Cmon guys, do a little more reading. No PQ diff between the 85/65, and the only difference between these models and the older models is DVD playback. Blu-ray playback is pretty consistent over all players.

I must be blind or daft. I can't find a pdf of the manual for the 85 anywhere. Panasonic's website sucks. I would love to give it a read before pulling the trigger. Thanks to anyone who can point me in the right direction!

Compared to the 1 samsung, 2 panny's and pioneer i've owned, I'd give this player 4 stars. Only thing Im upset is that it does not do Vudu, and I agree with your comment on 3D. Thats just stupid.

One thing these reviews never take into account is that Panny has always been fast with FW and the players tend to play discs more reliably than some other brands.

They always have to put down a "con", so they can be fair and balanced. If it is a phenomenal device, they will resort to "heavy" or "not available in pink".

My dad ordered it, so I called and asked him if he tried it, but he hasn't checked the mail yet, so I guess I'm no help.

I heard it worked fine on the panasonic 30.. plus panasonic is working with the studio on the movie. there is a 25 dollar rebate if you buy any of the 2010 models including the 85.

It was in the twin pack (blu-ray / dvd) I bought. You'd think it would be in the regular dvd also if they want to sell blu-ray players. Course the twin pack would be the one to get if you wanna watch it on a dvd player and then on blu-ray after you buy a blu-ray player.

No, not the way I'm reading it. You don't need to send a receipt for the movie itself. Only the proof of purchase inside the dvd/ blu-ray box. You do need the receipt and the cutout off the blu-ray player box. They got you jumping through hoops for that $25 rebate. I hate rebates.

That's why so many companies do them. Many people forget to send in the rebate forms, or don't even bother to send them in. The company doesn't lose as much money as they would if they just put the product on sale.

Does anybody know how this player handles HD content on YouTube? It almost seems as though it plays the lowest quality version even if there is a HD version of the video. I can't seem to find anywhere that the quality can be changed. Any ideas?

Sorry if this has been posted before: does anybody know why the North American model of the DMP-BD85 doesn't support DLNA but does elsewhere? This is the one thing that prevents me from going for this model.

The BD70V is a BD60 with a VHS player. It's a 2009 model so no Netflix. Also, no MCH analog outs.

New to the Blu party - I have an older non-hdmi receiver and believe this to be the player for me.

The question is: is this available at any B&M stores? Maybe this player is just being rolled out? I can't find it at the few around me that would carry Panasonic gear.

The BB stores in my area don't have them in stock either. I picked mine up at a smaller audio/ video store locally. You'll just have to search around on the net or call around locally.
