?
Once you press 'Hide', you cannot update till another update is released other than using a USB to update. I am not updating. Staying with .323FW.

You can go into the setup menu to check for the update after you've hidden it.

Gracenote appears to be fixed in the US 355.C FW version also.

Does the Gracenote feature even support media files played back from USB, hard drive or streaming sources? My impression was that it only supported discs.

A digital library would typically store images and meta data corresponding to media in its database or embedded in the media files rather than using a service like Gracenote (though I don't think the LG players will show the data via either method, except possibly when using certain DLNA servers). On a computer with iTunes, for example, if you insert a cd, iTunes connects to Gracenote and gets track, artist, titles, cover art, etc. If you then rip files from the cd, all of that data gets saved locally, either in the mp3 files id3 tags or in the iTunes database; so Gracenote is not needed again until you put in another disc that iTunes hasn't seen before.

Calling this function obviously should not crash your BD player, but unless I'm mistaken, I think that LG's fix would probably just be to make the button do nothing in this scenario instead of causing a crash. Has this worked with media files in any past software updates?

I've tested it with mp3's I did several years ago, probably around 2002 or so, and it finds the artist, the album it came from and shows you all the other tracks from that album. I thought that was pretty impressive. This was streaming from an old xp machine that has about 200 gigs of mp3's on it, and has the folder shared.

Does lg-570 play .iso or .img files yet?

The question is how did you encode the movie. The player is quite picky on the mkv's ... it has been discussed a few pages back so you might check that.
