Wynn Duffy and his sidekick were in the car watching...no? And I too will have to rewatch that last scene---but did we see Boyd when Raylan and the rest of the police arrived?

Speaking of funny lines, Quarles had a quip along the lines of "It's a Wynn Win" situation when Duffy walked into the RV...and another line when Duffy's enforcer declined to take a puff of the oxy when he said "No, I'm good..." And Quarles replied something along the lines of "The idea is to be better"

Every episode of Justified deserves to be watching twice if not for clarity purposes....than just for the pure sake of catching the dialogue the 2nd time through.

The Wizard of Oz line comes to mind when Raylan was talking to Limehouse and his "Amen" assistant while he was grinding meat....meow.....

Besides the hilarious escalation of the complex plotting I really enjoyed the fact that all the characters were continuously outthinking each other. A seemingly solid plan in one scene was then undermined in the next.

From the bank robbery which seemed inevitable until the reveal that the police were outside and completely aware of what was going to happen, to Limehouse seemingly pulling the wool over Boyd until Boyd pulled a gun in the bar indicating he was onto the scheme all along, to Wynn using Boyd's plan against him to try and take down some of the locals, to Raylan being one step ahead of Dickie and lying in wait ...

All the characters came across as savvy and smart and that made the episode more entertaining for the viewer too, since all the angles that would normally have played out predictably all took unpredictable paths.

Excellent point. That the camera didn't show Quarles shoot Tom, it probably wasn't. Again, I hated to see a good cop shot. We'll probably find out he was shot in the back, I suspect.

But when Raylan showed up and they told Johnny (in his wheelchair at the back door of the bar) to "drop the gun", Johnny cried "Quarles shot him". Doesn't seem like Boyd would shoot Tom, nor Johnny, nor Wynn across the street in the car. Seems only quick-draw Quarles could possibly have a real motive and be the cuplrit. Why would Boyd shoot Tom... just so that he could eventually be the one to kill Quarles?? Unlikely in those circumstances, I would think.

So unless Johnny's the shooter and making up what he said, or the writers are trying to confuse us with bits and pieces of lines that can actually be true or false to go along with the fact that we did NOT actually see who fired that shot, I just don't think anybody but Quarles is the most likely trigger finger.

If the cops take in Quarles, there's $100K or $200K for him so there is a motive for Duffy to help him get away.

Hadn't thought of that. plus Duffy is supposed to prove his worth to the Detroit Boss by taking care of Quarles, isn't he..."The cops got him" might not go over so good...

Which leg of Dickie did Raylan ruin before which set off their grudge? It would be too Elmore if Raylan finished off both legs and left him alive hobbling along even worse. I'm starting to feel sorry for the poor critter.

My favorite line of the week:

Arlo: "You're leaving me on the bench while Dickie Bennett sits out there and eats all our pretzels?"

His left leg is messed up. "Poor critter" is right, lol. And what's up with that hair??

Boyd was still face down on the ground from the explosion.

The way they set it up made it look like Tom shot Quarles; since he told him to put down a gun, that wasn't in his hand, or he would shoot.

The Limehouse reveal was very good!

Found it really odd that they would blow the car up after he left the car, AND started walking away, if you wanted to take him out, do it while he was in it. If you also wanted to take out boyd too, then sure wait, but when you see he isn't approaching the car, then blow it when he starts to get out of the car, not give the signal AFTER he starts walking away. Just didn't fit.

I looked at it that Wynn was evening the odds, thinking Quarrels would take Boyd by surprise. He wanted to give Boyd a chance. Having them kill each other would be,er, a Wynn-win...

Wynn figures that any outcome will benefit him , & why not try to off everybody by them doing the heavy lifting , with Wynn in a area that he can't be charged with a crime .
Best for Wynn to stand back & eat some pop-corn .......................

Except perhaps the one where Quarles survives and comes after him.

All I want to know is who shot Tom, everything else can take care of itself.

There are only a few possibilities...

Quaryles - somehow
Wynn - but then he'd be shot in the back
Johnny - but he was holding a shotgun
Boyd - might not be unconscious, but I don't see him doing it
Darkhorse (Arlo) - he's MIA and might have done it if he was hanging around in hiding somewhere, cuz, well, he could do anything for any reason in the condition he's in. Johnny would probably cover for him and say Quaryles did it.

Most likely, we find out tonight.

My worry is they'll use it as a connector thread to next season Assuming the writing doesn't get sloppy, there's really no one with motivation to shoot him (sloppy writing would make it Quarles) so an accident makes sense, and that would point to Boyd (semi-consciously trying for Q but missing.)

That would be an interesting secondary theme for next season, Boyd experiencing guilt for the first time in his life. Preacher Boyd, I can see it now ...

Girly mon drink

Justified, like Blue Bloods, requires a fine bottle of Jack Daniels or a six of beer by your side to truly integrate into the story. Jack on the rocks is my choice. With Lindsey the bartender on the side, so to speak.

Raylan "disarmed" Quarles. God, season 4 cannot get here soon enough.

Awesome, awesome season finale.
