They'll stop - once you hit level X

Uh huh. I want BW cards to stop for that reason.

I just need a change of pace. I'm often the only player in a Bronze game that either CAN kill a Banshee, or doesn't run away to avoid it. I had one game recently where I was at FBW using the turret to hold back the crowd that wanted to visit us while we were waiting in the stairwell for an upload to complete, when all of a sudden I notice this Banshee that had been wandering around outside was in the room with us. Sure, it had been damaged because I only got 900 XP for killing it, but DANG it would have been nice if somebody else could have handled the job.

So I want to TRY a stealth character in harder games, just to see if I suck at that too. Stealth is about the ONLY way I see myself surviving. Hunter Mode has grown on me, so I don't want to sneak around without being able to see through the walls. The BW may be too heavy for proper power use, but I loved it in the SP game so I'm willing to try. And if all else fails, I can finally go back to The Witcher 2 and get my butt handed to me by less interesting enemies...

Gold. Just. Won't. Give. Me. A. BREAK.

Dropped in during Wave 10 on Firebase Condor. Two targets to kill. Manage to rocket one Banshee but another one grabs me and insta-kills me. So I watch as the other players clean up. Extraction begins. Nobody tells me anything about what they do, so I look for something to kill and decide I was not going to be able to help without getting killed, so I hid where nothing big was available: behind a box inside the extraction zone. Then all of a sudden a Brute and a Banshee show up. I nuke the Brute but the Banshee takes out the rest of my shields and I'm down. With like 8 seconds left, I'm being revived, inside the circle, WHEN A DANG BANSHEE INSTA-KILLS ME WHILE I'M STANDING UP. I'm the sole casualty.

I'm like a damage black hole: it all comes to me...

Could be worse - you could gel and insta-die. Happened to me once. Was not happy.

Reaper/condor is pretty rough, so don't feel bad about dying there. One tip: don't go to extraction zone until 20-40 seconds are left since it draws aggro to that area. You might as well go there if your team decides to camp it early, but it rarely ends well.

I get grabbed by banshees all the time.

I know I shouldn't have gone there, but with no idea where/how far away the others had gone and only a few seconds to decide, I went with what's close. On the other hand, I died right where I was supposed to be, not off somewhere.

It's just that the Geth SMG can't kill big things fast enough to work in crowds: killing Primes during farming runs on FBW is another story since it has worked but those are random and not intentional on my part. Even the Bronze games now find an Atlas coming with snipers to help out. I got one tonight, but then was dropped. I have the Geth shotgun up to V, but I'm really not expecting things in front of it to die faster than before, and until I get an Infiltrator I'm not going to weigh down my Engineer. I'll work on Silver once that happens. Gold, nope...

Geth shotgun is great on the geth engineer. It's what I use.

What level do you carry? What cooldown percentage (positive, I hope)?...
You know, this is a far nicer place than the Bioware site.

I had the WORST drop-in game ever. 32 seconds left till extraction, and I'd equipped some stuff (ammo, targeting, stabilization) to make my game go better. Plus I used a gel before realizing that the counter that was running was for extraction. Four pieces of equipment wasted.

So I go to the Bioware site to complain, thinking that venting there would be useful.

Nope.

I'm asked WHY I'd use equipment for a Bronze game. I'm told that people who are in a Bronze lobby but take their sweet time getting Ready are carefully selecting the right configuration for the job, despite the idea of Bronze games not requiring anything as lofty as 'equipment'. I'm told that if I dislike being dropped in, I should always be the leader, despite my seeing no value in waiting longer to play.

I've decided that "Gold Elite" is the term I'll use for people who think they know everything there is to know about game play. A member of the Gold Elite will tell you THE way something should be played, in a way intended to belittle rather than inform. Like how Bronze games don't need equipment, no matter if things do die faster...

Any time you post to a forum, you get elitists responding.

PS - you suck and have no skill

my geth eng carries geth shotgun X and it's a 100% cooldown increase

I'm pretty sure my Geth Infiltrator has around +129% speed with the GPS X (after tier 4power/capacity bonus)

mikepaul, you seen to have a good handle on bronze. Why not try silver? In general people try a bit harder in silver and sometimes actually work as a team.

