The difference between a repair and exchange is that with an exchange, as soon as they get your player in they send out the exchange unit. With a repair, you have to wait on them to identify and verify the problem, check if it's covered by warranty, then repair and return it to you.

Why are you exchanging it? Just curious......

WiFi is having fits on it. I've had hit and miss wifi issues since it was new, but the last week before sending it in it got really bad until wifi finally would only work for 30sec-2min before bombing. I'd have to cycle the power then wifi would again work for that short period and bomb. Same thing everytime I cycle the power.

Ah. I've had Netflix streaming problems on my unit like a lot of other people, but I've never been able to pin it specifically on the WIFI functionality of the player.

Hope the replacement works better for you!

You might also try turning off the 50GT30's "3:2 pulldown" and see if it is reproducible.

I tried to disable the "3:2 pulldown" but it's blacked out. The Iron Man 2 disc still has this issue when playing the exact same scene. I haven't tried connecting it directly to the tv. I guess I should do that next. I've been watching other blu rays without issues, such as Arthur, Blue Valentine, Insidious and Season of the Witch, however, today i started to watch Harry Potter and Deathly Hollows and right at the beginning of the movie the audio suddenly cut off for 1 second. When I rewinded the disc, it played fine. This is strange. I'm wondering if maybe the player is not compatible with the Panasonic GT30?

What is the best HDMI cable for PQ for the BDP-S750. Do not care about the cost.
richall01,
Unless you have amazing super vision you probably aren't going to see much (if any) difference among reasonably well made cables. I get mine from Amazon or Monoprice and the PQ and price has always been great.

Your picture will never be improved by an HDMI cable, it will either give you the best picture, or it will be unwatchable. Purchase a cable from Blue Jeans or BetterCables for about $10-15 and it will give you the exact same picture as a $150 Monster.

Kimber Kable HD29 at $277 per meter is the one for you. I love it when real man does not care about the cost of his cables for..... $250 blue ray player

but if to answer your question seriously, any $10 latest hdmi cable will perform at 100%

So as of late with my recent Blu-ray disc purchases, I've noticed that they take a really long time to load. Especially RIO (upwards of a minute plus). Is this typical of the player or newer discs, or is there something going wrong. Is there a FW update to address this slow load up time?
Me too, RIO loads slowly and then skips repeatedly. Seems to be isolated to PS3 and various other Sony players. Hoping for an firmware update soon.

Ok good. My copy of Rio skipped the first part of the movie. Good to know others are experiencing the same.

My copy of the Limitless Bluray will not allow me to skip the previews/trailers at all on my 570. Tried fast forwarding, chapter skip, top menu etc. to no avail. I returned it for another copy and it does the same.

Anyone have an issue with Limitless?

So far the only difference I can think of is that Sony does not support DLNA but supports 3d via a firmware upgrade and vice versa for LG.

I'm unclear what DNLA support is lacking. Could you be more specific?

Where did the post go? Heaven?

Another vote for Blue Jeans Cable.com

Sadly, I think Sony abandoned us.

I agree and it sucks!
We shouldn't have to buy a new Blu-ray player every two years to get FW updates, I gave up on the new Blu-ray releases and only rent DVD's now. Turning off BD-Live or turning it on and selecting back USB doesn't work on the new releases.

I've kept a profile 1.1 player around for stability, while it loads slower then my 2.0 players, it doesn't have the hang up of needing updates like the newer players it seems, maybe if it's just the movie you're interested in see if you can't get a used profile 1.1 player for backup some place. All the new releases I've thrown at this player have worked without problems.

I believe I asked this question once before and never got a reply so I will try again.
Has anyone had trouble with the bluray movie Almost Famous, Directors Cut, or I think it is actually called the Bootleg Cut?

It is the only movie I have had trouble with freezing up, skipping, drop outs when played on my 570.

It's bad. I have the S570 and love it. If I was to upgrade to the S780 (current best Blu-ray), I would lose features. Perhaps I would gain something, but using SonyStyle reviews, I would be nuts to lose my S570.

I don't think Sony has left us out in the cold. They have been busy. I hope they get something out, press release or web site information. For now, I'll wait.

Guys!!! ALL of your problems will be solved with a proper hdmi cable, like the Kimber Kable HD29 at $277 per meter, it is not the FW update, it is your cable!!!

Thanks friend, I'll run right out and buy one!

Back to the S570:
I'm not angry at Sony for not updating the FW...I'm angry at the studios for putting all the BD-Live and copy-protection crap on the BD.

I think both are at fault here......

Sadly my copy of Rio will not play on my S570 but it does play fine on my S560. At least the DVD version plays fine on the S570...

Has anyone did the exchange option through Sony? If so what is different about the player you get back from them? Are you required to pay shipping to them?
I fairly confident we'll see a firmware update. Hard to believe Sony would not address playback problems with Rio or other movies. With the way that Sony ate it over the PS3 security issues one has to wonder where their resources are targeted right now.
Has does the 3D DVD's play on the BDP-S750?

I did the exchange. The player is basically the same as the one I sent them, except it was a later revision. And yes, I had to pay shipping to them.
