The ones that Sony is using in their demos (at least the two that I have seen) are not rechargable either. I don't know if it is a big issue though: LC power consumption is low and the Sony glasses "time out" if you remove them from your head.

PS: I've seen claims for some ACGs that they have 240hrs battery life. That does not seem too bad.

Looking at the Vanns ad for the Samsung glasses, they use a CR 2025 button battery.

I think that was what the Sony glasses use.

The Panasonic looks to use the CR2032 non-rechargable battery. This info is shown when you view the 3D glasses in 360 degrees mode on the website.

My local Best Buy/Magnolia told me over the weekend they would be getting their 3D display setup on March 21st. Also the Reuters story fails to mention that 900 Best Buys stores would have the 3D displays by the end of March, as previously reported. Its my undertanding that most BB stores will be getting the Panasonic setup while a lesser number may have the Samsung 3D demo setup (either in addition to or instead of the Pansonic setup) within the next couple of weeks.

I think I will call around some today. hard to believe at least one store here in the Denver area woudl not have it today.

Actually, they offer 3 kinds of ASG's:

Battery - SSG-2100AB
Rechargable - SSG-2200AR
Kids version - SSG-2200KR

Okay, just making sure. I was reading here and looked like no one knew. Don't really have too much insight on the kids version besides just fitments?

Went to my local one in Leominster MA, they do have a Samsung UN55C7000 on display, but no glasses and nothing hooked up to it for 3D content. Said they will have the full DEMO displays going by March 21st.

What was funny is, I asked the 2 girls at the Home Theater display, and they were all excited about having the set, said they watched it in 3D and it looks awesome, etc etc etc, I get over to the TV, and she's just putting it on the 2D to 3D real time conversion, then starts talking about how it looks. I ask her if they have the glasses for it, and she has to go ask someone else if they do. Comes back and says that they don't yet, but will be getting them in by March 21st. But she was raving about the cool 3D picture that was only the converted, and she hadn't seen it with the glasses yet. I know I should no longer be surprised by the lack of knowledge these people have, but from what she was saying, a bunch of them were looking at this, without glasses, earlier that day, and loving the 3D effect . . . it's just a blurry screen. She wasn't even doing it as a BS sales pitch, just all excited about it. Boggles the mind, Man.

Only current real 3D content will be Monsters Vs Aliens Blu-ray. Then 3 channels when they launch in late spring/summer.

I got to see the new Panny 3d Plasma today at bestbuy in NYC. They were having a press conf when I got there. I was able to put the glasses on and look at the 50 inch plasma. They were running a loop of underwater footage of a coral reef with schools of fish swimming around. The picture was amazing! I was blown away at how deep you can see into the picture. And the Panasonic rep told me that the 3d blueray players have 2 HDMI outs, one for the 3d, (1.4) and a (1.3) for audio to your existing HD AVR. That was good to here so no need to by a new amp to watch 3d bluerays. The Rep told me that Panasonic was the only comp offering this.

That is DirecTV. ESPN 3D will launch in June for the World Cup but we don't know if it's CBL, SAT or both.

And Ice Age 3 (3D BD) arrives next month for Panasonic 3DTV buyers.

I didn't hear of Ice Age 3.

Only ones I really knew of are Monsters v Aliens, Cloudy with a chance of meatballs, Avatar, Disney's A Christmas Carol.

Discovery as well has a dedicated 3D channel.

ESPN will do atleast 85 events in its first year.

I was calling around and that New York Best Buy was the only one able to seel the Panasonic package today. I guess the disc you were seeing was the Bluray sampler disc? Apparently you won't have Ice Age and Coraline until early April?

I was told that New York store had 5 complete packages only and sold them out in 15min. (5 on launch day for the entire country aye?" HHhmmmfff

I had also seen a blurb (unconfirmed) of Alice In Wonderland and Toy Story 3 though they may arrive in 2011.

Discovery 3D will be 2011.

I was in a Best Buy yesterday, and asked a sales guy if the store was going to have a 3D display. He got very excited and said, "We have one right over here." Apparently, two of the TV salesmen had opened up and put on display a Samsung 3D display and the Samsung 6900 Blu-ray player. It wasn't supposed to happen until Saturday. He said the manager freaked. They left it up, but of course without the 3D glasses and demo disc. The sales rep was much more knowledgeable about 3D than most. He volunteered to work on Saturday, just so he could be there all day to check it out and show it off to customers. His enthusiasm was really genuine. I'll be there with bells on.

One thing I noticed in the Samsung menu was 3 different 3D display modes that were manually selectable. One looked like it probably selected normal full HD 3D, another was side by side and the last was over/under.

The convert single image one makes the middle of the screen pop out. side by side is for cable and top and bottom is for sat. or vice versa. Discussed it yesterday. Then two more modes for PC 3D

Similar experience, ran into someone at BB Magnolia in STL who had a 55C7000 on display alone. I was able to play with it a little bit and stumbled across something that has me confused.

Under the 3d settings, there is a '3D Auto View' setting. The description underneath it stated something to the effect that is automatically converts an hdmi 1.3 signal when connected (I took a picture and will have to look at the exact description).

Does this mean 3D content via PS3 or Direct TV will work over HDMI 1.3?

Yes. Need 1.4 for AVR equipment though