HORRIBLE Silver luck. I'm now up to two full Silver extractions after several intentional games and a bunch of drop-ins. The first Challenge was, I believe, full Silver extraction and I didn't get one. There is this one Silver game where I got REALLY lucky and became the sole survivor because I had one gel left with 3 seconds to go, but there's no REAL benefit in surviving a game that isn't one that gets you an eventual Achievement or a Victory pack so it was really a waste of gel.

Biggest issue outside of Bronze: damage finds me no matter how I duck to avoid it. If I see three Cannibals, there are four more doing a coordinated attack on me that wipes out my shields and downs me. Ravager packs seem to be everywhere, and I've been the only person downed by them even when standing in a group. And I finally noticed that when I'm just slightly dazed by an attack, my powers malfunction and regenerate slower, leading to the Announcer Guy telling everyone I need help.

So I have a plan for higher levels: Geth Infiltrator, to use stealth as a way to not get damaged. Sure, I tried it on a Salarian Infiltrator and it turned out that being seen just before cloaking means they see you AFTER cloaking, but with Hunter Mode I'd be more aware of who's around before deciding to disappear. I'd want to start using my Black Widow, which means long delays between cloaks, but I could also become one of those sniper-types who never runs anywhere until extraction and that's OK as long as I'm contributing. I'll miss tossing a turret into a room and then following it, but that's for the GOOD players.

When/if I unlock the GI and practice a while, I'll give Silver a shot...
This game is more about damage avoidance than damage soaking. Try to use cover to your advantage. That doesn't just mean taking cover behind a half wall. It also means popping out of an area, firing a few times, and retreating before you die. Your cloak idea also works well.

If you do want to soak damage, run sentinel and beef up tech armor. Ultimate damage soakers are Krogan Sentinels and Krogan Vanguards. When I run them, I'm the medic, reviving people while being flamed by a pyro and laughing off the damage. Kroguard is the best, though - when shields go, biotic charge into a nearby enemy. Shields restored to 100%!

I vote you do it now with the character you enjoy the most and get comfortable with the gameplay. Don't worry about winning or losing (try to win, of course); the other 3 guys should be fine even if you are doing bad...and if they can't win without you then they aren't great themselves and have nothing to complain about. Stick with the team, learn how to control spawns so that enemies don't pop up behind you, and use the strengths of your class. As time progresses you will learn to avoid damage and silver will begin to feel like bronze.

OK, OK. I''l try. I just don't want to develop a rep that gets me kicked from games. It's long hard work in Bronze to get my one PSP and two SPs that I aim for every day, but when I'm often the top scorer I figure nobody has a GOOD reason to complain. Silver, well, I expect complainers...

Operation Shieldwall Weekend May 25-27

The Reapers are targeting our training centers, and your mission is to draw their fire and attention. Put them on the defensive! Buy us time, and the reinforcements in training will soon back you up.

Allied Goal: Promote 50,000 characters
Squad Goal: Promote 3 characters
Special Circumstance: Due to the failure of Operation SILENCER, more banshees will spawn with Reaper enemies and might also spawn with other enemies.

Squad Goal Success: Squad members awarded a Commendation Pack
Allied Goal Success: All players awarded a Victory Pack (high chance of containing a Rare weapon)

Would be cool to see banshees and phantoms fight together.
I'd really like to see the other forces fight the Banshees.

Since we'll be promoting, anyone else up for Gold with a squad of level 1s?
Dammit, there goes my 777 rank!
Yeah, I'm going to end up skipping 360
All the classes I don't play are at 20, so I'm all set.

However, my brand-spanking-new GETH INFILTRATOR will run at 20 until I get used to how to play without a turret.

Besides, I was asked today why I play Bronze at Level 20 since they are "killing machines", so starting over will lessen the questions for a while. My story of how badly I play above Bronze was accepted eventually. I did get through a whole Silver game earlier, but I went down permanently during extraction when I followed everybody else to the pickup zone and zigged when I should have zagged. Did get 29K credits and the highest XP score I recall of 77K, so it was an OK experience...
So how many Banshees, exactly, will spawn at the same time on Gold now? Previously it's never more than 2.

Also, I can't wait for the lulz when a FBWGG farm gets a pair of Banshees spawned in behind them...

Failed purchases? Is that a PS3 exclusive or have I just had good luck?...
I play on PS3 and do get failed purchases. You still get the items, but you have to restart the game in order to see what you got.
