Is this going to work the way I want it too. So now that all the rough-in is done, I have to get the system designed. I am open to suggestions so all information is welcome.

OK, I added the Home Internet Network to the bottom.
This will be my first integrated A/V System and network set up, So please let me know if there is any thing that looks out of place.

It looks ok. Just be aware of the limitations of HDMI for distributed audio/video, particularly it being limited to the best common format of attached devices. For a decent overview of these limitations have a look at the Crestron DM brochure - http://www.crestron.eu/newsletter/im...gitalmedia.pdf

Quick question, I am getting the Tv mounts from monoprice and the ones I am getting do not have the middle open to mount over the outlets. So my questions
is, is it typical to mount the tv above or below the outlet. The outlet's are either 62" or 68" above the floor. I was thinking below the oulets.
You might be able to adjust the mount enough to accomodate the outlets. The mounts typically allow for a lot of vertical adjustment.

You could always cut out the back with a hole saw (like the ones used for stainless steel kitchen sink accessories) to allow for the outlet.

Also, my Monoprice mount works great but, I did break three of the supplied lag bolts even when predrilling. I would pick up a few extra before its time to put the mount up.

Love the Ceiling details. Very Nice.

For the TV mount, depending on how high you want your TV, I would probably mount it under the outlets. The outlets placement is high, so you dont want to put your TV too high...could cramp your neck when watching unless you're fully reclined or something...

Also for Shuffleboard and Pooltable, check out my thread. I find that most females love to play shuffleboard, so when we have guest over, the chics (and some dudes) are huddled at the Shuffle, while the dudes are shootin' pool...
and as Remax stated, go with the solid hard maple tables, they're much better quality and gives you more consistent play.
they're pricier though.

Btw, I went with with McClure Tables. http://www.mccluretables.com/
customer service is second to none there. I do recall the owner stopping by this site here a while back and offering discounts to AVS members too...

Thanks I appreciate it, I never thought about trimming out around the outlets.

I just bought 4 TV mounts from Monoprice I had better go buy a box of lag bolts just in case.

New question what kind of surge protection are you guys using for you flat screen tv's?
I found that a 1/4" bit works best but dont ream out the hole. I run the bit in once then back it out. If it feels like it's going to break, it probably will. You should not have to use all your strength to turn it.

Take a 2x4 and drill out a few practice holes and try screwing in the lag bolt. Get the feel of it.

I've hung about half a dozen monoprice mounts

Looks great - love seeing all the build progress pics, and not just the game room!

When I first saw the sketch of the layout, my first thought was to change it to what you did in the 2nd sketch... so great edit! I personally really like that rounded sectional over the 90 degree one though.

Either way, looking good!

This is the adjacent media closet for the game room.

Actually, this is such a fantastic and unique space that we are extremely interested in the build photos. Keep up the great work and keep those photos coming! Thanks.

OK, so they finished up interior paint this weekend, but I forgot my camera.
Here are some updated pictures about a week old. The only reason they have
not bricked the front is I am waiting on my special order front doors.
They are Knotty Alder double 3'x8' doors coming out of Oregon(I think).
Should be here this Friday.

Edit-My Monoprice order should be in tomorrow. Its coming in 3 boxes 4-TV mounts, 4x4 HDMI switch and all those cables. It will be like Christmas morning.
I am all giddy.

First off, thanks for all the feed back. I really appreciate the help. I will continue to post as long as you continue to look.

Old,

Thank you for the reply. You must have been typing while I was typing. Some how I actually missed your post. Nice build love the stone, looks great.

Question which table was it that you ended up going with? I was looking at the 14' competitor. If you remember were that post was about the discount let me know. I will give them a call to see what they can do for me.
I'm posting; because I'm looking.
And; I really like the look of this ceiling treatment.

Keep those photos coming and we'll keep critiquing your space. Going to be very nice that's for sure!

I went with the 14' Edmore table. Mahogony color. It's a beautiful table.

Here is the link to the post with his email and phone number. His username here is Shuffleboardtod or something like that:

Tell him I (Chuong) sent you, we have talked a lot in the past and recently, so I know he'll remember me.

btw, I have 2 Monoprice TV mounts, and am happy with both of them. I find them to be pretty high quality and at a great price...

After doing some more measuring today looks like I will have to get the 12' table. I am a little bummed about that but O'well.

All so my wife found this one on line. Have you ever hear of berner billiards?

I'm curious as to how well your 4x4 HDMI switch works out. I installed a couple of Audio Authority 1x4 HDMI repeaters and have had many problems with HDCP and am in a finger pointing battle between Motorola, NAD and Audio Authority. I have temporarily removed the HDMI repeaters.

Please let me know of your trials and tribulations.

Here are some actual AV updated. They built and painted my closet A/V rack. I am going to have to put some sort of fan in here because I know it going to get hot.

But I did have an A/C drop put in.

I will end up drilling out a few holes with a hole saw to get wires in and organized, but I figure I will do that after I get all my stuff sorted and installed.

A local bar has a 9' table we used to play with, so it could be worse
just kidding

I actually looked into the Berner Billiards before going with McClure. Their price is right. Very affordasble.

Now, I'm no shuffleboard expert, but I believe their board is not made with Hardwood Maple, so it's softer and their polymer coating is prone to chipping if the pucks bounce off the edge and hits it hard enough. And lastly, their top is is not edge glued together like a butcher block style, which is weaker and could lead to some cracking if you tighten the climatic adjusters too hard when you're adjusting your table.

Basically the bottom line is, that table will get the job done, and will probably last in a home environment. But if you want the absolute best quality, go with a McClure or Champion, etc.
Personally, I went with better, b/c we entertain a lot, so the table gets used a lot, by adults and children, so I didn't want to worry about chipped up polymers, etc. Also the Edmore table had the "look" I was going for as well.

Maybe I can have Todd respond to give some honest info...if you want...

btw, I don't have any affiliation with McClure tables. Just a happy customer.

What are you guys using for your wall mounted TV in the way of Surge protection? I have a power conditioner for my AV equipment in the closet, but I got to thinking about the wall hung flat screens. All I have ever use are the strip type surge protectors.

Any suggestions? Likes / Dislikes?

I HAVE THE POWER.......(eighties childhood flash back never mind)

What I meant was I got permanent power today. What a relief.
Though things are happening about two week after I wanted them
to, it is just finally good to see them getting done.

It is true "the last 10% takes 90% of the time"

Tile & Appliances Done

Whole home audio speakers installed

Even got up in the attic and ran my HDMI Cables

Should be complete and moving in completely next week end.

I have got wood!!! (Flooring that is) for all you sick minded individuals.

We started moving in yesterday afternoon. So far so good, no major hiccups.

Next update will be of everything installed. So I will start posting up pertinent AV pictures instead of boring you with my whole house build.

I love the trim and finish so far in the whole house! Can't wait to see everything installed.

Mind you, we are still getting organized and choosing area rugs, picture, drapes and stuff. So everything looks a little bare. But here are some pictures with equipment installed.

Living Room-

Office / A/V Closet -

Ran out of room for the kids movies they are sitting on the floor.

So far the 4x4 matrix switch is doing perfectly, itis running the living and game room. I only have the Xbox360 hooked up right now and it is broadcasting 1080i perfectly to both TV's. The PS3 is in my bedroom so it has not been moved as of yet so I don't know if it will broacast 1080P as advertised. I need to go ahead and buy another PS3 or blue ray player
to put in my room.
