Maybe it was unintentional on your part. Text is notoriously tone neutral, so maybe you were just being nice. If so, carry on.

The picture will just freeze and none of the controls work. This is the first I have seen this with this player. I can hold down the power button on the unit and it will turn off. I haven't even used this player much to play blu-rays since I bought it in December 2010. FW version BD.8.31.362.C. There is a new version out that I downloaded but haven't installed as some are saying that it knocked out netflix.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

Mine overheated badly, expecially when stacked on top of an amp. I had to lift it 2 inches off the surface to get better circulation. BluRay makes more of a resource demand then dvd. It could be overheating. When it starts locking up, eject the disk and feel how hit it is. That was what clued me in. Put a fan behind it and if that solves the problem then replace the existing internal fan with a better one. I had to open up and install a cpu fan directly on the heat sink of a samsung BD-C7900 as it had NO fan at all and had trouble playing BD-R DLs after about 30 minutes of play time.

Thanks for the reply. But I have since purchased a Sony BDP-S580, BDP-S590, and a Panasonic DMP-BDT110. Got the Sony 580 for $60 (refurb from Sony Store), the Panny 110 for $60 brand new off craigslist, and the Sony 590 for $120 from Target. The LG has taken a spot under the bed! 2 of these players will probably be sold. Not sure it was an overheating issue or not. I had it sandwiched between a Directv SD receiver and an Oppo DVD/SACD player, all stacked on top of 2 Sony 400 disc CD Mega changers that don't generate much heat. An AVR is on a shelf below. I suppose the Directv box generates some heat. I will check that out, as the Panny 110 is currently sitting on top of a Directv HD DVR that I just moved into the room. I have no choice but to stack all the equipment on top of one another as it is all sitting in an older TV stand that is not wide enough to set devices side by side. I think I will pull out the LG and try and play a blu-ray with the player sitting outside of the stand on its own and see how it performs.

Yup my LG is now blu-ray only, I bought a Roku 2 XS and couldn't be happier with the streaming !!

Seriously? You are saying it like something is wrong with the LG and everybody knows NOT to stack ANYTHING on top of an amp.

As for streaming, I never had an issue streaming with my 570.

Alright, I've read through countless posts on this issue, but here we go: We've played netflix instant watch titles on a regular basis for almost a year with no issues on our bd 570. Then just a few days ago all of sudden I get the "this title is not currently available" error. I tried waiting a few days for the issue to go away but no such luck. Every title selected gets the same error. I have numerous other netflix enable devices that work fine. I have the latest firmware(which may be the problem) but had no problems after installing the update initially. I've tried disconnecting the device and resetting the blu-ray player but this has not fixed the issue. What should I try next?

Thank you for your help.

Hi guys
I've just noticed that my BD570 does not offer auto fill drop-down menu during YouTube search. But if I'm not mistaken, player had this option before?
I'm on latest FW (EU player) Anyone noticed something similar?
Thanks for your help

Yes, it hasn't been offering guesses as to what you are typing as it had in the past, and I'm still on 323C. I guess the server just got lazy, or possibly somebody got offended by some of the suggestions and they decided to pull that feature.

Hi guys,
This is the first time I have tried. I am hoping someone can help me out please? I have an LG BD-570 Blu Ray player and it is updated to the latest Firmware. But when I try playing MP3's via the USB port by plugging a USB stick into it I get a Circle with a diagonal line through it not allowing me to play anything at all.
Can someone please point me in the direction to get this to play?
Many Thanks

Andy

Not sure, here are some ideas:
- Just a guess, perhaps the filename is not being recognized? Maybe you have special characters in the file name or it should be a lower-case .mp3 instead of .MP3?
- Try a different mp3 file
- Make sure you eject your USB from your computer to ensure the data is not corrupted.
- If you have another device that plays mp3 from a USB, see if it plays in that device

Hiya,

Normally when copying files from a USB drive to the BD-590's HDD, I create or use a folder. Yesterday I copied a movie file onto the HDD *without* selecting a folder -- I just hit OK on the HDD root screen. The copy process happened, and then... nothing. The file doesn't appear on the HDD root screen (all I see is my existing folders, and the movie file isn't in any of them).

However, I can get to (and play) the file using the Search function, but this route doesn't allow me the option to delete the file if later I want to free up space on my HDD. Anyone encountered this before? Found a way to delete a file that isn't showing up on the HDD? Or, has anyone found a way to delete the whole HDD (reformat the drive, as it were)?

Thanks.

