Hey everyone new to this community. Thanks for the help in advance. I am looking to purchase a new LCD-LED TV to replace my Viore 46 inch. I want to get one for black Friday and am looking to purchase a tv in the $600-$800 range. The tv's that I have researched and selected that I am not sure what I want to buy are as follows.

46" Samsung LED 1080p 120Hz HDTV UN46D6050
46" Hitachi LED 1080p 120Hz LE46S605
LG 47LV4400 47" LED HDTV

Out of these 3 TV's which will provide me with the best picture, least amount of LED screen bleed. They are all similar in price range and really it has come down to which is truly the best.

Thanks

The models are your list however appear to sell for double your price range.
For under $800 you need to go with lower series models, maybe plasma or LCD rather than LED.

I am looking to get a 55 inch LED. I am not too interested in 3D so here is my question: Should I look at the new 2D/3D TVs with the 240 refresh rate to get a better 2D picture or will the older 2D only TVs be about the same?

Thanks
I can tell you if you are not getting 3D there is no reason to get 240hz. Your eyes will not be able to tell the difference between the two watching HD content. There is definitely a difference between 60 to 120hz though but 120hz will more than suffice for waht you'd like to do.

Thanks for reply. I do have DirecTv so I can get a few 3D channels and 3D sports do intrigue me. I can sort of "future proof" by going to 2D/3D models and the prices are about the same. But then I got to decide on Active or Passive 3D, I love Samsung Products but the LG LW6500 does peak my interest especially since it has Matte screen and price of the 3D glasses.

I have a real geek dilemma going. I'm finally upgrading my beloved SXRD KDS-60A2020 this Black friday and I'm having one hell of a time picking a new set.
Here are the main guidelines I'm using:

1. Budget = $1100
2. Bright room = (Sadly) No plasma
3. Best PQ + Size for my dollar ... PQ being most important
4. I watch mainly Sports,VUDU and Bluray... With some gaming
5. I stream through my Bluray player. Internet connectivity means zero in this case.
6. Thickness of the TV and power consumption has absolutely no bearing.. I just want PQ+Size for my dollar.

Dogs in the fight:

Sharp 60" CCFL LCD LC-60E79U = $799.99 at Best Buy

Sharp 60" LED LCD LC-60LE6300U = $999.99 at HH Gregg

Samsung 55" LED LCD UN55D6003FXZA = $999.99 at Best Buy

... Pulling up the rear... Toshiba 65" CCFL LCD 65HT2U = $998 at Wally World (Only set I cannot find in person to toy with. Me=Skeptical on PQ)

Help a guy out... What's your take?

Noob Question: I have bought an open box 60 inch Samsung UN60D8000 LED HDTV (missing remote and no glasses either nor HDMI cables) at Bestbuy brick and mortar for 1700. I have not yet picked it up. I need to decide if I should cancel my order and instead buy the Sony 55 inch new KDL55HX820 LED HDTV with Alice in Wonderland starter Kit at Compusa with all discounts and cashback for 1550. Any advice? Also what are the pitfalls of an open box? Not able to make up my mind hence looking forward to advice from experts on here.

What is most important to you?

If I buy a open box, I normally buy Best Buy's excellent warranty with the item which would be about $200 in you case. It's a small price to pay if something is wrong because they can and will give you a new tv if necessary.

For the Samsung

The glass are about $30 dollars and pair as well as the wireless docking station which is about a $80. You can buy the glasses that take batteries which I think cost a bit more a pair.

This is more money invested than the Sony 55 inch with the kit. However, I believe that 3D is better the larger the TV is. Therefore, I would always buy the largest tv I can get assuming all offerings are of proper quality.

If budget is a concern, then the 55 inch Sony is a no brainer. The larger Sammy is always my first pick. Plus, both LCD's are good tv's to half.

Counterpoint...

You could buy a new Samsung Plasma for a similar price or even savings. A new Samsung 7000 series 59 inch goes for $2100 with two glasses with batteries and a Blu-ray player at Best Buy. The TV and BluRay player are 3D and tv can convert 2D content to 3D.

Hello

I am new to the forum and need some guidance. I am looking for the best lcd/led tv's conducive for outdoor use (55in. to 82in). I might bezel 2 (42in) or (60In) screens together as well. I am concerned about the natural sunlight; the different climates in various parts across the US e.g. Tampa and Wisconsin; what size screen would be best seen at a distance of 30 to 35 feet maybe more. I thought of having the screens placed inside a shadow box 12 inches deep with a 36 in overhang to help shield the screens from the sun.

Are there special climate control enclosures that the screens can be placed? If so would the enclosure then create a glare? Any help would truly be appreciated. Thank You.

I'd suggest to go to your local sports bar and look at what they are using, i would think you should use the low end brand names since you most likely will have to replace this TV more often that if it is inside the house

I am looking for a good TV - either 47" or 50", but will consider 55" if its really good.

