Tried out the Particle Rifle. Not sure I care for it. I'll just ignore it for now.
Had a decent Silver game in Rio with full extraction. Two guys bailed but I never saw us as really in trouble until they had left. I guess getting downed then kicked off the map by a Cerberus somethingorother takes the wind out of your sails. You CAN camp at the extraction zone if Electric Slash keeps the crowd at bay. Lucky for me, I wasn't downed too often while tossing it...

Yes, Typhoon is a very good weapon. It starts off slow but quickly goes up high firing rate. Even the weapon spec doesn't say it has high damage, it's more powerful than a lot of weapons.

I took it out with the Destroyer for several Bronze runs. Every boss, Banshee, Atlas, and Prime, went in less than a clip. If I saw it alone, I killed it alone. After a while, it got boring.

THEN I dropped into a Gold game, couldn't find anyone alive, and was almost immediately killed because I didn't find cover fast enough. No Iron Man, me. So I'll continue to work through Bronze until I think Silver is worth a shot. Or I'll go back to the Shadow. Less stopping power, more adventure.

I do find it amusing that a single Typhoon shot isn't headshot-worthy on a Cannibal. Pew, pew is not the way that weapon works...

Sometimes I can pass up an offer from friends to play something hard, sometimes I can't.

Platinum. First intentional game for me.

Two Destroyers with Typhoons (one was me), One Demolisher, One Salarian Engineer.

Firebase White, playing like farming Gold. Demolisher pylon right behind the two Destroyers.

Wiped in Wave 10 when the second part of the pizza delivery was thwarted. Horrible, horrible number of enemies up there. Even the escort missions went far better, but there's probably a generosity in earlier waves that had run out.

AMAZED at how long I could be peeking out of cover taking out the bosses with the Typhoon. Salarian decoy for the NEAR win.

If only the Wave 10 objective could have been kill bosses, we'd have at least farmed it well. The two Destroyers got over 110,000 XP, the others 48,000 or less. Need to try that again sometime...

The smash and typhoon nerfs are silly.
No sooner than I get a Typhoon and a Destroyer together, they nerf both...

Took out the Harrier II. Not exactly a Typhoon substitute. Typhoon I and Valiant IV make a GOOD combo...

I'm sure theres a plasma charge or similar wink.gif

Will the multiplayer in 3 spoil anything if I've not completed the story? So far I've avoided most spoilers pretty well and don't really know what I'm missing but sometimes multiplayer can spill the beans on some aspects.

I don't recall anything about Co-Op that would spoil the story, but the maps are taken directly from areas in the campaign, so you'd be seeing those parts early.

No, you're fine. The multiplayer demo came out before the game was released and the current version is just more maps, characters, powers, weapons, etc. It basically takes place during the main storyline so nothing is spoiled.
Just be sure people you play with know that you haven't finished the game yet, and avoid ALL discussion of singleplayer.
Was thinking I'd check a couple games out but may wait. It got an online pass or is it rental friendly?
A pass is required to play online.
Dude, this is EA :-P

Online pass is $10 iirc.

If you get it, lmk and we'll play. Still need to renew my XBL!
I'll end up buying the game, it's like $30.
Due to the Destroyer not minding huge weapon loads, I took the Javelin III out along with the Typhoon tonight. With limited previous use, I didn't notice that some not-very-thick low cover can't be penetrated. Geth behind it that I saw were not harmed, which makes me wonder why I could see them. Downing a Prime was doable, but slowly since I didn't reload cancel. Not doing that again. Valiant with Typhoon is a far better deal...
Forgot how good this story is. Think I'm halfway through 2 now. The vibe is way different than 1 was being a sudo merc rather than fleet officer. I'm torn whether I like the skill changes and planetary exploration. It feels a lot tighter than 1 but simpler. Cannot wait to see how 3 is.
Personally, I think I was the only person who enjoyed the Mako missions. I do know that the scanning stuff got rather tedious in 2, something they rectify in 3.

I think the combat is tight and thoroughly enjoyable, though the pace seems to pick up as the series goes on. I don't recall using quite as elaborate tactical combos as the game went on...but at the same time I felt like I could fire-and-forget my allies more, too.

That the multiplayer was so good (or that I'd enjoy as much as I have) came as something of a surprise to me.
I was also pleasantly surprised with the multiplayer.

Mako missions were fun, to a point. They could also be really frustrating on two or three worlds that required you to climb almost vertically.

I spent hours scanning planets. Don't know why. It was just relaxing. This is before the patch that made scanning easier!
Planet scanning isn't bad and is kind of a strangely comforting activity. I did like Mako runs though. If they had done anything but copy paste planets it would have been a lot better.

I really liked the weapon and skill choices 1 had. I've basically walked through 2 and not done much of anything but research tech. I'm still not sure that anything even comes out of the vending machine but I seem to get new toys here and there. Also figured out after 15 hours that the suit outfitter is where you can change armor. The game just isn't hard enough to can about my load out.

ME1 had a few times where I got pissed trying to get through like the colony taken over by the plant goo. Killing that tree and it's clones sucked, and for some reason the Saren fight seemed hard from memory but I just redid it and walked through that too. By the way, redoing that fight got my save file reimportable for 2.

I just feel like I'm sitting around making choices and not playing a game. Could crank the difficulty I suppose but I'm ready to get through it and see how the series wraps up. Just feels like 1 was harder and more RPGish.

Pacing wise I think 2 is faneffingtastic! Skyrim has a million quests that don't pertain to anything, pretty much everything I've done so far in ME2 related to something I cared about. Now I've only really done the fetch quests for my people but saved one ship from Blue Suns for Cerberus.

Think I need Garrus and the assassins loyalty and one more character to have a full ship. The biggest choice I have to look forward to is whether to send Sheppard in the final Mass Relay or not. Unfortunately that spoiler was out before 2 ever released. Will probably make a branch save and explore both possibilities.

Made an interesting discovery today.

I have *never* extracted in a Gold game. Closest I came was the rest of the team doing it and getting me the last Commendation pack.

So I'm playing through Insanity, and from the Main Menu I checked the progress on the Achievement you get for "Finish all multiplayer maps on Gold or all single-player missions on Insanity." and was stunned to see I was 1/6 of the Gold and 9/27 of Insanity.

Best guess: they expect you to PLAY Gold but don't expect you to get extracted. This is not the level of Achievement I thought I needed, and it makes me more interested in at least trying one more Gold game on the other original maps just to see what happens. Sure, some Gold Elite will gripe later about having to carry me, but I don't care...

So, no Reapers required for this Reaper-related Operation, or can we expect Banshees in every London game?...

ME2 is done! Popping in 3, should have my codes in the next day or so. All I have to say is wow! So many twists I wasn't expecting.

In 2? Yeah it is probably my favorite of the 3 in terms of story

One of the gaming sites ranked it in the top 25 modern games, I see why now.

The best part is playing femshep and going full renegade. So fun.
