Upgrade succeeded after several unsuccessful attempts. First, the download failed, then the driver update succeeded, but the software update failed. Finally, after another, much shorter download (must have been software only), everything was updated successfully. Standard operation seems unaffected. I haven't tried any problematic material so far.

I see mention in this forum about the update to 360C. My DVD player (590C) is showing me an update to 356C. Unfortunately though the download keeps failing each and every time. I've unplugged it and plugged it back in, checked the network connection - all is good. Just don't understand why the darn thing won't download. Anyone else having issues?
Thanks.

Try it late at night. I've had issues downloading from LG with every model I've owned (370, 570, 670) during the day at various points. I suspect they have a very limited upload capacity. Typically if I do a firmware update late (past midnight) it'll download with no problems.

Agreed, the downloads always seem to take a lot longer than they should based on the file size and it is common to experience failures shortly after new updates get released when lots of users are downloading. These problems tend to ease up after the updates have been available for awhile.

Not presently and not likely in the future. LG has added Amazon VOD and Hulu Plus among others to the 2011 players via software updates, but they seem to only be fixing bugs and disc compatibility issues in the updates for older players at this point.

I tried at 4 in the morning today (Sunday) with the same amount of success, that being none. In my initial post though I said I was trying to get update 356C, I was wrong. Like everyone else I'm trying to get 360C.
Thanks.

Or, LG could put the new firmware on its website for for the rest of us to download and install manually when it's first released.

I have been having the exact same problem! I cannot get Home Link (CIFS log in) to work since I installed Lion. Thinking I may go back to Snow Leopard where it was working.

Owner of BD 550, after numerous failed download attempts and completed downloads of firmware 360C that also failed to install, my player finally updated. I can report no new Internet Apps in Netcast, Netflix UI unchanged (Instant Queue, Suggestions and Genres but no Search feature), and Home Menu is unchanged. I can only surmise that it fixes/breaks BluRay player. File comes in at approximately 100MB according to my router's counter. However my +21mbp Road Runner service still took 30 mins to download this file, LG's server must be overwhelmed or is throttling downloads. It also took almost 45 mins for the install to complete.

Hi all. I am a BD550 owner. I have my unit connected to a Panasonic TV via HDMI. The unit used to power on when I selected the HDMI source on the TV. After the upgrade to BD5.227.00 firmware, this feature stopped working. Is there an archive of previous firmwares that I could roll back to?

Turns out, after a consult with LG, that something is wrong with the BR. Only works in 480i mode, so when the HDMI switches from 480i to 1080p after boot up it loses the signal.

Annoying. Fairly new, maybe only five months of semi-regular use and it's fried.

Do you have the Simpl-Link turned on? I think the button for that feature is on the lower left buttons on the DVD remote. I have an LG TV, however, so that may not help your setup.

Thanks for the Reply! The Panasonic uses 'Viera Link' and it is switched on! Worked fine before the last update. Oh well, never mind. Thanks once again!

Actually after speaking with an LG Rep a few minutes ago I found out that they do post the updates on their site. You download it, unzip it, then burn it to a disk or put it on a thumb drive, press and hold the home button, and then the update should take.
Something else I learned in talking to said Rep was that according to him the 360C update doesn't exist. If it's not on the website you won't get it. I tried telling him what my DVD player was showing me but he just wouldn't believe me. The website is currently showing the 356C update which I already have.
P.S. Tried to download the update again today and it still won't work.

Well, either you're making things up or he is. I'll let you be the judge of which of you it is.

One this is for sure - this guy doesn't know the product as well as he claims to.

BTW, it can take several weeks before they post the newest update to the website. It'll probably be there for download by mid-August.

Thanks for that. I thought that might be the case. Even mentioned it to the rep - asked if it was possible the DVD player found an update ahead of one being posted on the site..."No".
I have no idea who works at LG but when I call them they always seem to be a bunch of morons. Life isn't so good with LG. LOL

Lion is the culprit. Basically, Apple didn't include some SMB feature in Lion that Snow Leopard had which permitted the DB570 to stream from the Mac. Something to do with licensing. So last night I reverted back to Snow Leopard with Time Machine (reboot+option key) and now I can stream from my Mac. I'm staying away from Lion.

"Home Link" will work with Lion if you install TVMobili. I've had to use that since upgrading and it works pretty good. Bit of an audio delay but I was able to correct that with my receiver. http://www.tvmobili.com/

Yesterday I've finally updated to v360.C , after lots of failures (server overload?). I'm wondering about improvements with this new release.
My suggestion is to avoid to contact LG's customer care; many of the support team are just poor operators, and maybe they doesn't know what is a firmware and how to update it. It's just a waste of time.

PS: Netcast services stills not updated :-(

Keep trying on the 360.c upgrade. Mine failed all weekend but that was probably due to the local ISP over here for which the system usually starts faltering when the kids get home on Friday afternoon getting worse over the wekend finally to be attended to by about 11:30 am Monday morning. By Monday night a 4 hour download and 45 minute loading were done. I don't see any differences especially in the two issues I'm most concerned with since getting the dual layers straightened out. 1st is some very sticky BD playback on certain blu-rays under certain targets for which I don't have enough examples to generalize. The second is Home connection playback issues for which I'm trying to get some summaries together. I am trying Media Center and Nero Media Home 4 (not the essentials) servers and they seem to be very similar. I have a few MKVs. Often audio is a problem, they seem to have uncommon audio formats for one.

Just updated FW to 360c on my BD550, and here on the West Coast at 2:25am - it took literally less than 5 minutes.. no joke. The blue download bar just raced across the screen, and actually took longer while "updating.." the player than the download!

The good news is everything I checked out worked like a gem
* No chapter skip/audio problem on SDVD (and PQ was amazing..hmmm it's been so long have I forgotten how good upsampled DVD's looked?..
* YouTube video was outstanding (watched 'usopensurfing')
* All VUDU audio on previews and trailers worked great
* Pandora fine
* DivX TV fine
* Gracenote worked on CD's, SDVD's and Blu-ray's equally as well

I don't have Netflix, sorry folks...

I was like Splicer, and wasn't gonna move from 323c, but so far so good...

Am also having problems downloading 360c here in Canada. I was hoping it would fix the problem I'm having playing MKVs. As I remember, my BD 370 was playing them before but at some point (upgrade to 356c?) it seems to have lost the ability.

It took over 3 hours to download and install 360c for the BD570.

On the Panasonic 210 it took all of 15 minutes to update to their latest FW.

Come on LG, get a fast server.

I had no trouble downloading and installing the update. Lo and behold the Evil Dead Blu-Ray now actually plays! However, I *might* have heard a a dropout at a chapter break on the The Wire first season DVD, but didn't go back to confirm (the roommate, well she doesn't have much tolerance for that sort of fussing about), nor did I notice any more.

In your face LG is all I have to say on this. The 360C update has finally been downloaded and installed. Just checked their website and it still hasn't been posted there.
Why is everyone so anxious to download the update? No one even knows what it is for or does.