1. Budget: ~$1000-1200

2. Seating distance: ~10 ft

3. Size/placement limitations: 47" or 50" is ideal

4. Uses and sources: Main use is Netflix/Hulu/Amazon, and watching international movies downloaded in AVI format (DivX encoded). I currently do that by connecting my laptop to the computer using HDMI out cable.

5. Room lighting: Normal/well lit.

I am mainly looking for something that is full array and local dimming. The Vizio XVT473SV is one model I have in mind - but can someone suggest some alternatives from LG & Sharp?

1. Budget- 300-400
2. Seating distance 4-8 feet (seating its perpendicular to the screen)
3. Size/placement- no more than 46... thinking 40 or 42
4. Uses and sources- HD cable box... maybe a DVD player
5. Room lighting Fairly bright.. large sliding-glass door but draps can be closed

Hello everyone. I'm shopping for my first HDTV. Never thought that buying a tv would be so difficult with so many brands and models to look at. I stumbled on this site while google searching various tv.

Budget is 1500, I want a passive 3dtv LED 1080p.
I will be doing alot of gaming and will watch movies at night or in a dark room.

I pretty much narrowed it down to a LG 55LW6500. Are there any other models that I should consider as well?

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to decide between the Samsung UN40D6000 ($798) and the Panasonic VIERA TC-L37E3 ($610). Mostly going to use the set for watching HD content and gaming. Both prices are coming from Amazon. I'm just wondering if Samsung is worth the apps, sexy design, and everything else it comes with.

Any input is welcomed!

So yeah basically i'm trying to find a better HDTV to relace the one i've had for about 9-10 years. I've looked but i'm a bit in over my head, getting confused and such. The things I have been looking for is a 40 inch screen size or 42 inch (40 would be better just for a smother/shaper image)

It would also have to be 1080p and either LED or LCD (though as far as I am aware the difference is almost none) it must not be plasma. Other than that it needs a very low motion blur and imput lag as I am a gamer and the TV will be used mainly for that purpose both PC and Xbox 360 (with occasional Wii but not often). A Tv that doesn't get screen tearing/ visual tearing because all of the xbox and pc games I play seem to all get some. A high Hz rate would be great too. I'm not to bothered about the brand just so long as it meets the requirements.

So what is the best 55" LCD I can get for around $1000. It can a little more price then that if it gets me a better TV for a couple hundred bucks more. 55" is the largest TV my entertainment center will hold so no bigger then that. Any good cyber monday sales going on?

I was maybe thinking of a refurbished Samsung LN55C650.

Hello! I am looking for an LCD TV in the $400-$500 price range. I will use it mainly for gaming, blu rays, and television. Here are the specs that I want for it...

1. Full HD 1080p
2. IPS Panel(or if there is something better)
3. 37-40 inch

My dilemma is that most people say that 120Hz is best for Blu Ray while 60Hz is best for gaming. I cannot find a TV in my price range that has my 3 requirements plus 120Hz. I was set on buying the Panasonic TC-L37U3 after I saw it at Best Buy. To me, it looks absolutely amazing and it has a game mode. The only problem is that it is 60Hz. I have 32 inch 720p Toshiba in my front room that I have never noticed motion blurring with it when watching blu rays. I'm just afraid that not that I know about motion blur, I'm going to see it on the TV I buy and I will be disappointed.

With my budget, I just cannot find the best TV for gaming and movies. I probably watch blu rays more than playing games. I have looked high and low, but the one thing that I want the most is a great picture.

I have 2 Panny plasmas and love them. I was looking to get a 3rd plasma. But with all the problems with Samsung D7000 (buzzing, brightness pops) and Panny (green blobs and FBr) I'm a little worried. I searched local stores to get a Aug or later build date on a Panny Plasma ST or GT, couldn't find one. I refuse to purchase a Panny and wait for a board replacement.

So I'm looking to get an LED. One chair in my living room is at a 30 degree angle from the front viewing position of the TV. Would that be an issue?

I'll use it for gaming, watching sports, Blu-ray/DVD and HD-Cable. It is a dark room so that's why I had a plasma before. Would I be disappointed with the PQ after watching Plasmas for so long?

LED specs:

46 - 50"
$2000 budget
minimal input lag

Can someone recommend a TV? Thanks.

I'm looking for a stripped down 46' LCD-LED TV. I don't want any bells or whistles, just a plain old TV for sports and casual viewing.

Budget: $800 Give or Take

I'd recommend the high rated Samsung LN46D550 1080p LCD.
No flashlighting or clouding, and has good uniformity, unlike the higher priced LED models.
Its been onsale recently for well under your budget price too.

No. For the money the PQ is the best of the passives. Stay away from Vizio.

I replaced my Sony 4100 series with an LG 46lw5700 from Costco.. I WANT to like this tv, however, it just looks dim and washed out despite using recommended settings and adjusting a lot.. I do not have to have 3d, but would like to keep using netflix and also usb to play the avi files.. love that ability.. I saw the thread on what was on sale Black Friday.. anyone have any input on the p quality of the Sony 729 and the samsungs there.. Should the LG pic quality be close to the others? Thanks in advance for help with this..
