"Justified" on FX HD - Page 59

In a link earlier Yost said sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't, but they were using a rifle.My own feeling is as long as there is a chance in a 1000, its okay. It was the sort of cool move Raylon is known for and part of what seperates him from us mere mortals. I mean, he didn't have a moment of doubt that it would work, just like he knew last year pulling the tablecloth would work against Icepick guy. Its part of the reality of the show and after 3 seasons of such moves one can't blame the writers for expecting their audience to buy it, otherwise they would have stopped watching long ago.

That's exactly right. Yost said it took 5 or 6 shots from a rifle. When they discussed the trick in the writer's room, they agreed that it was farfetched, but since Raylan is cool, it would work. There's more than a bit of nod and wink to that scene.

If people can't buy into the plausibility of these kinda dramas then why do people watch them ? ?

As a car guy, it really attacks my Suspension of Disbelief.

Good episode. That one family was a hoot

Apparently he's the bar wench's hubbie. Several memorable quotes tonite but can't remember any of them now.

Just having Art in the episode made the night for me, he had some great dialog!

Just thought of something. We did not see Constable Bob Sweeney (Patton Oswalt) this episode. Well, I don't think so at least. I enjoyed him being in the cast, he was a goofball

Did anybody recognize the new Reverend's sister from Tru-Blood a few seasons back, she was one of Jason's unique girl friends. .

The folksy, down home way Art communicates what he's thinking/feeling is a FANTASTIC part of the show.

And the way he plays off of Tim and Raylan is even better.

I actually just spotted her in the History Channel's "Hatfields and McCoy's" which I just sat down to watch over the weekend.

The confrontation between Boyd and Billy was amazing, topping off another nearly perfect episode, at least for me. Raylon is cooler than any other lead in any show, imo. And Tim and Art are even cooler than he is

Art speaking about his , "Marshall stiffy" , just way to much info. Hilarious reactions from all in the locker room. Great episode.

Didn't think that the Boyd & Billy scene was that well done to Justified standards. Dialog seemed tired. Been there done that with Boyd.
But agree that we need more Art & sniper Tim. Love the way that Art plays "the adult in the room" with the boys, Tim & Raylan. Tim gives off the kinda vibe you'd get from a batch of unstable nitroglycerine.

I thought it was Raylan that commented about Art getting an MS when heard he came up with name of the pilot. Whatever, it was still funny.

I think Raylan is gonna get a beat down from Lindsey's MMA husband fairly soon...if he plays fair.

But you know that Raylan won't play fair. Remember that Season 3 episode one scene with the ice pick killer? Instead of reaching for the gun on the table and getting his hand pierced and pinned to the table as the killer grabs the gun, Raylan simply pulls the tablecloth towards him and picks up the gun and shoots the bad guy who is still frozen with his pick in the table. Classic!

Agree, but Raylan got is butt kicked at the bar and lost his hat that he went back and apologetically ask for back and even paid the guy for it. Just sayin' that the writers can go either way and it probably depends on whether he's drunk or sober when they meet. .

It was the acting I was talking about. The way Boyd smoothly went into preacher mode and basically drew down on Billy and then the two of them trading rifts like 2 superstar guitar players is what got me. What they said wasn't that important, it was how they said it.

You don't think they're setting him up to be killed off on the show? Talking about being close to retirement, having someone anxious to take his job, him going out on assignments...

I'd get an insurance policy on him

I was thinking the same thing. They've done everything except put a red shirt on him. If you see him wearing a red tie in a future episode, start the eulogy.

This week's show was an example of Justified at its best. The verbal shootout in the revival tent between Boyd and the revival preacher was simply wonderful. It was really fun seeing Boyd back in preacher mode (sort of). Also enjoyed the bar owner's tough guy husband, who Raylan had the wit not to challenge too aggressively. As others have noted any episode with as much of Art as we got this week is a great episode. Another high point was the confrontation between Boyd and the chillingly creepy and dangerous Wynn Duffy. Loved the way Duffy defused a Mexican standoff by simply shooting and killing his own guy who had made the mistake of selling drugs in Boyd's territory.

I keep thinking there is no way Justified can continue at such a high level but I keep being wrong. Elmore Leonard must be very proud. The flavor of his work has rarely if ever been transferred to film so effectively as it has been in Justified. Three cheers for Graham Yost and his writers! Hell, make that four cheers!

Gotta agree, a great episode.
There was a lot of EL in this latest show...his classic witty and droll dialog was everywhere.

"I thought we were square"..."I thought we were a circle".

Yes. And the "Reverend" was in HBO's 'The Pacific' mini-series too.

I see that your Son not only wrote this week's episode, but he is getting Executive Producer credit now as well. Congrats!
