Which do I buy? : Samsung UN50EH5000FXZA vs. UN50F5000AFXZA?
The specifications on these are almost identical.
I can get the UN50EH5000FXZA for $160 less, but it is from 2012.
I would prefer a Samsung panel, but I read somewhere that none of the 50" have Samsung panels.
Who makes the panels for the 50"?
Is it worth paying for a set with a 120 hz refresh rate?
I am no expert, but I researched both of these in my search for a 40-42 and came to the following conclusions:
Very similar specs
I believe the "EH" series is backlit versus edge lit on the "F" series. I think if you search out some reviews on both of these you will see that mentioned. On the 40", the EH is quite a bit "thicker" at 3.7" vs 1.9" on the F. Typically, edge lit TVs are thinner. My research shows (in general) that back lit is better.
The EH also weighs a few pounds more.
Lastly, the sound system is different. The EH has the SRS TheaterSound HD vs the DTS Studio Sound in the F. Based on a comparison of their higher-priced models, the higher priced models usually include the DTS Studio Sound. I would not let that be a make or break since most folks end up using a speaker system or sound bar.
I would search the web for legit reviews on both and make your decision that way (picture quality, customer satisfaction, etc).
Hope that helps.
