The HDMI1 can be added to favorites if you want to avoid the input button. I did this because of personal issues with ARC turning on my TV speakers. You haven't mentioned your TV make & model, but that seems to be the complicated part, not the 570. Before the AVR I still had HDMI control disabled on the TV. Your wife is right: it's too complicated. Bottom line is that turning a device on will cause a switch on my AVR, turning it off does not (on my TV or AVR) cause a switch back.

Joe, after looking through my tv's (HX800) i-manual, I discovered that if I leave the BD570 HDMI Control on "off" and go into my tv's menu (don't know if it's the same for all Sony's), it will allow me to set up different parameters-for instance, have the BD player turn on the tv and switch to correct input, but also have the tv turn off and not turn off the BD player. Check it out, this has made it a bit easier.
