Wooo. Zath and I just stayed up entirely too late and beat every single map in gold with 2 randoms. Got that achievement out of the way.

It is now 4:45 AM and we just finished an 8 or 9 game marathon of Gold. Got the achievement, ran through every single level. What a rush! We started off going for biotic explosions, and then switched over to salarian infiltrators w/widow sniper rifles. Played against geth only. I got so used to seeing them I started thinking they were on my team! Time for bed.

This will probably sound lame but the posts by Bioware regarding the upcoming weekend actually sounds awesome. It actually moves me to want to be a part of it, like they really need me to help them fight this invasion. I read it about needing people promoted and I was pumped to do it.

Damn! I saw formula come on right after I got in a group with some other friends...then you came on like 5 minutes later. We were 3 manning silvers against geth but with characters we were leveling so it was a mixed bag of success and failure. I still can't get the salarian infiltrator to drop. My asari vanguard is great against reapers but is kinda 'meh' against geth. But I got her up to 17 last night. Figure I'll get vanguard to 20 and maybe infiltrator close to that tonight. Then I might try a soldier or adept.

Just started playing the co-op and I love it! It's the closest thing I've seen to the Resistance 2 class based co-op, which I adored.

Send me a friend request if you want to roll, I'll be playing this for a while.

This is why I'm really liking what they did with multiplayer. With luck, so many people playing this is a good hint to Bioware that they need to develop a fully matured ME multiplayer game.


We had a guy join as a level 1 salarian infiltrator. After we had kicked a couple other low ranks, including an N7 level 1 (gold? really?!). We kept him when we realized he had a widow 7 or something like that. When we were all done (6 games later), he was a level 18 or 19 salarian infiltrator!

By the way, I spent a good 10-15 minutes last night just LMAO listening to the Blasto 6 lines. If you haven't listened to them yet, go to the Citadel Presidium, apartment block. There's an ad for Blasto 6 (the first hanar spectre). You can listen to lines from the movie by hitting A. Freaking hilarious.

question, I've played all 3x ME games. I'm used to having to search the planets for elements in the past two games. But what's the point of scanning planets in the 3rd game? Are you supposed to just move the ship over the planet and LT and see if something happens? or is it just a waste of time in ME3?

Waste of time. Everything you get directly or indirectly (via fetch quest) just adds to war assets, which is just a progress bar that *might* have a minor effect on the ending.

Do it only if you're obsessive about every detail of lore...there's no actual gameplay to be found.

ACTUALLY, you can also get boosts to your powers etc. from the Info found on some planets. You trade them in at the terminal in Liara's quarters. I think I'm up to a 25% Power boost among other things. There are at least 10 pieces of Info to find...

I'm back to working on MP now that my Galactic Readiness had dropped to 75%. Turian isn't BAD, but only 7 shots in the Widow I I tried again made me sad, like when we were waiting for extraction and no ammo was nearby. Back to the Phaeston I...

Its a good time to use your ammo reloads. And I'd take the Widow or the Black Widow for that matter.

No, you drop a scan on the system as you're flying around, if a planet has anything to scan for it will give an alert and be highlighted. THEN you go to the planet and scan.

are you playing on gold? or silver with bad teammates? if not you really have no need to carry the widow.... I have widow III, and i've been recently running with a few of the same team mates that love bringing their widows.... I just bring my Mantis X, and sit on top of the scoreboard .

If you have the salarian just zoom, cloak, energy drain + shoot, reload and repeat... Don't even need to invest in the "fire one power while cloaked" (take the 40% cloak shot damage instead) because you can get a power off and a shot off before cloak disengages.... even on silver enemies with shields (rocket trooper, centurion, marauder, etc) are a single headshot kill (thanks to energy drain removing the shields).... I just run Mantis X with piercing and barrel (don't need any other mods with 20 or more mantis shots).

I reset my salarian infiltrator last night and even at level 1 I had no issues topping the scoreboard on silver, and I'm playing with some very good guys (3 of us did the gold runs together, every map.)

By carrying the widow, you've got like 3 times the weight penalty (or something like that), and it equates to about 1 or 2 less shots on something large like an atlas, prime or a brute.

Can't get a piercing mod or the Salarian infiltrator to drop. But the Mantis X is damn good.

I want to try a gold round tonight.

biggest issue is that everyone is going to promote tonight... but I reset my salarian last night and only played 2 rounds, so I'm sitting at level 14 and I'm down for some gold runs.

I think you only have to promote 2 classes to get the pack. And then the entire community has to promote a certain number....but I cant control that even if I promoted all my guys so I think I will only promote a few. I assume a lot of other people may do the same so you should have plenty of people still prepared to play gold with you.

I intend to promote ALL 6 of my characters tonight. Then run either my Salarian Infiltrator or Krogan Sentinel exclusively, with the goal of two more promotions over the weekend. Can't wait to see my N7 rank skyrocket.

I wonder if 75k people will promote 2 each? either way i'm gonna do my part and promote at least 6, if not 8.... especially since there will be an N7 bonus, and since I care about some worthless arbitrary number

Either way, I can play gold as a level 1, so long as i'm a salarian, or at the very least an infiltrator and the enemy is geth.

I'm not playing this like a pseudo chess game. I carry what kills stuff for me, but I have to settle for the one that gets me OUT of more trouble than it gets me INTO. Hence the larger ammo capacity of the Phaeston. A rainstorm of cryo ammo wears down an Atlas fairly quickly, although getting cryo isn't always easy when the packs don't cooperate.

I would prefer the Widow (Black Widow, really, but no sign in MP) since I can usually hit a target with it, but it doesn't 1-shot-kill much of anything I worry about. In SP, I'm killing Banshees with the Scorpion V but there's another tool I can't find in MP, plus the capacity would suck. Ah, the things they do to make MP fair.

My Turian picks up biotic kill medals now so he's doing all right. Once I have him ready to promote this weekend I'll try something else. I'd *really* like to use the Dark Channel I picked up in SP today, but that's another no-can-do. Doggone fairness...

i'm not talking widow vs phaeston, or some magical guns that you might not actually ever unlock.

Black Widow RULES in SP. Often all I have to do is wing a Cerberus thug and he shatters into a pile of ice. Three shots without reloading is wonderful. My powers don't come back as often as I want but as a Soldier the guns are most important anyway.

The Mantis may hit a touch harder, but waiting for it to reload has always been dangerous. Plus the BW actually reloads using the X button, which never worked with the Mantis...

Mantis V is my goto gun so far in single player with my Infiltrator. Sniping is much easier in SP than MP -- I use the concentration mods on the gun so slows down time, coupled with the headshot bonus and either cryo or disruptor ammo and it's bad ass.

Been trying to save up for Black Widow but didn't realize it's a semi auto sniper so maybe I'll save my credits...

I tried the concentration mod once. Didn't notice enough help. I stick with capacity and damage mods. 43 total shots in the BW now when I remember to reactivate cryo. EVERY darn cutscene seems to disable it. My Mantis always required me to hold L1 to reload, so the BW being 'normal' with X is a big improvement...

Bout to hop on for some multiplayer promoting epicness. 6 characters in 6 minutes!

Finally got the Geth Shotgun and Salarian Infiltrator tonight.

Just a heads up for Canadians... ME3 is on sale at Walmart for $29.99 already. Eventually it will hit $19.99, but this is a pretty awesome price considering it's been only 3 weeks since release. If I had not bought the PS3 CE, I'd be pretty pissed off right now. But it's nice to have the 360 version in my collection now.

Off topic, $25 Itunes cards are on sale for $20 at Walmart too.
