My N7 rank is 777. I think I'm done promoting for a while! All 20's except for Adept, so I'm not too worried

I have a Valiant I. Do I need to get more Commendation packs to upgrade it? I can't see that happening if they keep requiring Gold now. Don't really remember what miracle got me the gun in the first place...

Yes, you need commendation packs to upgrade the valiant, hurricane, crusader, and eagle.

Well, so much for that.

Latest Bronze Wondergame: bad lag caused many semi-immortal Geth at Firebase Glacier. Something then glitched badly and I found myself stuck to the ceiling near the upstairs door to the extraction area during Wave 10, preventing me from getting to the circle. I could spin around and shoot but otherwise was stuck. After shooting a while I decided to just let them kill me to get unstuck, since that worked before. For some reason, my shields were insta-filling so one Hunter couldn't do it alone. After two Pyros also walked over I was knocked down and got myself back up. Still wondering how I jumped up there...

Can somebody verify something? I was dropped into a Silver game on Firebase Condor which was in Wave 10 but had fallen apart. I killed a Banshee with a rocket launcher almost immediately on entering, but had to run past another one to get to the objective, a circle-wait on that platform near the back. While I can take down Banshees fairly quickly, I had trouble doing it in a crowd and got knocked down. I used a gel, got up while switching to the rocket launcher, and just like the other day, could not damage anything with the shot I took at the feet of the Banshee. IS there a delay being enforced that once you get up, you HAVE to wait to inflict damage? Other places I get up, there's like a moment's invulnerability that keeps you from instantly dying, and sometimes that includes a delay using powers, but this crap where I waste rockets unless I wait after getting up is just lame...

Reading the Bioware website is informative. Rockets disappear into the ground all the time. No connection to getting up. Every shot is an adventure. Whoopee...

Got my reward pack for Gold extraction. Same as last time, rocket launcher ammo, ops survival, and the shotgun I never use.

PSP gave me the Black Widow. If my GE carries it now, I get -35% cooldown. I guess it'll have to be for some other character down the road...

I keep reading about using PSP (is it PS Portable?) giving you more weapons. What ME game are you running on PSP? And, is it easier or quicker to get better weapons using PSP?

Premium Spectre Pack

I have just over a million credits now, but I'm going to wait for the next DLC pack to come out. Part of me wants to spend it all now, in an attempt to max out my Claymore (at VII right now). But the other part of me knows I'll end up with tons of worthless character cards.

In other news, Claymore ROCKS with shredder (armor piercing) and choke (accuracy) mods. Headshots galore plus insane damage.

Dang Zath, a million credits? I think I have less than 2K. Once I reach about 100K I always spend them.

No point if I just keep getting character cards. I have a feeling that will soon be patched like they did with the 255 pieces of equipment in their last server side patch.
post #1452 of 2263
I didn't stop buying packs until I maxed my rares. I would be surprised if they stopped giving character cards since it would affect their pocketbook.

Anyone that bought the PSP back to back, have you found the it gives you less good rare items after each time? Or, if you only buy one PSP at a time, wait for the next day or longer, does the pattern of better rare items changed?

I never played the MP so often that I have tons of unspent credits to test out this.

I haven't noticed any correlation at all.

It's random.

Got the Striker, rounding out my Rare collection. Decided to take it out for a run, despite the huge hit to my powers. SERIOUS mistake. Everything I do is power-shoot-repeat and when the shoot part grew from 3 second to like 8, I found myself on the ground a lot. The Striker in my hands acted just like the Geth shotgun: things in front of the targeting reticule often just laughed at me rather than dying. Someday I'll have to figure out why I do so well with the Geth SMG and not with the big guns.

Still waiting for the Geth Infiltrator to drop. Can't see using the Black Widow with anything else since I'm too used to Hunter Mode now, and to screw up the Engineer with too much weight is just a crime...

Any advice on how to unlock the Carnifex for multi without going insane? I've been saving up for Premium Spectre Packs, which with my skill level takes a while, but after four of them coughing up nothing but shotguns and sniper rifles I'm about ready to huck my controller through the TV. I'm up to Mantis IX! Meanwhile I can barely even get pistol mods.

Buy recruit packs until you max out your base guns like the Mantis. You'll also get mods this way.

Then buy veteran packs till you max out any uncommon guns you like (like the Phalanx). Get more mods.

Then buy PSP's.

Think about it this way - if you don't block off most of the commons/uncommons, you'll get them with your super expensive packs - when you could've gotten them in the cheaper ones.

A rule of thumb I like to use is buy packs that are equal to your skill level in game. In other words, if you can make it through bronze, buy recruit packs, maybe some vet packs. Move up to silver and buy vet packs, maybe some PSPs. Then move up to gold.

The carnifex isn't that great at level I. You're better off with a Phalanx X, which you'll get much faster.

The Carnifex is a rare, the Mantis is a common - getting a Mantis in a pack is not taking the place of a Carnifex.

It can take the place of a rare. When you buy packs, your pickups are as such:

C = Common
U = Uncommon
R = Rare
X = Any

Recruit:
U/C, U/C, U/C, U/C, U/C

Veteran:
U/R, X, X, X, X

Spectre:
R, X, X, X, X

Premium Spectre:
R, R, X, X, X

The carnifex, being a rare, can be an X. But so can anything else - including a common gun like the Mantis. Therefore, getting commons out of the way via recruit packs, and uncommons out of the way via veteran packs, you have a higher chance for that X to be a rare/ultra rare. Buying PSP's early on greatly punish you compared to buying them later on after maxing out commons/uncommons.

Wow, thanks for the detailed explanation. That helps a ton. I mostly play a support-role, power-spamming Salarian Engineer so my gun isn't overly important, but I'm sick of having a Phalanx I being my most powerful pistol option. Thanks again.

No problem.

Gun is super important, even for power spammers. As the gun gets upgraded to X, it becomes lighter. This means your powers recharge faster, up to 200% faster.

I skipped the veteran pack process and never felt like I wasted time or money.

So they DID change the number of items you could carry. I thought that webpage that said 10 of each was just plain wrong.

Nice to see SOMEBODY can use a shotgun...

Are you sure about how it pulls rarity though? Typical code should determine the rarity first, then pull from available items of that rarity; to work the way you say, all the items would just be in one big pool. Would be much more efficient the first way, but then if their code/tables were done properly they should never have had any issues with their challenge pack distributions.

Now that the stupid Disciple has gone to X in my inventory, maybe I'll get upgrades for guns I might *want* to carry. It was like a magnet, drawing cards in...
post #1468 of 2263
I actually like the disciple. Good range, light weight. Just not powerful enough (for gold).
post #1469 of 2263
I just played MP for the first time the other day.
Wow.
