Geth Heavy Melee is something I'd seen before, but I thought it was some Adept thing, with a small dome of crackling energy. Killed one Brute but missed a Cannibal outside of its range and was clobbered. Ya live, ya learn.

Intentionally went Gold farming with new friends who hadn't tried yet. They had done things like switch to Silver without telling me, so I needed the credits for more gel anyway. If it wasn't for one having to go to dinner, we might have made it past Wave 8. We just ran out into traffic and our ghosts collected enough credits to make it worth our while. Doing two activation objective runs was tricky and only two of us finished the second one, but it was interesting. We agreed we'd be slaughtered in a real Gold game...

Sorry for the lack of talking on mic last night. My daughter woke up just as we were starting so she was chilling on my lap while we were playing. The cords and controller distracts her but sometimes (like last night) she pulls out the mic cable. She also likes to play with the D pad and use up my survival packs so I'm completely out now.

I had the tale of two gaming perspectives yesterday. In one round on Gold I was the highest scoring on a Geth Firebase White match. At some point our Infiltrator dropped out of the game and I had to make the last run to activate devices. I am around 400 something in N7 levels.

A little later I played a gold round where everyone was at least 1000 with one guy over 2000. As soon as I got into the room I knew my role would be to play support and not to die to often with my Geth Engineer. I think I barely cracked 20,000 during that round.

So much gear to collect and upgrade. I now have a reason to buy veteran packs since there are numerous uncommon gear options.

Seems like the game will be a lot easier after this DLC.

I'd wait and watch the bioware forums to see how the packs shake out. If you see other people getting the new stuff in the psp's then go for it.

Just save enough for your wife's anniversary present!

Jade and Goddess are both more complicated than I really like. Had to do one escort mission in Goddess that involved two separate pickups: not far and not dangerous, but it was Bronze...

Yeah I got burned big time on the last launch. Playing on thessia right now. Very cool map. There's a vorcha doing heavy melees - wow.

Surkesh isn't as neat of a map but definitely interesting. I think it will be very tough on gold. A few sniper points and a good ark spot.

The new objective you can get is to go pick up an object and return it to extraction. The problem is you can't run, biotic charge, or do anything else that would get you to extraction faster, as the objective is then dropped. You can go to cover and shoot/use powers, though. I like it because it really promotes teamwork. Though a g/g/w game may get messy. Also, since you can't run, a geth infiltrator and its movement speed increase from hunter mode becomes a major asset on these objectives.

The new gear isn't all that impressive at first level, but an extra 10% on shields seems worth trying. An extra 3% on sniper damage can wait for an increase...

Whoops. Checked manifest and the Operative package that gives me sniper % is a rare and might take a while to grow anyway...

That equipment must be re-equipped before every game. Trying Operative package just to see if I notice anything. Stronger shields still require you to duck and I wasn't managing on Jade...

Unlocked an Indra and got an upgrade for a Talon in one PSP.

Indra depressed me. The spread is too wide for the rainstorm of ammo to work well for me. Penetration mode seemed to function, but not a lot died. Plus, I was dropped late into a Silver game and was playing like Bronze so in the two (1/2 plus extraction, actually) waves, I was down about as often as I was up. Didn't understand what was wrong until I saw two Atlases, since checking the game mode is not as important as trying to avoid damage. 12K in credits will help replace the gels.

Does the Indra get a tighter spread as it gets higher? I might give it another run in Bronze since it is lighter than the Valiant...

Put it away for a while after a few Bronze games. Sure, it does an OK job, but not all the slugs that enter an Atlas seem to WORK, unlike the Geth SMG. Just about as long taking one down as the 'lesser' weapon, but only 205 total shots when some things really need whole clips of 25 to die because the spread is wider than they are and shots plain miss. Meanwhile the Valiant may just have 33 total, but some ARE 1-shot-kills.

Odds are slim that I'll get the right card again to upgrade the Indra to see if it gets better, but the odds are slimmer that I'll see enough Victory packs to get a better Valiant...

Does anything work to prevent game lockups? Sure, it was only 15K in credits but I WANTED them.

This time, there was no big-time explosion going on that might have caused an issue. I had killed a Cannibal on Jade and turned to walk away. 360 had been on just a couple of hours...

Clear your cache, free up hard drive space and keep it cool. Its helped me.

I bought a 250GB drive a few years back but the 120GB wasn't full so I delayed the upgrade. Even now it has like 45GB open. I'll try the cache thing and see how it goes. Thanks...

Been playing as vorcha sentinel for a few gold maps. Love the class, but hate the flamer power. I removed it completely and maxed health regen and weapon damage. Run with claymore x and any secondary weapon of choice and he's awesome. Cooldown doesn't matter if you skip flamer. Great tank.

Ok played a few rounds with the new stuff. My take:

Vorcha - Soldier I passed up in favor of the Sentinel. I'd rather have the cluster grenades than carnage. Bloodlust, when specced for health regeneration, is pretty sweet. It doesn't keep you up forever on Gold, but just enough to enable you to reheal completely after going to cover.

Cerberus Vanguard - At first I enjoyed the lash and smash combo. Biotic explosions are always fun. The smash doesn't reach far enough, and the lash doesn't really impact shielded enemies. Therefore, it's very difficult to do biotic explosions on higher difficulty levels. As an unexpected bonus, I found that heavy melee and biotic charging people is really sweet with this class. I therefore intend to promote the vanguard class (nearly all of mine are level 20 now with all the stupid cards I got), and re-spec for melee bias.

New sniper rifle - this thing's freaking amazing. More fun than the Valiant. Hold the right trigger while aiming to zoom 10x. Release to fire. Or just press the trigger to fire. Either way, you get a fun explosion that doesn't have to hit the target directly to damage it. 3 rounds per mag, 39 spares (with extra ammo V and level X gun). Definitely a new favorite, though I'm excited to try out my Javelin II.

New shotgun (reegar rifle) - I think this is definitely a great gun for the lower levels. At gold, it just doesn't do enough damage in one clip to really justify being exposed as long as you are.

So there you have it. Also, the "pick up the package and deliver it" objectives are a real PITA on Gold. Farming credits, even GGW, are way more complicated now.
