The stores I have available to me are Best Buy, Zellers, Future Shop (I know, same as BB more or less), Walmart, Andres Audiotronic (private company out of BC Canada), The Source, London Drugs, Visions, Sears, The Brick, and a couple of other one-off local joints that are too expensive for my price range.

My budget is limited to 529 before taxes (12 percent)/eco-fee (31.75CAD) (549 at Walmart since a family member has a discount there) + a 2 year warranty plan. I could probably squeeze 599 at walmart if it was something really good but no more than 549 anywhere but walmart.

My needs: LCD/LED/Plasma but has to be 1080p, 37" Minimum but 40"+ preferred. 3 minimum (4 preferred) HDMI ports, 1 USB Port, Audio Out, Optical Digital Audio, 1 component (2 preferred) jack set, 1 composite jack set, Bonus points for a DVI/VGA plug and/or being a Smart TV.

Preferred Brands: Samsung, LG, Panasonic, Sony, Sharp in that order

Estimated Buy Date: 1 1/2 weeks from *today*

Now, that all said I know my selection is fairly limited especially since I'd also prefer the tv had somewhat recent tech in its innards (2011) but what I've come up with from all the above mentioned stores: (can't post links yet so will just post model numbers)

If I do end up with the LN40D550 I definitely will need some help calibrating it (or is tinkering with the settings just 'setting' things up? all this talk about calibration disc and spectrimeters and such makes my head spin @.@)

I have a window that is normally covered by blinds and two medium watt lamps in the corners of the room. It gets bright during clear days or if my wife wants the blinds open. Low light otherwise.