Orlando

Hi all, first time poster here. Tons of great information, wish I had read this before updating my recently purchased BD590 (Ebay). I'm having a problem that I haven't seen described after reading and searching most of this thread. The first thing I did after hooking it up was check for a firmware update, it said there was one, so I updated (who knew that would be a bad thing!) Well anyway, everything I tried afterward worked great..it wirelessly streams files from my pc and router a floor below, youtube, netflix etc work., plays cd, cd+/-R dvds, dvd+/-r's and blu-ray (although I've only tried one so far). But when finally I sat down to start archiving a large cd collection, as soon as I hit the Start button to record, the unit freezes up and the only recourse is to unplug it and plug it back in. I tried recording from a usb thumbdrive, same thing. The odd thing is, someone before me has left about 10 gb of music on the HDD, which I can access and play with no problem, so the hard drive hasn't died..something just won't let me write to it. I didn't think to make note of what version firmware it had before updating, but now I'm wondering if this could be the reason it apparently worked before and now won't. I wish I had tried burning cd's before I updated, then I would know, but I didn't . I won't make that mistake again. I contacted the seller to try to find out if that function had been tested before shipping..he said the unit had been "fully tested"...but you know how that goes. He's offered a refund, but for 65 bucks I think I'll keep it anyway. I don't *need* the internal HDD, it will play from an external 500gb hdd that I have and don't really use much anyway...it would just be nice to use the one that's in there.
No idea if it will fix the problem.... (thoughts on that?)... but I would be willing to try to flash it back to the above version that Frank and others have said was the best one, except that I've never done it and not sure on the procedure. I've read to download the file, load onto a USB stick and install, but that's all I know. If someone could please post the detailed steps involved to flash my 590 back to BD.8.31.323.C I would appreciate it greatly, and if this has been posted before and I missed it, I apologize but I really did look for hours. I don't know where to get the file or if there can be anything else on the usb stick when it is inserted, how to initialize the transfer..etc. Many thanks for your time in advance.

Wow..that was fast... Thank you xekester! Just got done checking out the link....everything I need is right there. I'm just a little skeptical that this will fix the problem...seems like more people would be b*itchin about it here by now if the latest firmware knocked out their ability to write to the hdd. . I might wait to hear more opinion on it before I attempt this rollback. Every other function is working as far as I know right now and I don't want to screw that up without hearing from some of the knowledgeable people here that this is worth the try. (In other words...I'm a little scared, lol) But now I know where to find the file and directions.....thanks again!

Meanwhile pick a version that works for you, and then ignore all other update notices...there haven't been any "necessary" updates in quite a while, and there probably won't be any in the future.

Good Luck

Is there region hack to bd550 or any solutions to make it play all blu-rays/dvd:s?

Sharing photos on desktop to bd590

I am having great difficulty accessing photos on LG BD590 that reside on my Win 7 Home Premium desktop. I have setup a share folder and created a user that has access to the share on my desktop. But when i go to my bd590 and click on the computer name in the Homelink list, it pops up the CFIS screen. I type in the name of the use and the password, yet nothing. Each time I click on the computer name in the list, it asks for authentication. I have tried every combination of user name that I know.

Help!

I have a BD570. Just today I found out that two of my BDs would not play in my 570. They both give "check disc" errors. One of them I've played before in the machine a few months ago and another is new. Both of them work on a LG BD550 and a Sony BDP-N460. Any idea that might help in this situation?

First of all, hello to everybody I am new to the forum.

I have a couple of questions really, I am an owner of a 42LW450U 3D TV and a BD660 and as LG seem to be absolutely useless in releasing release notes for updates, does anybody have any idea what kind of things the updates for my BD660 are doing/changing?

Second question, firstly I’ll explain that I am using the expert ISF mode with all gimmicks switched off like true motion, edge enhancement, dynamic contrast etc. the only thing enabled is real cinema. On my player I have 24p enabled. I have noticed that when watching 3D Blu-ray films there seems to be some small but consistent juddering going in some scenes, one example of this is in Despicable me where he is in space and his ticket comes out of his pocket and out of the screen, as it comes across and out of the screen it visible judders across. But this also happens on all 3d films in various places to varying degrees particularly with out of screen moments. true motion seems to help with this but only with dejudder set to zero as setting it to 3 as recommended by a review site for the TV causes a weird jump in some 3d scenes every now and then. And of course the soap effect is not good so I really wanted to avoid this setting.

note: this does not seem to happen on normal 2D bluray playback and appears normal and fluid and I am also using a cheap High Speed Hdmi Cable w/Ethernet.

Does anybody know what I am talking about and is this normal?

Hello,

I have a problem I was trying to fix for a long time, but was unable to. Perhaps someone here will be able to assist me.

I own LG BD550 blu-ray player. I ran into some movies I couldn't play from my USB (got a message saying the LG may not run them correctly).
So I thought a firmware update will perhaps solve this issue. I've downloaded the firmware files from LG website and copied them to my USB disk root.
But the LG BD550 doesn't seem to do anything, like it doesn't recognize those files!

I've tried with:
LG_BD_5100B30.ROM-00
LG_BD_5100B30.ROM-01

Then I've tried with:
H08SAN.bin

My current software is:
MAIN VER: BD4.874.00
SERVO VER: H08LGN0812

When I tried to manually update (hitting the B), I get this message:
Quote:
Cannot find an update.
Check the network connection cable.
But my BD550 is not even connected to a network, I was trying to use the USB...

Please assist if you can...

I don't recognize those firmware versions. Are you sure you have a US model BD550? The firmware you are trying to install is a US version. The recommended US firmware version numbers are BD.8.31.323.C and H80602 (entirely different name formats). US firmware won't work on non-US machines.
You are correct! That was indeed the problem.
I wasn't aware of the fact that there is more than one type of BD550.

I went to the UK site: http://www.lg.com/uk/support-product/lg-BD550#
There is a different firmware there, and the update instructions are different as well. It worked on my device.

Thanks!

I don't think you want to click on the computer icon, but rather on a shared folder icon beneath the computer icon (it should show all folders you've set up as shared via SMB). If you haven't set up any shared folders, you won't be able to access files on that computer.
